Oh ladies these stories are terrible. From my experience antibiotics during surgery are the cause of BV by killing off the good flora and creating an imbalance. Then to treat it we are given more antibiotics its a terrible cycle. Please stop treating your BV or yeast infections with antibiotics they will just come back worse. I have had the smell go away after using iodine supplements and probiotics vitamin d. You must build your good flora again. Coconut oil eaten and applied to your vagina should help. Eat loads of probiotic and prebiotic foods. Please don't turn to hysterectomy and try a natural approach. Wishing you all much love and success in your healing. X

Can you give me some more information on trying a natural approach? Do I look for a specific kind of doctor to help me treat this? How did you know what to do?

my gyno told me to use probiotics with acidophilus to counteract with good bacteria and it worked

I too had the NovaSure ablation about 4 years ago. In the past 2-years I've been having recurring yeast infections (annoying). My GYN says he does not know where it's coming from. Ever since I had the ablation this issue began. There is no doubt in my mind that this ablation is the cause.

I had an ablation 3 years ago and also have had chronic yeast infections since. It has been driving me crazy. I think because you usually slough off lining during your period that now your body doesn't have that chance to do that anymore. I think the PH changes after the ablation as well as certain " good bacteria " are no longer there for some reason to help keep the yeast at bay.... there should be more research done on this topic. though it is not life threatening , it is frustrating !!!!

Yes I've had constant odor issues since my ablation. I've gone to the doctor and let her know, to which her response is, no it's not from the ablation it's because you wear a thong, it's because you shave, you're allergic to soap (so don't use soap, the vagina is self cleaning).... I shaved BEFORE ablation, I wore a thong BEFORE ablation and I used soap BEFORE ablation! Doctors are ridiculous sometimes. The only thing I've found that helps, is WATERWORKS recommended by The Doctors tv show. It's similar to a douche but isn't douche, the stainless steal piece and warm tap water gently cleanse the odor away. The problem is that it returns in a day or 2. I'm considering finding a way to get a hysterectomy to see if that will alleviate the problem.

She's so right. Please, please, please save yourself the embarrassment, pain and frustration. Do NOT get the Nivasure procedure done.

I am so happy to see all of these posts regarding the aftermath of the ablation. My biggest problem are the horrid cramps two days before my "period" and the horrible odor. I had the procedure done over two years ago and truly regret it. My doctor makes me feel like it's all in my head and has even told me to stop looking up stuff on the internet! lol I truly think a hysterectomy is in my future.

Hello, I had endometrial ablation done three years ago and I never have gotten rid of it. I am contacting an attorney to see about starting a class action law suit. This is the most horrifying thing anyone could have. I will update everyone with information on the lawsuit.

Be strong my sister had the same problem. Every time her period was scheduled to come on her body just reeked of period. I was really there for her. It's not your fault.

I had the Novasure and Esure (fallopian plugs) both done in May 2013. Prior, I had not experienced vaginal infections (less than 3 in my life), but now seem to be fighting BV. While the side effects are not overly intense, during and after sex the odor is elevated. Daily I just feel uncomfortable, too damp, and self conscious. It is taking a toll on our physical intimacy and my self esteem in general.

We are overseas and have used a gel called Relactagel, per the recommendation of my new gyn. It worked, though it was a 7 day night time gel (pain in the neck). Sexual intercourse is allowed during the treatment. But within less than 2 weeks, the BV reoccured.

My Novasure procedure was intense, with more than 6 weeks before the foul discharge diminished. I too believe there is a link between my procedure and my present condition. They say stress also triggers the condition, but who doesn't have stress and then after getting, my stress elevates.

I'm sorry I just saw this. Research prebiotic sand probiotics and consume as many of these foods in your diet. I found iodine helped a lot. Eat seaweed and other foods contain high amounts of iodine. A combination of vit c vit d and iodine together are a very powerful infection fighters as are garlic and turmeric. Eat as many foods as possible high in these foods. Good luck. Xxx

I also have suffered from vaginal itching and right now working with a doctor who is trained in the bioidentical hormones. I am on 400mg of progesterone which is in the form of a cream which I apply daily and also small amount of estrogen. I also have factor five and when on estrogen my uterine lining thickens and so I need mega dose of progesterone so to balance the estrogen. It is a hormonal issue and I can almost bet that most women with this problem have factor five and do not know it. Mine was inherited from my mom and found by a simple blood test..I believe most doctors do not know how to deal with patients with factor five. It is a clotting disorder and the estrogen was causing my lining to thicken.. Hope this helps.
