I had the merena inserted in March 2013.. When i went for my check up in January 2014 there was no merena!! So my honest opinion is the merena isnt as save as everybody suggests it is! I gained alot of weight and never stoped bleeding!!
My mirena came out too. I had cramps and thought it was due to gas and/or constipation because that's been the cause before. I went to the bathroom and felt a very sharp pain in the lower part of my abdomen. When I finally pooped, that's not all that came out. I must have been trying so hard to poop that the mirena strings were at the opening of my vagina (where you would put a tampon in). I did not feel any pain from it coming down and into the vagina opening though and even 24hours later, I feel no pain. I'm wondering if the mirena caused some sort of problem such as infertility because I feel no cramping and there is no blood what so ever. What do you think i should do or should I wait for a month until a period comes? I'm very emotional and cry uncontrollably right now; I don't know why I'm crying like this--maybe it's just the hormone release. Anyway, I hate tomatoes and have been drinking 1/2 gallons of V8 for the past few weeks. Any thoughts?

Hi, I've had my mirena in for nearly a year and two days ago it came out during a really bad period! Really freaked me out but didn't hurt. I've also noticed my sweets cravings going up and my weight!! Not getting a mirena again. It lightened my periods but I had random spotting all the time.
In June I would have my mirena in for 5 years. Never had any pain with it nor any periods which is the reason i got 1 in the first place. I am now 53 years old and definately do not want any ore children. My question is, will i need to return to my Doc to have it removed or will it fall out itself? I want a little break before having another 1 put in. I must admit though I have gained ALOT of weight & yes I do like sweets or mainly chocolate which I rarely did before the mirena. But I also had quit smoking round the same time I got my mirena in so wondering if its the 2 combined that keeps putting the weight on round my girth.
Was it just floating there or did it sink down? I'm not sure if mine fell out or not, I went to have mine removed and replaced today andy Dr coul . Of find the strings!

Hi there yes I got the marina in 4 weeks after giving birth to out third child and yes it hurt like hell getting it in and after, infact i was having a lot of problems with it so much that after 4 weeks of having it in I went to get it removed, well that's a whole other story! Three of my doctors were poking pulling clamping and everything else in me to get this thing out when they realized it wasn't even there. We don't no what happend weather it fell out when I was going to the bathroom or while having sex with my husband which was only once from I got it in and it wasn't till after my six weeks so they really don't no what had happend we are still in the process of finding out. I would never ever think about getting the marina coil ever again.
That has happened to me. I have the Mirena inserted two days ago. I am feeling pain in my low stomach when I lay down especially. I feel hard plastic poking me. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow. I am 43 and have never had children. I feel it has slipped and when I checked for the coils I did not see anything. I am too much pain to sleep.
I was told by the doctor this would be a good fit for my situation...I'm a little heavy, having crazy periods twice a month and bleeding like no tomorrow,the day before the period came I'd be awakened by a terrible headache.I got the Merina in April 2015,went last month for a 3 month check-up and everything was good...today,August 6, it fell out wrapped in bloody clotted tissue.No warning,no nothing.Was uncomfortable when first got and havving it put in was almost worst than labor pains....and I've got 7 kids, having them all natural!!

Mine just fell out today! I felt something coming out and there it was on the floor covered in a clot. Sorry TMI moment.

Hello just saw your post and I wanted to respond because after tons of time researching on the Web you and I have similar stories. I had the mirena inserted with much pain but I healed and it worked like a champ. Took my periods away and no acne weight gain etc. After 5 yrs one night (no sex in weeks, as in I was not with a partner) my cousin and some friends were dancing and doing somersaults and whatnot....I have been more physically active than this before with no issues....well the next morning I was bleeding really bad *abnormal* so I went ahead and put in a tampon...the next day I went to remove the tampon and wh at I thought was the tampon string was apparently my mirena wires!!!!! I pulled and in my hand was not a tampon!!!!! How scary..!!!! I couldn't believe my eyes but moreso couldn't believe I wasn't in more pain....it was no harder than removing a tampon. Needless to say I was in shock and mild discomfort. I took i.b. prouphen and stayed mellow and the pain and bleeding subsided. This has been about 3-4 weeks and just yesterday I began bleeding again. This is bright red blood and some clotting.....I don't know what to do and part of me is scared to go in to the doc because I am afraid that some damage has been done long ago....I have had odd periods at times....after going a year or so with no spotting....could I have been have multiple miscarriages or has there been damage I wonder???? I am most concerned with this and how it came out anyway!!! Seems like when I have had sex within weeks like clockwork I would bleed kinda bad....some small and minor clots but to my knowledge I have never had a miscarriage and don't know what I am looking at. Any advice, ideas would be appreciated. ...thx
