Hi, I am wearing a holter monitor for 3 days, now, to diagnose my condition, since my heart speeds up enormously after eating. I definately suffer from tachycardia. My ranges after eat are 120-150 bpm. What could be the reason?

I started to have these symthons twooyears ago and went to the emergency on few occasions. They said I was dehydrated and my potassium was low. I do notice it after having lots of sweets or a heavy carb meal. Dietican said it can be my sugar shooting up for too rapidly. When my heart starts to speed up I start to drink lots of water and it goes away.
I also have anxiety and suffer from panic attacks, they started when I was in my late 20's. But when I was 17 my heart started skipping beats. It has done this my whole life. I have been to the cardiologist and was told that I have mitral valve prolapse with regurgitation. In my case, this is non-life threatening, just scary. It feels to me like my heart is skipping a beat, but he said that it was actually picking up an extra beat. When the attack happens, he told me to cough a few times...and sure enough, it seems to kick my heart back to beating regularly. You might ask your doctor if this is what you have.
Mine ended up being related to blood sugar. As I eat carb filled meals without enough protein, fat or fiber, my body produces excess insulin and my blood sugar drops at a rapid rate. As my blood sugar is dropping, I feel the rapid heart beat.
Start eating meals every 3 hours to stabilize blood sugar. You will notice a difference. (#God is Good!!)
HI, i'm 26 years old and i've been suffering form this case for almost three weeks. It's non stoppable whether i'm eating or not it just happens, and specially when i go to sleep, it's really scaring me but everyone is saying it's because i eat junk food too much and i get anxious also too much. But I've been like this all my life, why this happened just now?
Severe stress (as well as chronic stress, inflammation, high sugar diet etc) can cause adrenal exhaustion. The symptoms can be fatigue, depression, anxiety, inability to handle stress, dizziness upon standing up, low blood pressure etc. Over time adrenal exhaustion can lead to low thryroid (in most cases in a form of Hashimoto). Symptoms can overlap: Anxiety, depression, racing heart, extreme fatigue, weight gain etc). Adrenals are sesponsible for secreting cortisol among other very important hormones. Cortisol helps us deal with stress, inflammation, low blood sugar etc. Both too high and too low cortisol are bad for you. In a case of severe adrenal exhaustion people can't get out of bed in the morning. You have to take a cortisol saliva test (not blood), see what your levels are throughout the day and then rebuild them with supplements and minerals (Vit C (2-5 g/day, Vit B1, B3, B5, B6, B7, B12 mega doses, Magnesium (200-400 mg, Selenium (200mcg), Zink Carnosine 30mg or Zink Orotate. Botanicals will vary depending on wether you have high or low cortisol. Safest ones are Ashwaganda and Bacopa. You have to eliminate stress, rest often, sleep in, don't overdo things and your adrenals and thyroid will slowly rebuild. Takes time. If you want the help of a practitioner, find a functional medicine practitioner in your area if you can afford it (not your personal physician).
mine does the same thing....
Hello I am having rapid and strong pulse rate after eating please help me I am scared I am wearing a holter monitor right now
Well if you are wearing a holter monitor then your doctor thinks there is something to check into further and that is what they are doing right now. The print out from the machine, another doctor will look at that which will be your heart readings of your heart rate, if it skips, if its slow or fast - this is read by a CARDIOLOGIST. Any problems they will notice right away and hopefully diagnosis it or do more tests.
I've dealt with racing heart and palpatations(like an off-beat flutter...scary as heck). I notice sometimes I get them after big meal or sometimes I have them for weeks at a time for what seems like not reason. I will say this (Drs won't acknowledge connection) but I get these most after Ive taken fish oil or any omega 3 with fish oil. I almost feel like its an allergy causing possible inflamation which in turn cause heart flutter. I don't know just thought is contribute to see if anyone has ever had same issue. My family Dr. And cardiologist have done tests and all come back fine.
you might have a food allergy
I have a few answers/suggestion to some of the sufferers here. I'm a 31 year old male and was diagnosed with having "ectopic heartbeats" which is quoted as being a "benign arrhythmia"... but that doesn't make it any less terrifying. Ectopic heartbeats often feel like your heart is stopping for a second or so, followed by a rapid succession of beats (sometimes one big thud)... many times after/during these episodes I will feel dizzy, gasp for air, or feel exhausted for hours. As far as the heart issues after eating is concerned... I have the same problem and it doesn't seem to matter what I eat... although I CAN say that you should ALL avoid foods that are very high in sodium... I've noticed especially eating certain very salty foods at restaurants that my blood pressure goes up, heart gets extremely irritated and even my stomach aches quite badly. Diet is very important and making sure that you aren't eating too much sodium or msg should be the first step to calming your heart. Sadly, some people (myself included) may simply be too sensitive to certain types of foods and additives... and we are forced to either avoid them like the plague or to endure the side effects. It is odd that my heart seems to race even when even foods like fruits and vegetables... but it is what it is. Staying away from caffeine, nicotine, many types of cold/allergy medicines, etc. are also ways to keep your heart from acting erratically. Not getting more than a few hours of sleep really effects my heart as well... beats weird all day if I don't get at least 6 to 8 hours... preferably 8+ hours. So again, there could be multiple causes for all of these issues, but hopefully this is helpful for some of you.
I have similar condition since last 10 years.....same to same exactly what you have mentioned...I think there is some imbalance of neurochemicals in the Brain or hormonal imbalances which are the cause of tachycardia after meals. Autonomous nervous system misjudges when the food gets ready for digestion resultantly orders heart to beat faster to aid digestion. This condition so far could not be eliminated from root, however , with the help of beta blocker like inderal and anti anxiety pill like Valium has helped masking the irritability and panic situation during the episode.
