Guys, here is my story.
About two weeks ago, I noticed a 'stinging' feeling in my testicles. When I checked it out, the left side of the sac looked bright red. However, I did not notice any other unusual rash, so I played the 'wait and see' game.
Well, 'wait and see', came a few days later, when I noticed a new rash on my upper inner thigh, right next to my scrotum (which was still stingy, especially after showering !). The new rash looked dark red and was arranged like several dots all in a certain area (about a 1/2 inch in total length). Yet, that rash did not itch (and still doesn't), but my testicles were getting worse (in the shower, it looked like little blood patches were on my sac).
I also noticed skin chafing on my sac, as well as the bright red color, and a certain smell occuring, as well. Tiny bits of skin were peeling off, here and there, too. A few days later, the thigh rash got a wee bit bigger and defined, and the scrotum rash moved to the right side. Soon the scrotum rash moved underneath the sac. Days later, I now noticed a redness on the bottom tip of my penis shaft. So, in two weeks, it went from stingy left ball sac, to inner thigh, to right ball sac, to underneath ball sac, and now under my penis shaft.
Does this sound like Jock Itch to you ?
I'm using baby powder, which seems to help, and I'm thinking of starting on Lamisil, but I'm not sure I'm on the right track with that. Any ideas ?
A few things to keep in mind. If your jock itch goes away, it may not FULLY go away...just lying in wait to spring out again. You should use anit fungals for two weeks after the rash is completely gone just to make sure it stays dead.
Another thing is antibiotics - especially broad-spectrum- will aggravate fungus- making your jock itch worse or if it was lying dorminant- awaking it. Since antibiotics removes your "good" bacteria.
And yet another thing- If your concerened about herpes- obviously get checked but please- for your own mental sanity- do NOT read internet posts on Herpes- EVERYTHING is herpes on the internet- if you have a sniffle- you have herpes- you get what i'm saying- They will even say herpes will have no symptoms, or every symptom, or it will mask about 100 other things. The anxiety you feel after reading things like this will actually increase your discomfort
The best way to tell if you have herpes is if you have painful puss-y sores on your gentials- or around the gential area and anus- they start off as liquid filled blisters- pop open creating painful sores that will crust over and eventually fall off-
Redness high up on the crotch- bikini-line-groin area- especially on both sides- sounds like jock itch or cortch rot or some type of fungus...I don't believe herpes follows a pattern like that where it would be on both bikini lines and not anywhere on the penis or testicles.
If you sweat alot- don't change underwear often- don't beth often- have a moisty area down there- it's most certainly Jock itch
If you get jock itch after sex- makes sense- because after sex your crotch is moist from fluids and if get dressed over that moisture- you have created a perfect enviorment for fungus to thrive- wet- dark-warm
mine doesn't burn either it just itches but when I pee it does a lil burn not constantly
Wish there was a way to organize the solutions to this and maybe have a voting (thumbs up/down) to see how many people they work for. Won't go on, but I've had this for a couple years now: tried every anti-fungal imaginable as well as a couple antibacterials as recommended here with no results. Moderately depressed about it, and can be a real bleep when working outside. Anway if anybody has some idea on how to organize some of the solutions posted here please let us know. And keep us updated with your success stories: somebody's got to figure out how to get rid of this..
I hate to tell you this, but I had exactly these symptoms in 2006 and it persisted for a few months. I had multiple skin biopsies of my leathery, red and itchy scrotum skin and was diagnosed with lichen sclerosis. A very strange diagnosis for a man. Oh, and I also had the rash on my inner thighs...also, very uncomfortable. To make a long story short, it turns out that I had Hodgkins Lymphoma...which accounted for my multiple and mysterious skin problems. Six months of chemotherapy followed by 30 days of radiation therapy cured my cancer AND the skin problems have never returned. Get checked out! And be persistent. It took a full chest X-ray to find my cancer...and about six months before the doctors discovered my real problem.
yikes, thanks for sharing this info! I've had the leathery red-some times smelly scrotum. rash on inner leg, and I too was diagnosed with lichen sclerosis. Now I'm thinking I may have what you had. Thanks for sharing this!
Is there anything else you could share with me? as in what can I ask the doctors to look for-get on track to see if that is it. I've had all these same problems, and the lichen sclerosis has just not seemed like it to me. Also did you by any chance have foul smelling stools as well? Thanks
No foul smelling stools, but I had many other weird problems. I will try and list them here: I would wake up with what seemed like a mild case of hives and then I would get a skin infection a few days later that my doctors would treat with antibiotics. This would happen about once per month...extremely uncomfortable.
I would develop large patches of super irritated skin which would transform into something looking like excema (sp?). Doctors treated the symptom and did not look for the cure.
My ears would ooze small amounts of foul smelling thick liquid. Doctors were totally perplexed about this!
Other things which are difficult to describe in detail, but I will try. My body just felt like I had an internal pressure. My tongue would feel swollen and be painful, but I could not see any evidence when I looked in the mirror. I was quite tired most of the time.
Finally, I found that I could not see my left collarbone when I looked in the mirror (my right side was swollen with NO pain). It was kind of like a soft lump. I would never have noticed it except that after I drank a beer one night, I felt like I had some drainage in my throat and had very slight difficulty swallowing...again, NO pain...only discomfort. This symptom is what prompted my doctor to order a CAT scan. But, this was about 10 months after I first noticed the rash on my inner thighs. Maybe two years after first suffering from the chronic scrotum issue.
Once I found out my diagnosis (a terrible few days of multiple tests), I found that this type of cancer is more common in young men (I was 40 years old at the time) from the ages of 20-40 years old. Fortunately, while this type of cancer is deadly if untreated, it is TOTALLY cureable with well known and standard chemo treatments. BUT, it is rare, only about 3000 cases per year in the US, so doctors do not think of this diagnosis when looking for a root cause.
I am curious. How old are you and have you had other symptoms that are strange and difficult to articulate? Also, what part of the country do you live? I was living in West Virginia at the time of this life event. Now, I am living and working in Shanghai, China.
Also, when I had the chest CAT scan, they found a "mass" near my thymus (what is that?, I had no idea at the time). It turns out that this mass was preventing my lymph node system from being able to drain properly and that is why I was feeling the internal pressure. Also, why my ears were oozing ( the "lymph" was unable to drain properly and was like a clogged sewer line!). Also, my skin irritation and infections were due to my body not being able to excrete all of the toxins that the "lymph" was attempting to remove. I am an organic chemist by training, so my descriptions may be too vivid. If so, please accept my apologies and please let me know what you think and what you find.
"so my descriptions may be too vivid.." Not at all thanks for sharing. So you know it's weird. For me all the symptoms started around the same time two years ago: chronic leathery red scrotum, intermittent rash on inner thigh, something that doesn't smell right in my stool, and swelling of my urethral meatus which is what led the doctors to diagnose me with lichen sclerosis. It just seems strange that all these symptoms should start at the same time, and like you said lichen sclerosis is very rare in men. (I'm 32 by the way). I can't say that I've had any of the other symptoms you mention, but it sure is worth looking in to-especially since I smoked cigarettes for 15 years and have a family history of cancers. In any case thanks again for sharing your info-people caring enough to share their story is the only way that many people will find cures-helping eachother out, so cheers man.
Dude, you get laid less than once a month, maybe a rash isn't your most serious problem.
