Heart races after eating

Hi, I am wearing a holter monitor for 3 days, now, to diagnose my condition, since my heart speeds up enormously after eating. I definately suffer from tachycardia. My ranges after eat are 120-150 bpm. What could be the reason?

I have the same thing, After eating i get heart pulpertations and increaded heart rate. Went to Doc and told me it could be acid reflux. Gave me some Tabs and i did feel better. I am now trying Apple cider vinegar which also helps
I have had these same symptoms many of you describe. Heavy, hard heartbeats within 30-45 minutes of eating. A few urgent care and ER visits and many conversations with my doctor and they all write it off to anxiety (which I don't have) or "just one of those things" as the ER doctor put it. Like many of you, I thought it was sugar at first but I have since narrowed it down to my SALT intake. I would be curious if any of you have thought about salt being the culprit? Or, that in reading this you may discover that salt is, indeed, your issue? I'm still exploring this explanation and will be talking to my doctor about it at my next appointment but I would be curious to know if anyone else makes this discovery.
Me too, ditto, ditto, ditto on everything on this page. During my last doc visit, I said, "Do me ONE favor: When you listen to my heart, listen for more than 2 seconds." He did... I was able to nod each time my heart skipped a beat, so he knew that I knew. There's the issue with "benign palpitations and tachycardia" and one commenter on this page had it SO right: It's the racing heart (or skipping beat) that causes the panic -- not the other way around. Regardless (back to the office visit), the doctor not only addressed my concerns, he answered in a way that offered me tremendous comfort. He said, "Yeah... When mine first started doing that, I thought I was having a heart attack. I had stress tests and..." You get the picture. He gave me no answers, diagnoses, or treatments, but he did offer me the comfort of not being merely dismissed out of hand. I glean a modicum of relief by taking Metoprolol (a beta-blocker), and by occasionally sleeping in an easy chair, half up-right (It seems to get worse when I lie down.), and by not over-eating. This is real, and someone, somewhere, needs to figure out what it is.
Do you still deal with this? Your symptoms are just like mine including the bp spikes. Would love to hear from you
It can be a food allergy or reactive hypoglycemia.
This is EXACTLY what happens to me. My blood pressure runs normal/low until I have one of these heart rate episodes, then it goes up really high. Did you ever figure this out?
I was just diagnosed with celiac disease. I've been googling my symptoms and celiac disease and it's all making sense. I strongly encourage everyone who doesn't have an answer to these symptoms that you are having to please get tested for it
Have you been checked for diabetes?  Also, try eating more frequent and smaller meals with less carbohydrates in general and I would bet that the tach episodes will be less frequent. Get your Blood Sugar checked!
I have the same issue. I think it may be related to insülin metabolism.
Hi everyone.  25 y/o male, 260 lbs.   I've been dealing with what sounds like the same thing.  I feel 100% normal most of the day, then after a meal (not all meals, but always after eating) I get a horrible spike in heart rate, flushing in the face and neck, and dizziness/nausea for an hour or two.   Already went to the ER and got the holter monitor.  In the ER I felt better once they saw me so they chalked it up to anxiety, but I know it's not.  I'm just so glad to see that I'm not the only one with this.
I'm new to this, having svts. I think long term anxiety has played a role in mine. I didn’t have any symptoms until I started cymbalta. Been completely off of it for well over a month. Still have svts, throat discomfort and my teeth hurt. Started verapamil 2 days ago. It helps but I probably need to give it more time. Going to have a lot of testing this week. I should find out more. Look up enhanced external counterpulsation therapy.
Sounds like an electrolyte imbalance. Try taking supplements such as magnesium, calcium, zinc and potassium. Drinking smart water or other drinks with electrolytes will help.
For about a week now I have been getting dizzy and my heart really racing after dinner. I'm 62, don't take any medication and don't have any illnesses. I'm vegetarian drink plenty of water, and very fit generally. Sleep well....etc But this is suddenly happening. It doesn't happen every day maybe every other day. And it comes on about 30 minutes to an hour after eating dinner. Then passes about 3-4 hours later. Then I feel totally normal! And normal all day! Feel really weird, like I'm not in charge of my legs, and a bit distant, and a bit scared or anxious while it's happening. I take myself for a gentle walk in the orchard or garden, which sometimes eases it slightly, but it doesn't go away for about 3 hours. Does anyone know what this is? It is so difficult to get an appointment with a doctor here. And I don't particularly want to unless it's urgent.
I have the EXACT same thing 30 mins after eating amd for 3 hours more. The cause is the vagus nerve. It causes gastroparesis and tachycardia after eating any meal really. Go to a chiropractor and maybe get your spinal column fixed as it can have subluxations that are pushing your atlas and vagus nerve
No caffeine in sprite, 7up, root beer, ginger ale. Ijs
