My biggest concern is when I get towards the 21 days (right at Christmas time of course..lol) is the withdrawal from the sub which I saw your posts and followed them. You give me a good insight, but like you, sleep is so dang important to me. I am having troubles off/on sleeping while taking the sub. Not sure if any OTC sleep meds would work. Sub is SUPER power drug. Heck, I was told by this sub doc it's not addicting and wanted me on it 1 year with bi-weekly appointments at $80 a pop.. let alone the Rx for the sub which my insurance doesn't cover a dang dime. It's showtime for me and giving it all I got to make things right. I feel like I have a good shot, but a thousand questions.
Keep up the great work man, you are over the hump for sure, just some lingering affects which will go away day by day.
Like you, I should have detoxed from the 5 daily norco but I wanted an 'easy' way out with the sub... Now I know I am taking the hard road to being sober.
Sounds like a plan. I wish I checked subs out before I took them. Everything I've read the shorter time on it the better. If I could turn back time I would only take it for a week. How many more days till you jump?
Do you have support at home?
When you switch back to any opiate you dont get WD's AT ALL. BUT that depends what you're taking for opiates/how much and depending how much Sub you take and how often. You def only want to take the bare minimum of opiates at least the 1st 3 days b/c you'd most likely be wasting your $ depending what the goal is. If you wanted to get high off them for a few days, and are taking less than 2 MG of sub per day, you can still even get high the same day you took sub (depending what opiates/how much. Of course, you won't get full effects so you would have to take more than "normal". On day 4-7 w/out Sub, you won't have much blocking effect. If you're doing it stictly to quit sub, obviously you would just take as little as possible. Since sub WD is months in some cases, taking Opiates for 2 wks will have the sub out of your system but the WD's from sub MAY last longer than 2 wks. So, you would still technically be WD'ing from Subs. You would have to take opiates for a while like 2 months depending to not feel any sub WD and then take sub for 3-5 days tapering to just get through opiate WD. I wish I had known I could've only taken sub for 4 days. At that time, it just didn't occur to me and I didn't research much. Best of luck everyone! I've just been tapering the sub. I'm not too close to jumping off. I have been reading everyone's posts.
Oh and BTW - this was a reply from one of Sam's msg's, I hadn't checked the site in a bit and responded. I realized once I read the rest of the new posts, since my reply comes up at the end, it prob wont make sense lol... I think the q was on pg 8
Gibbons - How long have you been taking sub? "they" say, for ultra short detox with no long lasting WD's, not to take sub over 9 days but the shorter the better. Even just a 4 day taper seems best. Also, what the dr prescribes is usually WAY WAY more than you even need to start with. :)
I have been on sub for 9 days total now. Started at 8mg daily now today is 4mg. I don't feel the want for pain meds at all, I think that's past....but when the sub detox is over, that's the big ole question.
Curious, how long were you on subs for total? I forget if you already mentioned it.
Going through.. I can of course fake the 'flu' for a cple days but anything more wld be too much, so do u think it will work of I just take norcos to get off sub?? An if so, how many do u think I'll need to not feel like c**p.. FYI I got on sub because of a loritab addiction.. Unfortunately... Thank u for all your help!!!!
I was on subs for a little over 3 months. Erin is right the shorter time on it the better it'll screw with your head the more time your on it the more damage it'll do. I wouldn't jump off at a high amount though either. I don't know much about subs only what I've read and what I'm going through so I really can't give to much advice about tappering. I do know that I couldn't have gone through this without my guy helping me. He held on to my pain meds and will only give me what I need other wise I'd be back on them full time. Withdrawals are going to happen and your going to have to prepare yourself physically and mentally. A seven day total body cleanse will help stock up on water and super soft toilet paper cause your going to be in the bathroom a lot. I told mykids I had the flu and just try to do as much as you can physically. Your wife wants you to get better and as long as your trying your hardest to do it she should support you. Believe me having someone there to whine to makes a huge difference.
#26 took a quarter of a tramadol and slept 4 hours :(. Had a good day yesterday though just need my sleep back.
Hey Gibson - Sorry bout the wrong name last time lol. Ive never really been on this site or posted till recently so Im a newb. Anywho, You should quit tomorrow!!! You do NOT want to go over 10 days on subs. Look it up. If I was you (and I wish I was for this purpose) I would sooo def not stay on sub for even a month. You cant trust the Drs. You gotta watch out for yourself unfortunately since they have $ to gain. Obviously Im not a dr and ONLY you know whats best for you but I just had to tell you that. I would hate for anyone to get caught up in long term sub use or unknowingly make it harder on themselves like I did. So just a friendly advice. No matter what you choose, you're on the right track and I wish you the best in recovery!! If you stop tomorrow, you'll barely have any Sub WD's or at least waaaaaaay waaay less than you would at a month or especially longer than a mo. If you've only been on opiates, you're not experiencing WD from sub when reducing. You're experiencing WD from your other pills. Which only lasts 5 days physically. Once you're hooked on sub, you'll be in the scary months and months of WD off sub cycle. Who me with subs? Ive taken em on and off for a couple yrs unfortuantely.
Sam - I totally hear yah. The thing is, it just depends on your previous opitae tolerance and how long you've been off subs. Like I said, you would technically still be coming off sub after whatever time you swapped for pills. You would be fine prob with at least 30 mg of opiates but Ive never taken 8 mg of sub. Ive only always taken 1-2 mg tops per day b/c I didnt need more, I had an oxy habit and would take up to 120 mg's prior to the sub use and still only needed .5 mg when started sub. Your Welcome!
Seriously, are you saying if I jump down dramatically to 1-2mg over the next 2-3 days and stop I wouldn't have any w/d?
I haven't thought about it. I have been in the bathroom quite a bit last 2 days, not sure what that is all about.
Let me know when you get a chance
Gibson: I don't think Erin was saying you won't have any withdrawals I think she was saying subs are bad and taking them for a longer period of time will do more damage then good. At this point your already having withdrawals from them. The op withdrawals last a week and you've been off them for at lest that long right, so now it's getting off the subs. I think cutting down to bare minimum is a good idea. There are other post where a long taper did work just not for us. Read other people's experiences and make your own choice.
Sam: be careful withdrawals suck but it's just our body trying to heal its self. I have kids I know we want to be at our best for them and getting off this stuff is the best thing we can do for them. Bare minimum less and less every week. I do think the reason I'm having Rls still is because of the ops I've been taking.
Good luck to all of you.
Done: when you quit, did you have anxiety pretty bad? What did you do to combat it
I am just going to start taking .5mg now and let it flow from there. I won't go over 2mg for the next 2-3 days and adjust after that.
FYI - What prompted me start last Monday, my sister's good friend passed away on Thanksgiving, he OD'd on opiates and Xanex, passed away in his sleep. It was like a re-look for me at my life and knowing the road I was traveling was not good. Sunday night before I started, I had about 40 norco left and flushed them. I just have to keep looking forward and take day by day. I don't want to be hooked on this sub c**p... I read somewhere that doctors are the new 'dealers in town' you have that MD after your name, it's a license to deal. Not saying all doc's are like that, but some are
