my stomach has been doing this for years I went to my doctor about it he listened to the growling chuckeled and said yea you definitly have a loud stomach that was all now when i tee it up and it starts to growl i try to hide it with a cough......please help
I’m so sorry this is happening to you. Within the last 2 yrs my stomach, which used to be totally quiet, became non-stop LOUD gurgling. I’ve had CF for 13 yrs, & since above severe food intolerance to 99% of foods & gurgling. I have spent well over $10k trying to fix this. I worked for 2 years in the health food industry and honey, if it's out there I've done the detective work and tried everything of merit to no avail. Including the highest quality probiotic from Renew Life – which I still take because it IS good for me, BUT it didn’t do anything to change my symptoms. It’s truly the best probiotic available for sale. I'm telling you I'm like freakin' super brainiac Sherlock Holmes & I'm like genealogist that keeps digging and making connections until I come up with the best answer. I agree with another post I saw – try raw milk – the only thing I would add is try raw GOAT milk. Last week I started raw goat milk and I know that’s the reason why stomach gurgling has gone away. I don’t know if pasteurized would do the trick or not. I did buy raw cow milk at same time, BUT I’ve noticed intestinal burning with the cow milk and none with the goat’s milk so it must be the goat milk that is helping me AND okay for my digestion – no burning. I have not drank any goat milk in a couple of days and have had ONLY TWO brief instances of loud, short growls today and haven’t had any in at least a few days. I had my last glass of goat milk 2 days ago and I noticed while I was drinking the goat milk stomach was quiet all day, but I can’t say WHEN the gurgling stopped. I drank it for a total of 5 days & I’m thinking I was ‘quiet for a couple days before it dawned on me that it had gone away. Keep in mind depending on the breed of goat, what they are grazing on and your taste buds that there can be a slight taste…. Ask around at local health food stores till you find someone who drinks it and can lead you to a good dairy. If they have a café where you could buy a small amount to try that would be preferable. I have a friend who owns a health food store and she says goats milk shouldn’t have a taste at all. Just ask around. I’ll do that, too, and try another brand next time! You have to make up your own mind whether you feel raw is 'safe'. When you’re reading the negative stories on raw milk keep it in perspective. There are lots of people drinking it and have never gotten sick. Just found Jon Barron online E coli outbreak article very thorough and logical. Go online and read about raw milk. Do Google searches like: Raw goat’s milk+South Carolina , or Raw milk+IBS or Raw milk+IBS forum etc. Just trying to give you some tips. Maybe talk to the people in your local health food store to find the most reputable and best tasting dairy in your area. I pray you have your health back soon!
TNTOUGH, I know your post is 7 years old, BUT, I want to THANK YOU! I'm 39 years old and have had this horrible problem since my freshman year in college. I feel for so many of you who are students experiencing anxiety over this! I went through a TOUGH 4 years, dodging classes, worrying about my stomach making these TERRIBLE noises, and fellow student staring at me. I visted many doctors in college and it was ALWAYS the same recommendation... Metamucil, prescription AXID to lower the acid in my stomach, charcoal tablets, Pepto tabs, Tums, etc. etc. I just accepted my "stomach" issues until a few weeks ago when my stomach went absolutely BEZERK during a church meeting! I "googled" and found this blog. I have been on Culturelle and it's been GREAT. It's not a 100% fix, but it's DRASTICALLY cut my "stomach issues" and noises! I've been eating better, smaller portions, drinking a lot of water, and popping a Culturelle tablet every morning. It's helped me so much... Cut out carbonated drinks, sip slowly (no gulps), small portions, and don't eat a big meal before classes/meetings. Hope this helps...
I came across this article and started crying because all you students talking about wanting to leave school because of it, skipping school because of it, this is exactly what is happening to me and I dont know how to stop it.
It began about half a year ago. We've come to the conclusion it's because I'm wheat/gluten intolerant. Possibly lactose. I avoid all of that now. It doesnt help that I dont eat meat and I dont eat fruit and vegetables - it's almost like a food phobia.
So this problem began over the last summer holidays, I came back to school and everything went downhill. I was always a good student but when my stomach/intestines/ whatever made this loud gurgling noise - that was obvious to even the stupidest of people wasnt a hunger noise - I became paranoid. It kept coming back again and again and after several attempts to find a way to stop it (Even after cutting out gluten and what not from my diet) the pain has gone and I'm left with the noises to deal with.
I have exams in under a month and after that I'm free to leave school. I'd happily go to uni, stay in education for as long as possible, but that doesnt seem possible anymore. Nobody close understands why I make such a big deal about the noises.
I'm so paranoid, nothing seems to help me. I'm too scared to go into the exam hall when exam season starts just in case of these noises, jeeze, I'm too scared to even go to school most days.
I used to love school a year ago. Now it's my worst nightmare.
i separated with a man i really loved in a very dramatic way. i was so shocked, i couldn't believe it so i got anxious, worried, stressed and i went through so many emotions, crying a lot too. i have always had IBS, my mother has it, so this situation only made it worse, its been a week now, my stomach rumbles so loudly and i get the sudden urge to release, i go to the loo and get very small bits of very light stool, i got worried and saw ma GP but even that is not helping since me and the guy are still trying to sort things out and it is heavy on me, the rumbling wont stop and the tummy wont hold anything, just dont know what to do anymore, i have resigned to fate.
Hey this was 6 years ago, i wanted to ask if you found some sort of treatment. i have the same thing, and it really pisses me off. thanks
Wow. I have read through all of these and feel the exact same way. I don't know why but this all started about a year ago and I am 18 years old. It is all SO irritating and I too feel that it is taking over my life. I have told my mom about this and she suggests that I am either lactose intolerant or that I may have chrome's disease. The most fearful effect that the growling has on me is the fact that anyone and everyone can hear it in class. That really is my biggest fear and because I think of that, I start to get more nervous and anxious which makes it worse. I am never comfortable either, always sweating and moving around to try to get it to stop. It really is torture and it doesn't help that not a lot of people have this problem (well, besides the people on here of course). I try not to worry about it too much because I know that other people do have it and even worse problems like lactose intolerance and IBS but it's hard not to worry. Mainly, I just want the growling to stop. If it wasn't so loud, it wouldn't be a problem. I don't like high school that much anyways but having this issue just makes me want to stay home even more and honestly makes me scared to go to class.
Avoid milk, milk products, artificial sweetners. Have one "Zinetac 150" tablet and one "Stelbid" tablet just BEFORE breakfast and again the two tablets just BEFORE lunch. Try to have one or two bananas after dinner. I hope this helps.
I developed "noisy stomach" about two years ago. I relate to you completely about the fear of quiet places. I found what helped me tremendously is acai berry. I take a liquid supplement I found on Amazon (the brand name is "now" and it's about $12 for a month supply). The day I started taking it the noise all but disappeared. I found when I buy the cheap stuff from Grocery Outlet, it doesn't work. I hope this helps! Good luck!
I have commented to others on this post... what worked wonders for me is acai berry supplements. Get the good stuff-- I get mine on Amazon (liquid form, "Now" makes it). I take a tablespoon in the mornings and noticed an immediate difference. I really hope it works for you. Take care.
I've had this problem for about four years and I found out it is due to anxiety and self-esteem problems :(( it is actually a diagnosed phobia called borborygmi. I developed the anxiety when I moved to a new school and found it hard to make new friends so when one day my belly growled ever so silently I immediately looked around to see if anyone noticed....no one did. All of the sudden I became more fearful and started asking myself "what if it growled louder?" "What if someone heard and thought I was weird??". Overtime the fear developed into a phobia where I had anxiety attacks during tests and quiet class times: sweating palms, heart racing on a adrenaline rush, and I just could not concentrate very well. Overtime after trying so hard to decipher why this growling happened I figured out it only occurred when I thought about the stomach growling. When the class did loud projects or when I felt absolutely comfortable in the classroom all stomach growling stopped I totally forgot about my fear, therefore, my fear did not come true. The key is relaxation which is SO hard when all you can think during a test or quiet situation is "everyone will hear my stomach. Not just one person but EVERYONE in this room can hear my stomach." I learned to just stop these thoughts altogether and fixate my attention on something else. In addition, I had to tell my mom about my problem and she tried to understand as much as she could and she did pretty good based on the circumstances....I mean, a fear of stomach growling? Yeah it's pretty unusual but I learned to accept it. I learned I was just worried about what other people would think of me and when it came down to the basics, there was nothing wrong with my stomach. I never had this stomach issue until I MADE it a bigger issue than it really was. If you do re-lapse, which I do, you just have to learn to accept it. Shrug it off like nothing happened or blame it on not eating enough, just do whatever makes you comfortable. Nothing says you don't give an F better than some good ol' confidence. Just have confidence in yourself and you can get through it! Good luck to those who have this problem...I still have the fear but its SO much better than it used to be :)) I'm glad to know I'm not the only one out there with this problem.
I'm 19 and I've had this problem for the last five maybe six years but it gradually got worse until the last year and a half. I started getting severe pains in my stomach and lower body that often lead to me being crippled over in pain, but it only ever lasted for a couple of minutes so I just let it go. I also have not had a regular bowl movement in over two years (excuse the details) but I have either been constipated or had painful diarrhea. When I finally went to my GP and was diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety problems almost 6 months ago she explained that this is all due to my physiological problems, merely taking a physical form. I tried changing my diet and exercising a lot more and it only made it worse. The growling noise is one of the worst problems and is annoying to not only me but everyone around me, I left school because of my depression and anxiety but I can't even sit and watch a movie or tv with my friends because the loud rumbling and growling sound means that they can't even concentrate on the film. It's even led them to believe that i'm starving myself, it's so nice to know that I am not the only one with this problem.
To all of you who suffer from constant intestine growling, I am one of you, I had exactly the same symptoms since 4 years ago (read my story in previous posts if u wish). This random treatment made my life much more easier. Please try this on your own risk, or consult your GP first. First, buy 2 liters of high quality virgin olive oil (avoid counterfeit or low quality). Then, try to drink 3-4 spoons of that in the morning, then every 3 hours. The exact dosage is unknown as the treatment is new and that different bodies have different characteristics. At the same time, try to eat only one meal during the day, and only some fruit salad at night, all meals must be served in small portions. Try to drink more of virgin olive oil if you can. Mixing it with fresh lime juice helps a lot (of course they don't mix, try to make a suspension. Continue for 2 weeks or more. Lessen the amount of food while on this diet, as the olive oil makes you feel that you need less food, you will not get hungry like before, trust me. I did that and I felt like I was born again. I wish I could find the root cause of this nasty disease soon. (SLZ).
