I am so glad I found this site with these comments. I thought I was going crazy!! Every where on the internet all you hear is how wonderful CBD oil is for pain and inflammation. I started taking it and thought I was crazy when my pain increased all over my body. Muscle aches and joint pain everywhere.

It has to do with nerves and the thecal sac. When you smoke weed your blood pressure goes up. If you already have any back/disc movement where it's not suppose to be and your blood pressure all of the sudden goes up and effects other parts of body. That is what I think.

I agree with what everyone says about the back pain. I have noticed that I have a lot of aches and pains and just like splintered seem like it causes pain but has anyone ever noticed that when you don't smoke your body is in even more pain because it's craving that weed. Does anyone gel like that or is it just me. After I smoke some of my aches and pains stop.

Had to add my story. I’ve smoked since the late 1980’s but now it’s over. I’ve tested it so many times and it comes up the same every time. Whether I smoke or eat edibles or straight RSO I get the same results: awful pain in my mid back on the left side that stays for days/weeks after I quit. So terribly sad, but like others have said I guess it’s for the best. Thanks to all who told their story!

Just wanted to say i think it is possible what you are all describing is due to injury unrelated to smoking ar first. and then when you have smoked and are relaxed without proper rest and recovery, you are then having symptoms you are sensitive to with the weed. If you lay down and smoke, it may not put the stress on your back and you probably are having stress reaponses and paranoia. If you don't understand what is going on you may have a reaction that is based on adrenaline and could explain what is deacribed as intensity. The weed isn't hurting your back, but it is heightening your sensation of pain. Many extoll it's relaxing qualities, but your buzz may be killed if you are paraoid experiencing pain. It is reasonable to me your chomic or underwctable pain could seem more acute after smoking. There may be a more scientific explanation, but this is my layman's analysis of what could be going on here for you all.

The active components of marijuana target and attach to 2 types of receptors in your body: CB1 and CB2

"CB1 receptors: These receptors are found mainly in the brain, especially in the areas that control body movement, memory and even vomiting. This is why marijuana affects balance and coordination and impairs short-term memory and learning, and why it can be useful in treating nausea, pain and loss of appetite.

CB2 receptors: These receptors are found mainly in the immune system tissue, such as your spleen and lymph nodes, although in much smaller numbers."

The reason why so many people have lower back pain (left side) could be an acute reaction of your spleen, which is located at the exact spot where most of you are feeling the back pain...

The spleen has CB2-receptors that regulate the immune system and inflammation.
Google for "The CB2 receptor and its role as a regulator of inflammation" to read a medical report on the subject.

In another report (already mentioned on this forum) marijuana could trigger and prolong pain by switching of the natural pain regulator of the body, located in the spinal cord.
Google for "Active Ingredients In Marijuana Found To Spread And Prolong Pain".
That could be the reason why some of you have pain that roams in the body.

"In the spinal cord there's a balance of systems that control what information, including information about pain, is transmitted to the brain," said UTMB professor Volker Neugebauer.

Best regards, Luc

I have the exact same issue. I smoked every night for about a month. Now the lower back pain and spasms started and haven't gone away. I'm hoping that by abstaining for a few days or week the pain will go away. I did find a very technical article that described pot as causing issues with nerves leading to back pain - higher potency strains smoked often seem to be the culprit.

I’ve been having the same issue unfortunately. I’ve been smoking and eating marajuana for about 2 years but suddenly my back (kidney area) started hurting really bad. If I stop using it takes about 3 days for the pain to subside then I tried it again and the pain returned. I did this on and off “testing” for a month and it’s definitely the cause of my back pain! Sucks! Feels like it’s my Kidneys! 2 months clean and no pain!

I’m pleased to read this article because there is so little information about the paradoxical effect of cannabis.
In the 1980’s i was in my twenties and first experienced pain after smoking a joint. My pain was all over. It felt like it was just below the airfare of my skin but also deeper into my chest and gut. I don’t use again for twenty years, same effect. In 2019 I tried CBD

Hi I just found your post while doing a google search for the same exact kind of thought.

I have smoked weed for the last year conservatively but also consistently but am now starting to experience lower back pain when I smoke. I also notice my tongue gets more tied up when I’m talking and it takes more effort for me to pronounce my words well.

I have an undiagnosed immune system problem that gives me eczema but also sore joints. So I believe my back is already slightly stiff and the weed raises the intensity of that stiffness.
