I've been on opiates for 15 years. 45 Perc 10's a day for a couple years. Used suboxone. Got off that. Was good for 2 years. I dabbled here and there. About a year ago I stuck a needle full of dilaudid in my arm and it was curtains. The was nothing better. 150 a month for free. Plus blowing all my $ on them. When I couldn't get them I started on heroin... I was thru!! Well 2 months into this last year I've wanted off but I know better with the WD's. Tuesday morning I decided to drive across country so I knew I couldn't score. I did $100 of H on Tuesday through a couple states. I went to a walmart spent $$$ on meds and fluids. Ive been taking Zantac & Lope since Wednesday and I have not had 95% of the WD's!! I'm from ohio. Currently in Colorado. No dope. Not dope sick. It's a freakin miracle!! I don't even want to get high!!! IT REALLY WORKS!! I'm p'd that I haven't heard of this. This is so much better than subs or dones. I have horrible WD's and have never made it 12 hours. I'm so happy it's working!! On my way to Vegas and I actually feel good enough to enjoy it.

This thread needs to stay at the top. I heard about loperamide helping w/ds, but never heard until now exactly how many it took to help. Of course, back when I only tried 2, it did no good. I used to think the loperamide suggestions were only for people who couldn't tolerate the diarrhea part of w/d. Tried this suggestion, and 10 at one time work for me.

Thank you for this. Some of us may be able to kick it out of our lives and continue working and living during the process.

I can confirm that loperamide prevents and/or eliminates opiate withdrawal. However, the high doses people take aren't necessary. In my case 2 did the trick. I think the misunderstanding is that people take a couple loperamides, wait 10 minutes & say 'oh man, this isn't working enough - I'd better take more'. After a couple hours with a total of 20 loperamides, all of a sudden the drug is felt. So people say, 'ah - 20 is the amount needed'. But that's a bad misunderstanding. What it is: it takes 2 hours for loperamide to cover an opiate withdrawal. You just need a couple and wait the 2 hours. Taking too much only re-poisons your body, so to speak. Just a regular dose will work if you can simply wait for it to take effect.

I wish I had known about this a long time ago...The five+ years I have been in pain management anyway. I was scripted 40mg Opana tid and 8 mg dilaudid qid and was on this dose approx 1.5 yes. Rewind back to July when I had surgery to remove a mass ( benign) from my chest. Ended up with sepsis, hospitalized two months total during which time the hospitalist neglected to fill out my FMLA papers. It cost me my job of eight years along with my insurance. Not having the astronomical amt of $ to get cobra, I was effectively screwed! Panicking the day before my last pills would be gone, I found out about the imodium option! With my tolerance, I started taking 10 (20mg total) of them, then 5 more about two hours later. I was shocked that it worked. I should say that I had run myself short NUMEROUS times between appts...and IMO w/D's are nothing short of torture from the rls, cold sweats, panic attacks and insomnia. By themselves, manageable..simultaneously=torture. I was so relieved it worked I almost cried. However, I am proceeding cautiously as I have read that long term use of loperamide can cause w/d itself which many have said was worse than methadone and sub. Peace and good luck to all!

The very first time I read this topic I got all excited to try it.  So when that time came around and I was going through the withdrawals, I went and bought a bottle of this stuff.  I took the amount it said to take.  I would space it out about every hour and take it until I had taken what was said to be taken.  This sh*t DOES NOT WORK at all!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, You can get a euphoria from the Loperamide.... the reason you didn't is because it doesn't cross the BBB - or blood brain barrier as easy - Omeprazole will help it to cross the blood brain barrier - I did it and it seemed to work a lot more effectively! yeaaaa

wow! wd's are gone!! lol unbelievable. slowly but surely you start to feel the come on as that of an opiate but not much euphoria. actually i feel euphoria a little but that could just be being wd free! lol who knows. hard to explain. i feel like i am high to some extent. it's like just no wd and not so anxious to call the man. i don't even feel depressed or have the anxiety wd bring:-) at first i was skeptical about this but i must agree. it works! i was willing to go the distance to gain my life back. whatever it was going to take. constipated over wds any day. you can easily out beat the constipation if you treat your body right with the dosages. many people praise this stuff. you should give it a try if your going through it. i took about 16 little green pills and gulped 2 30ml shots;-) i also keep vitamin c and many fluids around me at all times:-) it would take a hell of a lot to truly destroy yourself taking the loperamide. i seen some people post extreme amounts! different strokes for different folks. i wouldn't say pound a sh*t load down. i just went with what i felt was gonna do the trick. sometimes your mind and body speak to you. i say around 20 pills got me. try it! it really works and i wish i knew this long ago! thank god:-D

Hi Everyone!

I am going to try this(Loperimide) as I am tapering off of 80mg of Methadone .. I got myself down to 20mg as of yesterday with minor withdrawal  ..  BUT ...  My Question's ARE -> Is not using an Opioid substitute for an opiate just prolonging the detox/acute withdrawal symptoms?  Is it not better to detox without opiate/opioid substitutes and get them completely out your system?

Can someone please give me some advice here?

You need to take the immodium with Tagamet, which is an acid reducer ppl take 30 mins before they eat a meal to prevent acid reflux
. Yes it is correct that immodium definitely has opiate properties to it, hence why it clogs you up...however when taken as rx'd you eat it and it works via your digestive tract, there is way too much lining etc in your stomach for the opiate properties to break thru the blood brain barrier- that is why the tagamet is key-when taken with the immodium it breaks thru the blood brain barrier and will do wonders for someone in actual opiate withdrawal. You can actually kick with this combo. There Is a cheaper version of the Tagamet if you look up the generic name which begins with a c
Something similar to the word cinnamon. In sure if you want, you can figure it out. Good luck.

I did it...I did a 21 day take down with Methadone and I think that was a mistake Methadone is a nasty drug it is very addictive? It take a long time to leave your system! I went back on the Opana and could have kicked myself?? It has been over a year now...The last time I took the last script and just cut back and would only take a quarter of a pill just to keep the sick and jitters away ( I know, you are not to cut these pills) It was kinda like having the flu for 4-5 day's ! I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT!! If I did not still have the pain in my back it would have been easier to want to get off of them, A lot of it is mental, Good Luck!

Just popping in to add my .02 Oxy/hydro user for about four years daily. A few kicks--a couple rough ones that made me want to die and some that just sucked. I didn't believe imodium would work as anything more than a placebo, but I was dead wrong. Tried it out of desperation and it worked like a charm. Don't get me wrong, I don't feel great, some sweats here and there and general lethargy, but no soaking through my sheets, no crazy sneezing, yawning/eyes tearing, and I can sleep at night. I'm taking 20-30mg (10-15pills) per day, this is day two for me. Usually I would be freaking our with rls and wishing to score or die. Instead, I'm resting, doing some laundry, and going to work tomorrow. It may not work for everyone, but it works for me. Give it a shot!

What you are talking about that they put you on is called seroquil. I have never taken it but know some who have been to rehab and have taken it. Now as for your opiates most people on them are on about 180-240 mg a day. What was your dosage? If only 40 mg a day there is a big difference but I guess no one will know until they try it.

I have tried this before and it unfortunately did not work. I was afraid to take 20 so I took 15 nothing helped. I am addicted to the pain killer Norco and ambien. I want to stop so bad but the pain is so intense I can barely move. I am terrified and don't know what to do. At times I have had suicidal thoughts. I don't know how I got into this mess. it started with good intensions but grew. now I hide things, lie and don't want to leave my house. I am embarrassed about this situation. I feel so alone. I pray to god I won't wake up the next day. I am not working and that has added to my suicidal impulses.all IWANT TO do and stay in my house. The neighbors know I don't work and have made comments my roommate is getting on me to get another job because has been to long. I had a nice life before this and I don't see any ways out. I wish I never had these norcos but on the other hand they do work just too well.what can I do know I am so lost I have even just had a will made up in case something happen.someone please help me!
