Hey everyone....I have the exact same problem. It started my freshman year of college coincidentally a couple months after my hernia surgery and it is still happening a year later...but I have hope (which will be explained later on). I noticed with some foods I could manage it for short periods of time like eating a bagel before class. However, dairy always made the noises happen. So I decided to see a GI doctor and he told me "oh it is just stress, etc." I refused to believe that.
I then had a colonoscopy and everything appeared normal. I knew everything was not and I decided that this GI doctor was not right for me.
I tried a different GI doctor and he is providing me some hope. He performed an endoscopy and going in before the procedure he told me to not be surprised if all results are negative; turns out they found the bacteria H pylori which some of you have mentioned and found inflammation in my stomach. The bacteria is in the stomach and is in roughly 20% of the population but only some people negatively react to it. My doctor prescribed me antiobiotics for a 14 day treatment along with Prilosec and Hyoscyamine (a stomach relaxer). I am on day 7 of the treatment and haven't really noticed any changes but I know it will take the 14 days to hopefully solve this problem. My doctor will call me in the next coming days to tell me my results about the biopsies he took and so I will keep you all posted.
The biggest recommendation I offer is to have an endoscopy done. I never had hope that this problem would be resolved and I tried certain diets, etc but nothing worked. Like you guys, my parents said it was all in my head and after the endoscopy they finally believed me and are helping me with it.
I am praying that in a week this problem is resolved and I will let you all know.
please keep us posted, I have a GI doctor that isn't helping me much. Have you had blood testS and stool tests done before? because I have and everything has come out negative. Best of luck to you

I seem to suffer with the exact same problem, and these tablets really help me, they are called Deflatine, and relieve you from trapped-wind and bloatedness. Trust me, these work. They stop the noises completely, unless you really have to go to the bathroom. There are side effects however, as they do cause constipation for me, yet there are other side effects listed on the rennie website. If constipation is the side effect it will feel as if you are about to pass gas, however its such a rare occurrence that you will pass gas in public. I consider these as a lifesaver. I still get anxious. However i am a naturally anxious person anyway but it is usually fine.

You just described my life. I'm 30 and this still happens to me so I leave work early. I cut wheat, gluten, milk and sugar out my diet and drink plenty of water and that seems to help a lot. Trust me - try it! Good luck
Hi :) For the past month I have been having the same issue. I thought at first my stomach was growling but while laying in bed next to my boyfriend it sounded like I ripped one really loud... I was thinking "what the heck. I didn't even fart!" I kind of brushed it off because that's when it just started. Since then it's been almost daily at home, at work, out in public. It doesn't sound exteamly loud all the time but nonetheless it is still annoying.
I can tell you this. Over the past year I encreased my coffee/caffiene intake. I was drinking 2 to 3 cups a day. I know that drinking that much can mess with the acids in your stomach and it affects with the digestional track as a whole. Such as increases acidity, heartburn, ulcers and IBS, laxative effects, etc. I haven't had coffee for 3 weeks and it's gotten better. You may not even drink coffee, but I would look into your diet. I personally think it was the coffee for me as well as food allergies (that I am not exactly sure of what I am allergic to at this time). So many of our food have harmful things in them that we are unaware of. Example: (and I don't eat them) Flaming hot Cheetos. "Super spicy chips and snack foods have come under attack as being unhealthy.. Emergency room doctors said they were seeing kids and some adults coming into the ER with gastritis, an inflamed stomach lining, or other stomach ailments after eating bags of spicy snack foods".
I read something about a Vitamin C deficiency and I also have been taking Vitamin C more now. You can also try an allergy testing called NAET. You'll have to google who does it in your area. Typically it is done in a Chiropratic office.
And I totally understand that this would be the cause of anxiety and depression. Not the otehr way around. I would like to think of myself as pretty upbeat and positive and it still happens to me. I think that for me I am now in the process of healing my body. I know that the body can heal itself naturally if given the right and proper nutients. I have been faily healthy my whole life. I very rarely get sick and if I do I get over it quickly. I am in good shape and work out and still have this issue. So I looked at what I was putting in my body and started cutting out what I shoudln't be. Try to eat fruits, veggies, whole grains, meats and all organic if at all possible.
I hope that this helps and I hope that you are able to find a healthy solution soon. Again please look into NAET allergy testing. :) My sister is doing it. I haven't done it yet, but will be soon.
