I just started using Proactive 3 days a go, the first day I used it my face quickly turned to a pinkish redness all over and on top of that it was itchy! I showed my sis and she told me that I was using too much...I told her I was allergic to the Benzoyl peroxide..she told me that she had the same reaction also but it went away when she learned to use the right amount..She made me wash my face and she taught me the process she did to not get the bad reaction..DO NOT use a lot of the Number 1 or Number 3, Number 2 is fine so you can spread around your face. After she taught me my face wasn't red anymore but it still itched only a little...now it's my 3rd day and my face is clearing up quick! (If your skin still gets irritated Using Egg white on your skin really soothes it..it's what I used when I couldn't sleep because of the itchiness on my first use :D)

I started using proative about a month ago and I used it for about a week. The next day at school i noticed my face was itching REALLY bad but I didn't really think anything of it till the next day I woke up and my face was COVERED in tiny try bumps and they were itching sooooo bad and my face had splotchy red spots all over. I stopped using Proactive after that and my face is starting to clear up but it's still itchy and dry. At least I dont have the splotches anymore. I hope it clears up soon because it's so embarassing to go to school with leathery dry skin :-( Damn You Proactive.

Hello,

My daughter has had the most God-awful reaction to this proactive c**p (Her Dad's girlfriend gave it to her).

She initially had the common redness but the next day woke up with a face like a 'puffer fish'. Now 2 days later she is still so swollen she can hardly see out of her eyes, its very itchy, the little bumps extend down her neck and chest and she feels hideous. Its her birthday tomorrow so she is understandably upset.

This is a vile and chemical and unatural product and at least now she understands the value of 'organic products. I will try benadryll as the Telfast allergy tablets (1 per day) and Dermaveen wash recommended by two seperate chemists have done nothing to really help. Ice on her eyes did help but swelling returned just as fiercly next morning.

Anyone with any sensitivety please avoid this product or at the very least test for 24 hours on soft skin of wrist.

Regards

A few weeks ago I decided to order Proactive. It arrived five days ago. On the first night I decided to try it out on my neck, to make sure I wasn't allergic. Nothing happened, so the next morning I used it on my face. Everything was fine until yesterday morning, I noticed I had hives all over my face. Their not red but they are so itchy!! I don't know whether to continue using Proactive or not. My acne isn't that bad, just a few on my chin. But still I feel like nothing is working. Any suggestions?

Looks like a lot of people had bad experience about this product Proactiv. They advertise about how celebrities got rid of their acnes and make you to try it out. So i tried it, i first applied it only to my forehead cuz thats where most of acne were.. That was about 5 months ago. and I got another packet of proactiv so i shared it with my sister. Last last night was my first time applying it to my entire face and so did my sister. Next morning, woke up, feeling suspicious about my eyes beccause they felt swollen up. I looked at myself in the mirror and was horrified. I looked like someone who got hundred times punched in the eyes and in the cheeks. I was so shocked. I never felt that before. I had school that day so i went to school hopeing noone would notice it but then my first period spanish teacher sent me to the nurse's office because i looked terrrrrible.. I went home and waited until mom comes.. i was ready to tell her that we should sue the Proactiv company. My face literally felt like i had fire all over it and today, i had dance performance so i had to put make ups on but it was the worst thing to put all the make ups on my face when it was swollen up, my eyes almost disapperaed, how could i put eye liner or mascara on those swollen eyes?? and right underneath my eyes were the itchiest, reddest, and driest. I HATE PROACTIV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  So i looked at the product where it says warnings (?) it only said external use only and do not use if you are sensitive to penoyzl peroxide. HOw the heck would i know if i was sensitive to that stuff. and the advertisement never talked about bad effects on faces!

Looks like many people had bad experience about this produce Proactiv. When i first used it 5 months ago, I only applied it to my forehead because that was where most of the pimples were. Then I used it again on Wednesday, this time, applying it to my entire face. The next morning, I woke up, feeling my eyes swollen up. I looked at myself in the mirror, I was horrified. My entire face was so RED, ROUGH, ITCHY, that I could barely move my facial muscles. My eyes were so badly swollen up that I couldn't even open my eyes right. The proactiv company advertises about how celebrities got rid of their acnes thought the solution of proactiv but the warning sign on this product only says external use only, and do not use if your skin is sensitive to some peroxide. How would I possibly know if my skin is sensitive to that poison after all the fancy advertisements that made me so want to try that product? I had school that morning, so I went to my first period and my Spanish teacher sent me to the nurse after she thought I should stay at home before getting more exposed to the environment where many people are. So I went home earlier and waited until my mom and sister came. I was so ready to tell them we should sue the company. They were so upset to see me disappointed with the product but said it will go away. Today is three days later from when I applied the product to my face and the redness and dryness till haven't gone yet! I hate this product and I had to hide my face under make ups because I had dance performance this morning. It is the worst thing to put all the make ups on your face when you are having some irritable skin and unknown cause of the bad effects. Can someone please tell the proactiv company that they should advertise about how it can hurt someone's face physically and mentally because they should be aware that their "America's best acne solution" can damage the skin that was better without the product.

I have been using Pro active for a few days now but this morning i put it on and my whole face started getting red. It looks like had had gotten a bad case of sunburn. I don't understand why this is happening i got given the sensitive pro active even though my skin isn't that sensitive. I don't know why i am having a bad reaction. It is not from benzyl peroxide because i have used it before and it has been fine. I think i am getting my reaction from the mineral toner. HELP????

I experienced the same symptoms. I used proactive 2 years ago and I stopped because it really irritate my face. Last Monday I tried it again, waking up the following morning with swollen, puffy, and itchy face almost shut my eyes. I have been suggested to take benadryl to stop the allergic reactions, seems to work but its been two days now, the swelling is decreasing but the itchiness is not going away. It's quite scary that quite a number of people experienced this kinds of allergic reactions.  I had such bad experience with proactive products, I told myself to never ever again use proactive products. extremely scary.

I know how all of you feel this has happened to me last week. I thought it was just something else but i found out it was my proactiv. I found out this week because i tried proactiv again since i have so much money in proactiv i didn't want to see it go to waste. I woke up this morning yeah, its horrible I woke up to a red, itchy, painful face. My eyes were almost swollen shut so I put on some sunglasses because i too do not want to be in public like this. Im sure it would draw ALOT of attention. I rushed to my doctor and she put me on oral steroids. That's how bad it was so i had to take 2 benadryl, 3 steroids and apply ice throughout the day. I am happy to say now that after doing that for 2 days I can now go camping with my girlfriend tomorrow. But as for the proactiv i think i'm just going to throw it out.

I got Proactiv about 2-3 months ago. I used it for about a month and it was amazing! My skin felt so smooth, and I only had the occasional pimple here and there. However, last night I used it after not using it for an entire month. This morning, I did the same, but it began to burn a little. Then I noticed my face was red and warmer than the rest of my body. It started getting worse and my face began to puff up and burn/itch, and I look hideous. When I smile, I can't even see from my right eye! Proactiv was a really good product, but I don't know why this happened because I never had any symptoms like this before. I'm really confused and I just want the burning sensation to go away. I can't even sleep now because I slept the whole day (I don't know if it made me drowsy...?) and that's why I'm writing at almost 3 in the morning. PLEASE HELP!!!

I used proactive this morning. 30 minutes later I noticed my cheeks looked puffy. Now it's full blown! Eyes and face swollen, red, and itchy. I used this same product in 2008 and nothing ever happened. I can't leave the house looking like this. I just took benadryl so I will update u all later.
