Strange throbbing/ pulsing in my thigh just above knee

Always worth bringing something like this up with your doc - just in case you're having other symptoms that may be related to an issue.   That said - your thigh contains a major artery (Femoral Artery). Most arteries will have a pulse reading somewhere along it's length. So unless there is something irregular about the pulse, or there is pain / discomfort - it's normal to feel your pulse from time to time. 

I have had twitching and pulsing in both knees on and off since middle school - I'm 24 now and still having annoying flare ups. I grew tall pretty fast when I was young and had pain in my knees as a child. My knees have always popped. I probably don't get enough potassium - I remember having cramps in my feet last week. I used to run to the doctor a lot. Low I've learned to listen to my body. Listen to your body. You are fine :)

I get that pulsing twitch in my eyes once in a while but lately its been in my left leg right above my knee! its intense pulsing and my boyfriend could see it move from the other side of the bed! its been doing it for 6 hours so far the longest time ever! I wish I knew wat it was its annoying!

The same thing has been happening to me for a few days now. first in my back (opposite rib cage on my right.) and for the second time today in my left inner leg just above my knee. it was happening a couple of minutes ago. first i felt it, then i put my hand on it. it stopped so i took my hand away, and it started again. then i put my hand on it very lightly and felt it move. IT MADE ME SHIVER! then i took my hand away and pointed the lamp on my bedside table at it and i saw it pumping in and out. i almost screamed. im only 13 and im seriously scared. i have bad circulation to the point where my hands and feet go blue. i have a perfectly healthy diet, and always have. i do plenty of exersize, roughly 5ft and skinny but weigh 9.5 stone. right now im having chest pains which are really hurting. please someone help im really scared!

I know exactly what it is, it's restless leg syndrome... That's only if it happens when you lay down and relax, or sit for a period of time, nothing to be concerned about, just stretch well before going to sleep

My husband had this and we determined it was because he was using tiger balm in the area.

I have been having the same problem on my right leg on my thigh just above the knee on my right inner thigh.

Well does everyone here keep their legs bent for a long time..? Let's at least start to see what do we all have in common.. The same thing happens to me, especially when I bend my legs or somehow stop blood flow by sitting in an uncomfortable position.. I just don't want you to be alarmed, I don't think it's a serious thing, but needs a doctor to check it still...

Same feeling, do any of you guys smoke?

It is happenning the same thing in my right leg. I always carry my cell there...any coincidence? Glad to hear that is nothing but does not sound normal at all!!!

It can't be a dvt, because no one said it's painful throbbing and no ones mentioned swelling,warmth, and redness.

What I know about this pounding just above or on the side is a menicus tear. Some say legiment tear however I've been diagnosed and will be getting a surgery in 2 months. It will be micrscopic however you can see a demonstration of this surgery on You Tube. Basically the doctor explained to me that its torn and parts from the tear gets trapped in the opening causing difficult with knee. However when I'm not sllep it beating especially when I'm on my cycle. I believe it has something to do with the flow of blood and if its not flowing properly then you here the beating.

Same sensation in my ledt leg. Feels like liquid getting passed through a small passage and squirting out. My wife said she could feel it when she held my leg, but I can't pinpoint an exact spot. Juat within my entire ledt leg and no pain. Feela weird like my cellphones vibrating on my bed or couch. No idea

My Left leg is most definatley doing that while throbbing thing, I'm highly stressed I think it could be that.

Mine started yesterday evening, continued all through the night and is still going on now.  I was at Scouts and have my phone in my pocket on my trousers and kept checking it thinking it was messages/calls/e-mails, but nothing there.  It doesn't hurt but is really annoying now
