That's how mine was, tight only when erect and only if I pulled it back behind the head when erect. Not enough to seriously hurt but it did hurt. That's why I stretched it. I have caused swelling from pulling it back too hard or masturbating too hard. I just put it back in place and left it alone for a day or so until the swelling went down.

A second quick response from me: Just googled phimosis and you're absolutely bang on what I have. When I then googled paraphimosis that's what my foreskin looked like this evening just not red and sore and not as swollen. So thank you for that input, really really helpful!

It will retract on it's own as you slide it in. Girls are individuals so one may like it retracted while another may not, that would be a personal preference. I tried holding mine back to see how it felt and my wife did not like it that way.
I just finished reading your post on retracting, Really well written. I have been retracting my foreskin for about 6 years. Mine was not really long to begin with so retracting it was really easy. It took about 4 months for it to remain retracted by itself. I like the look and my wife loves it so it's a win for me all the way around.

I have recently started retracting my foreskin, i am 14 and always had a horible amount of white sticky build up under the skin, it smelled bad. a school friend told me about this site, i read other sites too. it has been just over 2 months and now the skin stays rolled back on its own. on a holiday to spain in early june i wore my usual speedos for the beach and noticed my package looke a lot nicer in them... more perky, my parents looked at me surprised but did not comment. (maybe i will get more looks from the girls?). the speedos help keep the skin in the rolled back position, im boxers i had problems with the skin rollong back over the head, as summer was here i was swimming more with friends in the local river so i now wear speedos every day for that. so i am hoping that by time winter is here the skin will be fully trained to stay back. who knows i may stick with the speedos i do like the support they offer. thanks all for the useful comments

I just started permanent retracting my foreskin today. Really curious as to how it feels. I am 28 yo this year. I only started retracting my foreskin to clean it at age 21. It was so difficult to even retract due to dried out smegma acting like some sort of glue to the glans and foreskin. I remember i almost fainted due to the pain and hypersensitivity i felt trying to clean the 21years of smegma accumulated. My foreskin was also very tight and i had trouble retracting it even when my penis was flaccid. But i presevered through 2 years of on and off stretching to finally able to fully retract the foreskin while staying erect. The glans til today is still quite sensitive and hurt quite easily when i masturbate while rubbing the head of the penis as sometimes i see little tears or blood. My frenulum is also quite tight and there is quite a lot of wrinkled foreskin when i pull back. I would like to know if permanent retraction will be able to reduce the wrinkled foreskin as it looks horrible. Also i am doing this to hopefully reduce some sensitivity and add some stretch to my frenulum.
Most of men experience the swelling over their retracted foreskin promarily it starts at the junction of inner and outer surface of the foreskin. I suggest if men try to pressure over the area then this problem will subside. After every urination strech and pull the rolled skin at the root of the penis by the right hand and then apply pressure (gently massage) by the left thumb, index and middle finger over the junctional area for 5 minutes and 5-6 times per day untill the swelling diminished. I gain great success by this process.

I would think it would be hard to use the words 'moist' and 'pink' in the same sentence when referring to the glans. When the glans is still sensitive, it is a purple like you describe, but as it desensitizes, it becomes karetinised with extra layers of callus. These extra layers hide the purple and give it the light pink color.
Once it is callused, the only way to have it pink and moist would be to cover the glans with the foreskin again. I wear my foreskin retracted much (most) of the time. When it is exposed, it is dry and when I cover it, it becomes moist. By varying the amount of time exposed and covered, I can maintain just the right amount of sensitivity that I happen to be in the mood for. You need not worry about dry glans. As soon as you recover it the process starts to reverse back the other way.
