Anyone, get this same thing happen to them after consuming evn small amounts of vinegar..? So I am an avid eater of vinergar and cucumbers or vinegar and lettuce, shortly afterward I get a stuffy nose and congested head. I associated this together a few months ago but was in denial of me having an allergy to vinegar, I noticed it happened every time after eating italian dressing. I soon narrowed it down to the vinegar. Wow what a deal. I have gone 30+ years without knowing I have this small allergy to vinegar, anyone else have the same thing, and what are your symptoms..?

I've discovered a possible issue with vinegar, which breaks my heart. Hives on the back of my neck at night if I put balsamic vinegar on my dinner salad. I am already on such a restricted diet & can't use commercial shampoo and conditioner so I've been using a vinegar rinse. That makes my neck burn. Anti itch creams contain an ingredient I'm allergic to so I was applying diluted vinegar to bring relief. I'm so disappointed and uncomfortable.
I can relate to your attack of not able to get air or speak...I'm 87 yrs old and have never had any allergies to anything to my knowledge. This morning, I was using apple cider vinegar to make a seasoned vinegar for pickled eggs. I only tasted a very small amount of the mixture to make adjustments to the flavor. As quickly as the vinegar reached my throat, I could not get any air and could not speak. I tried drinking a swallow of ice water while gasping for air. It seemed like a long time, but after a min, or so, maybe the water sent the vinegar on down my throat. I was able to get air into my lungs...my voice did not return right away, but gradually I was back to normal. .What an experience!
Have to believe I am allergic to vinegar. I have a chronic cough and sinus problems and sometimes cramps in my feet and legs at nite. Never connecting the vinegar to my ailments. I eat lots of mayonnaise . In the future, I'll eliminate any food that I know has vinegar in it. One thing for sure, I'll never put straight vinegar in my mouth again.
Hi what you have explained is what I go through also! I havent seen a doctor though. Ive also had this particular patch in the back of my head that gets dry and builds up kind of like psoriasis. It bleeds and ive had it for years. It drives me insane.
My symptoms are only in my mouth. I get red rashes on the inside on my mouth lining and my tongue feels like sandpaper. My entire mouth feels weird. I get a little throat irritation. My taste buds are messed up for a few days. All of this is very frustrating. I believe I found it to be just from Vinaigrette dressings, or anything with that vinegar acid dressing. I thought it may be a certain toothpaste I was using ( which also could be a cause) But I definitely know it's the vinaigrette salad dressing that make my mouth have this reaction. My mouth rash, tingling feeling and messed up taste buds will last a couple of days. It is almost like when you burn your tongue and you can't taste anything.
Hi
I have this too it almost feels like my eyes are sweating too. The smell can even set me off in hot flushes. Glad I'm not the only one
I have a ton of allergies!! In the air, animals, foods, etc. it is so annoying! I was on here looking at all the responses to people thinking they are allergic to vinegar (because I am researching the possibility that I am now too, yah! I can add it to the very long list! Lol!). But I saw your post and it intrigued me because of two things: 1. I had a patch like that on my head and I did not go to the doc for the longest time!! Suffered for no reason, she gave me a shampoo that took it away in literally 2-3 washed, and I have never had it back. OR 2, it could actually be like eczema which is caused by food allergies and you should REALLY get to a doc before your food allergy kills you. People are talking so nonchalantly on here, but I have had my throat close and had to ride in an ambulance while they pumped epinephrine into me while I TRIED to gasp for air, trust me honey, no one wants to loose you ❤️. I don't even know if you will see this, but.......
Poor some on the other foot n see if it happens again. Might sound stupid but at least u could be sure it WAS the viniger and not something more serious the hospital missed. And if it does happen take some benydryl it should make it go away
This is happening to mr quite often in the last three years!! I'm 70 and Dr believes I have started to have an allergy reaction!! I must stay calm and my throat will eventually open up as I relax. So scarey when it happens as you can't get any air in!!!
I believe I must have an allergy to vinegar. When I eat salad dressings or ketchup I lose my breathe and find it hard to breathe..I am Asthmatic ?.anybody else?
Its not odd...cooking peaches gives me a very very bad reactions!
Yep, i to have become allergic to vinegar after 50 years of no problems. Seems to be distilled vinegars more so than any of the others. Every part of my body has gotten cramps because of it. Sometimes 3 or 4 appendages at the same time. So while im being a contortionist, i am in extreme pain!!! Usually, taking a leak and gusselling a ton of water will help it after 20-30 minutes. You have to read lables and watch everything you eat, people put it in everything.
I have a vinegar allergy. I first noticed it when I had tried some bbq sauce at a friends house. I started hallucinating seeing brown bugs crawling in front of me and they were bigger than in real life. The next time I went back to her house she made bbq'd chicken and the same identicle thing happened. The same color and all. It soon progressed to anytime I had anything with vinegar, my lips and tongue would go numb and swell. The last time I tried to eat a tiny part of tarter sauce on my fish sandwich, I was driving to work two hours later and I was driving on the wrong side of the road unconscious. At that point i knew i could not play around with it anymore for I could kill someone. Prior to that last time, I had miracle whip and told the doc at the hospital I needed help and the lady doctor sent me to a mental institution for three and a half weeks. When I moved back to the area I live in now,I called the local hospital and said to them that if I were ever taken to their hospital after I had ingested any vinegar and they put me into their phyce ward,I would sue the daylights out of them! They immediately put it on the front of my chart! I have recently noticed that so much more of the meats we eat also contain vinegar. My migraines stopped after I stopped using vinegar of any sort.
Best of luck to you!
I use white vinegar to clean my carpet and recent sprayed it on my mattress, now I'm itching all over. Don't know if it is from the vinegar or what.
Yes, I have that same reaction. When I eat anything with a strong vinegar content, my throat closes like it goes into a spasm. I can't breathe at all. This lasts about 10 to fifteen seconds until my throat gradually open back up. Very scary!! I can still eat light vinegar based salad dressings in salads but I am still very cautious.
