To all women suffering negative side effects from the NovaSure procedure,
I am writing all of you to let you know that I created a Facebook group called "NovaSure (Endometrial Ablation) Did Me Wrong...", you can post your negative experiences there and let everyone know what is going on.
I had the NovaSure procedure done in December of 2010. At first it was great. I had very light periods for the first three months or so and everything was so much better than the disastrous periods I was experiencing prior to the procedure. After about 9 months passed, the pain started. I had pains, for almost a week straight. I thought I may have had a stomach flu or something the first time the pain started, but when it came back the next month at the same time as the month before, I knew it was something else because they were even stronger than the previous time I had them. After the fourth month of the recurring pain, like labor pains if not worse, I made an appointment to see the doctor that performed the surgery and he told me that I was suffering from "Post-Ablation Syndrome". He also mentioned that this would continue monthly, when I was expected to have my period.
Well isn't that just fan-freaking-tastic... Since then, I have gone to the ER three different times. The first time they performed a few blood tests and an ultrasound (to make sure I didn't have appendicitis) and gave me some crazy pain medication that made me almost scratch my face off. Each time after that they just tried to drug me up with pain medication and when I refused and asked them to perform surgery or something else, they turned me away. My doctor practices under a Catholic Hospital and refuses to perform a hysterectomy, which I have found is my only other option (aside from being on heavy pain pills) in order to get rid of the pain.
Today I am still living with the pain from the ablation procedure. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find any other options to cure this problem. Due to the complications and negative side effects that I have encountered, I am going to attempt to file a class action lawsuit against the NovaSure device. I understand the NovaSure device is considered to be a "Class III Medical Device", but that does not mean that it cannot be investigated and possibly sued for the side effects we are suffering. Honestly, I am not looking to gain any monetary compensation as a result of this lawsuit. There is no amount of money that could ever replace the amount of time I have spent laying in bed with a heating pad on my abdomen, bawling my eyes out because I can't stand the pain and there is nothing I can do about it. Nor could any amount of money replace the suffering my husband and children have been through due to my monthly condition. Not only has my home life suffered, but I have had quite a few issues with extracurricular activities as well. I am unable to exercise, which has caused me to gain weight. I cannot concentrate well in my college classes when I am in pain, which has caused some of my grades to slip. And it is almost impossible for me to find a job because I am pretty much incapacitated during the week I am in pain.
That goes without saying that I wouldn't even wish this pain on my worst enemy. For anyone going through what I am, I am very sorry and I feel your pain. Please feel free to contact me through email (I know personal information should not be given out over the internet, but I have made a special email account to be used only for people that are in my situation and would like to stand with me against this procedure.) I can be reached at

Please do not hesitate to contact me. As I said, I am contacting an attorney that specializes in class action lawsuits and I need as many cases that are like mine as I can find to help get the ball rolling.
Best wishes and warm regards,
Kris
I had the NovaSure done in Nov.2012. I believe I am going through some sever side affects . It is now March 2013. I have discovered that I am urinating through the vaginal area, I have frequent bladder infections, and I feel lots of pain and pressure in the vaginal area " the pain feels like I just gave birth"! I found tissue 1/2 in the opening of the vagina. I went to my doctor and he did an examination and told me its impossible to urinate through the vagina and he has never heard of that. And told me he dose't work in the pluming department. I would have to go to a urologist. The pain and the pressure is so bad I almost went to the hospital the other night. I feel very heavy down there when I walk around a lot. The pain is worse at night. I also been having sever back pain. I just don't know what to do. Dose any one have any advice?
I had NovaSure and Tubal Ligation done on Feb 11, 2013. I no longer have quality of life. I am in agony 24 hours a day. The pain is unbearable especially at night. My surgeon did several ultra sounds and told me he found nothing wrong. The surgeon told me that what I am experiencing is not related to the procedures he did. I had no pain prior to surgery. So, for my first punt, I was referred to a general surgeon. I am currently awaiting results from a CAT Scan that was done yesterday morning ordered by the new general surgeon. I too was never warned of any side effects from either procedure. The only comfort I have found is that I am not alone. I will try to continue to update on my story.
I had the novasure procedure as well as the Essure permanent sterilization and am currently day 4 post OP... prior to surgery I was anemic and had heavy cramping, and periods that would last for 2+ weeks. My water retention was close to 10 lbs every month. I would work every month to get my iron levels up high enough so that I could make it up a hill without being out of breath. (I walked 6 miles a day but the smallest hill would make me pause). I guess my question is, has the Novasure helped with anemia at all for any of you? Do you notice a difference in your oxygen carrying capacity? Also, how are your hormone levels now that your uterus is changed?
I have had novasure done 6 weeks ago (19 Feb)and also had 2 polyps removed. Experienced back ache, till today, discharge and now I have my period, for the first time. Its lighter but period pain is starting. I did have a couple of weeks of bliss and thought "wow this feels great"...wishful thinking. So I say hang in there and wish for the best. It is worth it.
hello i have aslo had it done it's been 3yrs. for me i have read some of your posts i did experince some PMS systoms too i did'nt have any back pain with mine so i don't know wht to say abt that and i have not gained weight either in fact i have lost weight after having it done i did not have any disgharge of any kind nor did i have a peroid since. i have had a liitle bleeding after having intercourse but it's only happend twice. but i do want to know somthing any else over 2yrs? has any one experinced this? i had a tumor on my right ovary i had to have my ovary removed last yr. march 27, and im now have pain on my left side now. has anyone had this problem?
I had it done in 2012 and have no periods or much pain. I still have pms each month. I started to gain weight and more headaches than before. Nothing major so far. I have NO period and no back pain that is excessive or out of the ordinary. I do feel some back pain during my "cycle time" (when I would normally have menstrual cycle) but otherwise ok.
Dear all,
i have never listed this site before but I was after some answers. I had novasure Feb2013 since then I have had almost constant headaches, the most awful contraction like pains and I have had 2 children so I know how it feels and I am soooooo tired all the time not good when you work full time and have 2 young children. I have had no bleeding but awful smelli g discharge but its bit an infection.:-( I have pcos>;)endometriosis and adeomyosis so periods were awful but now I would do anything for a period
I notice that I get a pain "like a catch" on my left side. I still have a small period and keep track of my cycle. It seem when I'm ovulating or on my period that always happens. It feels like my uterus is expanded like I'm having a baby...but I'm not! I will be asking my doctor this month at my 2 year checkup. I'm sure that there is a connection to the NovaSure and these symptoms.
I had Novasure done 2 years ago. I had read all the different blogs and saw that a lot of women experience issues afterwards, but I still went ahead cause I figured I was going to be one of the lucky ones. My period never stopped and my OBGYN eventually told me that the procedure just didn't seem to work for me. About 1 year later, I got extreme cramping (equals me on all fours, panting like a dog). I figured I was going to get my period however it never for about two months. When it final came, it didn't stop so I went to the OBGY to check things out. Apparently I had developed quite a bit of scar tissue and the scars now made it difficult for the uterus to bleed normally. He recommended a hystorectomy. I went to another GYNO for a second opinion and he told me that I had a lot of blood pooled in my uterus which wasn't draining properly, he sent me to get some blood work done. Next day I got a call from my GYNO who wanted to admit me to the hospital as I had developed a very bad uterine infection. After a few rounds of antibiotics everything went back to normal and I got my period regularly again. About 9 months later my cycles started to become irregular again. Now mY FSH levels are very high (140 plus apparently 20-30 is in the normal range for my age) and there are now things in my uterus that he can't explain from the ultrasound what they are. I went for a CT scan today, more blood work and have a follow up in a couple of days. I can't help but think that Novasure was a bad choice for me and I wish I would have done the hysterectomy.
After a CT scan, numerous ultra sounds and a D&C I still live in pain 24 hours a day. To those of you asking about back pain...yes. I also have severe pain on left side. I have horrible abdominal pain that is so bad it spreads down into my legs. The pain now has spread to my right side as well. My diagnosis is failed ablation. From what I have puzzled together and I do mean puzzle since the drs are not very forthcoming, my uterus was burned so deeply that is collapsed. I also have damaged cervix. The organs will have to be looked at during surgery to look for damage. Scheduled for hysterectomy including ovaries and tubes in 2 weeks. I can no longer last through a full day of work. The pain is spreading and my body is exhausted. My 5 year old wants her mother back.
my daughter is 24 had a lot of problems and had this ablation done and is been about 2 years she is still haveing think discharge dr said it was a yest infection gave her a pill still of no help going back monday hoping something can be done we are going on vacation and don,t want her sick she has maney problems and does not need anymore if that does not work going to have a refural to a womans clinic when we get back try to get her a histy stop all this stuff
i am 2 days post op and although i have had no bleeding only very light spotting, the next day after the procedure i had very bad tummy cramps not like those of a period. i can't explain it really just feels like i need to wee all the time! i can hardly walk, it really hurts to walk. i have four kids and no time to be laid up! i had only planned monday off of work ,but if this pain doesn't go waway then i will have to off longer! i dont have a tempreture so i am really not sure what is going on, i also have awful backache! hope this helps! :)

I had a consultation with an Obgyn today about having my tubes tied and he brought this procedure up to me. I am going to be 35 in a couple of months and my husband and I have one child who's 10 and know we don't want another one. Of course I was all about having the Novasure done if it will maybe get rid of my periods.
My periods last a week and the first 5 days are very heavy. I really don't see the point of having a period anymore if I am not planning on having any more children.
The horror stories scare me a little bit, but I try to remember that people who are very satisfied with proceedures often are the silent majority. Most of the time, if you are unhappy, you are more likely to voice your dissatisfaction about a product, service, proceedure, etc.
I have a pre-op on Monday and I am scheduled for the surgery on 6/10. I am doing it on a Monday because I have Mondays and Tuesdays off at my job, so that gives me an extra day to recover before I have to try to work again. I am hoping by Wed I can work a full 8 hour shift, but I am going to try to get a dr's note limiting me to a 4 hour shift if needed so that I am covered if I need an extra day of rest.
Nervous, but excited at the same time about both proceedures. Not having to worry about pregnancy or being misreable for a week every month is why I am happy so far that I've scheduled this surgery.
