That is so strange I really didn’t think I would find anything when I googled it but all if you have it too, has anyone found out why? It started just when I was eating I could taste butter but now it’s constantly there and been like it for about 3 days, unlike every one else I am a smoker and am over weight but I also have recently been taking vitamins including vitamin E so I wonder if that’s why?
I’m so relieved to find that other “healthy” people also experiencing this too. For the past 5 days I’ve had a pleasant buttery taste after all meals,
The thing I have in common with some of you is that I just recently re started my cod liver oil, although I don’t remember experiencing this when I took my fish oils in the past.
The other thing that has changed in the last 5 days is that I have re started my keto diet after a two week holiday in France chugging bread, pastry and wine like there was no tomorrow (lol)
The internet really isn’t helpful on this subject at all, so I plan to discuss this with my GP

I am currently experiencing this buttery taste (about 2 weeks now) and also am experiencing if twitching in my right eye! Your post was a year ago…did you ever figure out was happening? Were diagnosed with something To be concerned with? Has all resolved? I would appreciate any feedback on what these weird, unusual conditions might be symptoms of?

Did anyone ever figure this out ? I have same thing going on
I've been experiencing this as well. I don't smoke or drink, exercise regularly and eat healthy unprocessed foods that aren't high in fats. I don't take fish oils and my teeth and gums look and feel fine. I don't have a cold/flu.
From reading all of the replies here, I would narrow it down to a recent Omega3 increase either from taking supplements or eating fish or nuts, a sinus infection (I do have a slight tickle in the back of my throat but feel otherwise fine), or possibly an iron deficiency (less likely, seems like it would be more of a metallic taste) or other vitamin/mineral imbalance.
For myself, I think it's from eating cashews recently. In any case, it looks to be a temporary change of oral bacteria and not particularly harmful. Could try a dental appointment or a vitamin/mineral blood test from your GP. A strong mouth wash or sinus rinse could also help to reset things.

I have a butter taste in my mouth and eye flicker for last few months. I do have Parkinson’s and type 2 diabetic Mot sure if related
I have had the same issue for 6 months, which seemed to develop after I had a cold or virus. Not only do I have the buttery taste/smell in my mouth/nose but I can smell it on my skin, in my waste when I go to the bathroom. I don't take any supplements, no medications, etc so I can't attribute it to fish oils etc. I'm guessing it's because we've all had the vaccinations for covid and now we're all putting on weight and smelling things that aren't there. I also think it's a yeast or bacterial overgrowth in the system, but I don't have any other symptoms.
