Hi,
I'm still numb after 10 months...and tight of course. Is anyone still tight and numb? I'm afraid I might have nerve damage...

It will be one year for me Oct 2, 2015. Still numb, sore, & tight in the sides of the face by the ears through jawline, neck & chin areas. I think I am still somewhat swollen as well. Sometimes the tightness seems worse than some days, not sure why. I doubt the numbness will EVER go away based on past surgery I have had in the stomach area over 25 years ago and it is still numb.

You wrote over a year ago, and I would be interested to hear how your recovery went. I am 4 weeks post op (neck lift, lower face lift and fat transfer) and the fact that I can't smile properly also really bothers me. I believe that doctors should not perpetuate this myth of recovery 'after two weeks' - this may apply to bruising and swelling, but certainly not to total healing and a return to normality. My face is very tight, I have shooting pains, tingling and itching, my skin is hypersensitive, and I feel like a freak. I can't even speak properly, and forget about laughing - that actually hurts. My PS just says to 'give it time'...

my face is still numb for 3 months now please help
A portion of my face is still numb after 3 years. I had significant pain for 2 years. Now just mild pain, also under neck scar/webbing and asymmetry of ears. Welcome to bad outcome reality!
I'm at year three and the areas of pain & numbness get smaller. Still have a good size patch over left jaw and ear. I actually think this is thick hypertrophic scar tissue causing it. Some of us have this response. We are just unlucky to have these genes I think. With that said, there could easily be an optional test for potential hypertrophy before face lifts. I would have been glad to pay for that.
Yes me my neck
And face killing me 6
Weeks later 10k to look worse than before joke
It is 2 years after my neck lift and I now finally have gotten my feeling back every where! Be patient!!!
I have exactly the same problems from a neck lift performed in Canada 2 years ago. The tightness and pain still exists even though I take Lyrica for it. A possible suggestion has been more surgery to loosen the sutures. What have you done to relieve the pain?
I had to have the long suture taken out. It was too tight and caused some nerve damage and hypertrophic scarring under my neck. I did not understand that the suture was basically a noose! Would not have agreed to it had I known. Did not ask enough questions.
OMG IT HAS BEEN SIX MONTHS OF NO FEELING IN MY FACE/ MY EARS RING WITH TINITUS, I HAVE GROSS DISFIGURATION AND ALL THIS FROM
A SURGEON OF 28 YEARS, HER EXPLANATION TO ME WAS TO FOCUS ON MY PERSONALITY PS THOUGHT I WAS JUST GETTING A TIGHTER JAW LINE
NOT SEVERED MUSCLES
Yes, I am glad I found this site. I had surgery 7 weeks and, things keep getting worse. Mine too is mainly over the left jaw area. I think I am also unlucky enough to have a bad outcome. Wow 3 years..I hope I can last that long...What choice do I have? I wish I could go back....never again. Wish I knew what I knew now...
I don't know about you but I was never told and never heard that numbness /tightness would be a permanent side effect even though I asked my PS about possible side effects.
As for myself I had a neck lift and partial facelift. My face looks more "rested" and my neck? I ended up with my salivary glands showing. What a nightmare! The PS said that he'll fix that problem in surgery in a few months but guess what?... he's retiring next month( 4 months after I had surgery). I have follow up appointment the end of this month and hopefully he'll be able to do this surgery before he goes his merry way. I called his secretary to see what he intends to do and she said that she'll ask him once he gets back from being out of the country. Fingers crossed
Also I have pain sometimes when I'm eating/sleeping and I still have to sleep with the head restraint or else I'm uncomfortable.
I've read not to use heat or ice as they can cause tissue damage.
I see Your post was from a year ago. I had a lower face lift and neck done six weeks ago. I am miserable. Right after surgery and, with the bandages on I felt great. Once the stiches were removed I started to feel numbness around the ears. Now 6 weeks later it gets worse every day. I could cry every day. I am trying to be brave but this is the hardest thing I have ever to gone through. If I had to live with the rest of My life I don't know what I would do. If someone had told Me what to expect, I would never have done this to Myself..........and the worse thing it was done for pure vanity.
