I have the same like you I had tummy tuck 1,5 years ago n my stomach still swollen, especially after u ate heavy meal, and during PMS. I really regret my tummy tuck, I should have embraced my excessive strechmarks n my sagging belly , now i traded my sagging skin with hideous fleur de lis scar n swollen belly...I should have accepted that I cant wear bikini w/ nice belly anymore....now I have no money to do revision, n just as u know even after tummy tuck , my belly still all covered w/ streacmarks all the way pass my belly button, because i have excessive strechmarks, n even after tummy tuck i still cant show off my belly..... i know it feel so frustrating after spending lots of money on this surgery, you feel like a dumb, cheated.... well anyway i think we all must embrace our flaw, i know it sucks coz im only 30, but im glad reading most of the threads here, i feel ike im not alone.........

Hello, I had a tummy tuck 1.5 ago and suffered from the same upper ab bloating, I looked pregnant by end of day, terribly unsightly.  I did some research on the matter and  seems that if your surgeon does not liposuction the upper ab eventually your midriff looks bulky, especially if you gain any weight. It's the first place the fat goes. I wasn't told that.

10 weeks ago I had liposuction on my upper ab & waist.  What a difference it made, no ridiculous bloating.  It helped tremendously.

I hope this information helps someone.

Wow!! I have looked online before and could not find anything but here you all are!! I had Lipo in Hawaii about 2 years ago and I have looked  disfigured since that day. Above my belly button is hard and I have acid reflux and bloating because of it. I just drank a slim fast and feel heart burn and bloating. After my surgery my left side was popping out and looked funny. The Doc said first that it was because one of my legs was longer than the other..then he said it was just the way my body was under the fat he removed and there was nothing he could do to fix it. I told him I didnt look like that when I was thin but he insisted. After looking online I'm thinking maybe part of the problem is that he damaged the Vagas Nerve and I now have Gastroparesis?? I have been to embarrassed to go in and have someone look at it. My mom had Lipo and a tummy tuck in Tucson AZ about 15 years ago and she didn't have any of these problems.. I was thinking about talking to her doc and maybe she could tell me what he did wrong because I'm pretty sure he screwed up! I wonder if a doc could go in and remove the hard fat .. for lack of better words.. around the belly button?  I regret doing this to my body and wish I could go back and change things. If anyone gets any answers please let me know :)

I am thinking of getting a tummy tuck, but I am scared of having problems later on in time, but I have wanted one for so long... I am a size 5 but my children were very big when they were born.. So I have a lot of extra skin and since I'm skinny I hate to see my stomachevery day... What do you guys suggest...

Most tummy tucks are very successful. Obviously the people on this board feel differently because of all the problems we have had and will probably live with for our life time. If you decide to get one make sure you do your homework. Find a great doctor and understand your family history. And of course understand that things can go wrong. My surgery was great until about 6 months post op. Also understand that you could do everything right and things could still go wrong. If you want one, do it with caution. It is not a decision to be made lightly; you could have great results or you could have complications for years (I'm at 4 years this months and miserable). Good luck!!

I agree with superstar everyone has different problem, each body heals differently..... make sure you research for good doctors...not only one or two...than u can choose which one u feel comfortable with, who really understand your problem, body contour..... I regret my tummy tuck but I m mot against tummy tuck..... I think ur condition looks a little bit the same like me pre surgery, Im a skinny thin girl (45 kilos )with lots of sagging skin n excessive strechmarks all the way above my belly button through my ribcage (I gain 61kilos on my pregnancy) pre surgery, n i only have one kid so far...now after surgery Im still 45 - 46 kilos, I looks nice when i put my clothes on (pre surgery also ;-)) , only I hate the swollen numbness on my belly area (almost 2 yrs post op now) , not to mention the scar... i kinda miss my sagging skin i guess I kinda got used to having sagging skin....now my belly hard as a rock...well if you want to do tummy tuck I wish u the best with good result ;-)

Hello All,

I now understand why the Doc ask if your weight is stable when deciding to have a Tummy Tuck.  Because, If you gain weight without having the upper ab lipo'd,  you will eventually look like a round gassy pumpkin (yuk!).  Also, not all doctors are equal when it comes to lipo. I now know the difference. Check out their before and afters pics before making a decision, this  is a must.

If they don't have many pics, push on!  There's a reason.

you are absolutely right....it was my mistake also, as I was in a rush to get my belly fixed...I should have left his office when he told me 1st time, "you're so small, most of my tummy tuck patients are big women", n I never saw his before n after pic... stupid me.... I was really in a rush to get my belly fix...and I get hideous scar, fake lookin, hard as a rock belly instead....well I can't turn back the time....btw I gained 61lbs (28kg) during pregnancy...Im 45 kilos pre op, n still the same now...only hate the lookin of my belly when I take off my clothes

WOW, I gave up on new posts.

Hey guys, looks like a lot of us are out there, looking for solutions. I am trying harder than ever to cut back on my food, and lose some weight, but it seems to be harder than ever before I had this done.  For example, before lipo, if I ate just fruit in the morning for a few days, I'd lose a good amount of weight in a short time.  NOW, I tried to do so and GAINED WEIGHT!  Sometimes I feel it is hopeless, but I refuse to give up.

I really regret letting the first doctor just do my lower abdomen back in 2002, because that is obviously what did this horrible mess to me.  It is just awful having an upper belly that's bigger than the lower belly. I was recently on vacation, and after having a big meal, I literally had trouble walking around because I felt so bloated and rock hard it makes me out of breath trying to walk off a meal.

I am too scared and simply cannot afford to be out of commission now for lengths of time, nor do I trust anyone now to try and lipo my upper abdomen. The second lipo procedure I had was useless, I walked out exactly the same as before, and he was supposed to do my upper abdomen. He did nothing I could tell. THEN told me it was visceral fat INSIDE my abdomen making it bloat. Gee thanks, I could have saved the $8,000 if he were honest in the first place.

But, beside the visceral fat I am sure lipo helped me collect, I DO have a lot of upper belly fat, and some lower again. I am actually GLAD to have the lower belly fat, or I'd look totally ridiculous with bulging upper body and nothing below! Of course, I wish I could take the fat from my upper ab, and reshape the lower ab at least into a normal looking potbelly, rather than the one I have, sagging and flattened at the bottom, and bigger at the top.

Why didn't I just leave my belly ALONE???

I had a tummy tuck and I started to notice that if I overeat then I see my stomach swell almost immediately. I guess that once the muscles is that area are tightened are not as elastic as they used to be and now it just looks weird if you overeat. when I don't overeat I don't have the problem. I hope this helps.
