Anyone, get this same thing happen to them after consuming evn small amounts of vinegar..? So I am an avid eater of vinergar and cucumbers or vinegar and lettuce, shortly afterward I get a stuffy nose and congested head. I associated this together a few months ago but was in denial of me having an allergy to vinegar, I noticed it happened every time after eating italian dressing. I soon narrowed it down to the vinegar. Wow what a deal. I have gone 30+ years without knowing I have this small allergy to vinegar, anyone else have the same thing, and what are your symptoms..?

My allergic reactions have developed suddenly, but conclusively linked to vinegar. It induces heavy congested sinuses that refuse to clear up for days, sneezing, throat ache and some vision issues. I do not experience other reported symptoms like red chest, swollen tongues or lymph nodes.

16 days ago I started a diet: drink one cup of warm water with 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar. After 5 days I started getting hives, but I thought they were bug bites. I have now got hives on my neck and chest and have stopped drinking the vinegar water.
I never have had a reaction to vinegar, but that is the only thing that is different.
You are the first person I have seen on this link to have a coughing fit from vinegar. I just started having this problem within the last few months. I cough to the point where I feel as if I am going to vomit. Breathing is difficult and it feels as if there is fluid in my lungs. I even had a chest X-ray because I was worried it was something worse.
I have super weird symptons to vinegar, my nose gets stuffy, my tongue turns white and my lips turn purple
My daughters mouth peels after eating salt & vinegar crisps or salt & vinegar on her chips!
These veer her favourite crisps too! Some one has told her today to drink water
which doesn't have any acids in it like orange or apple juice.
Nearly all the vinegar in the US is made from apples. If you're having a true allergic reaction to vinegar, pay attention to what happens when you eat apples.
I get sweaty under my eyes (my upper cheek bone) when making sandwiches, I don't know why though
As far back as I can remember, I sweat really badly every time I. Eat any kind of tomato sauce.
I am now researching histamine intolerance and find I shouldn't eat anything with tomatoes or viniger...so am wondering if there is a connection between the sweating and histamines.
I have same problem. Vinegar makes my throat close up and I can't breath. Scary. My aunt has same problem.
I have a vinegar allergy. It came about after walking in the park right after the plants had been sprayed with insecticides. I returned home and had a salad with red wine vinegar. I then had trouble breathing, broke out in hives, started sweating, had rapid heart beat. That was 10 years . I get this same reaction when i ingest red wine vinegar all the time now and didn't have it before the insectiside issue. Odd,huh, but real.
I've got the exact same problem. I've got long hair so I can put my hands and fingers through my hair and feel the sweat coming from my scalp. Also, under my eyes beside my nose. Pretty much everywhere on my head just feels icky. Depending on if I'm eating straight vineger (i.e a sandwich with straight vinegar ) I get a body sweat.
I discovered my allergy to vinegar approx 23 yrs ago. I had gone to allergist after constant sinus infections. Allergist gave me a list of foods to quit, then get back on to test. Mustard, hit dogs immediately caused sinus drainage, so I decided allergy to vinegar, cured meats & also milk. Tried shots for awhile, couldn't afford. Now I stay away from pickles unless I eat a couple slices sometime. I take an Allegra once a day, & can eat a little chocolate or cheese a day. I can ear mustard or msyo or salad dressing at supper, so the Allegra helps! Just eat in small amounts each day. Oh, I never had any allergy til 28 yrs old. Then they just hit all at once!
I also suffer this allergy, and until I googled it, I thought I was nuts! Mine is not as severe as yours, but if I have vinegar, my tongue becomes incredibly painful, and swells. It can last for two to three days. I also have this reaction with raw pineapple, strawberries, and acidic apples. I have had it all my life.
Look at the safety data sheet for acetic acid(vinegar). This substance is not safe to be used in or on the human body.l
Over the last few years balsamic vinegar alone has made me feel sick. After ingesting I would feel like I hadn't eaten anything I would feel so hungry it hurt. After an hour or two it would go away. However over this past year any time I have something with balsamic I puke the entire contents of my stomach and continue dry heaving for the rest of the day. Yesterday I had a small appetizer for dinner with a balsamic reduction not even thinking. This morning was the work yet. Gross. I think I have had enough experiences to narrow down the culprit to balsamic. Other vinegar's seem fine just balsamic.
