I had a hysterectomy last February due to cancer. I am happy to say that I have been cancer free ever since. The surgeon performed the surgery robotically, I only had a few small incisions on my stomach so my recovery time was a few weeks. I was up and about 3 days after the surgery and feeling back to normal within 3 weeks.  The only complaint that I had was that I was extremely tired and this lasted quite a while. (The surgeon told me that this was to be expected and could last up to a year)  I have lost 50 lbs since the surgery and I have not changed my diet whatsoever.  I am a diabetic and have other health issues, the weight loss has helped me with my other health concerns.  I feel great and am blessed to have caught the cancer in its early stage (it was contained in my uterus) The weight loss was an unexpected blessing.  I think each person is different so you can't really say how much a person will lose or gain after surgery.  Also after the surgery you can not soak in a bath or swim until cleared by the doctor. I did have some mild cramping but that disappeared in a few days. Again each person is different and the how the surgery is performed makes a difference

From my symptoms and the thicken of my uterus they think I may have adenomyosis the only 100% diagnosis and cureis through taking my cervix and uterus, iI have been scared and so worried about putting on weight and losing my sex drive even more as iI already have a low sex drove sure to the passion I get during and after... Don't know when my surgery will be within 90days.. Ty ladies for giving it a positive

I am 36 and had a hysterectomy 4 weeks ago. I had my right ovary removed 5 months ago because it had hemorrhaged. This is also the day that I found out that I had stage four endometriosis. And from that day on I was in excruciating pain. I couldn't have the vaginal or laparascopic procedure because of all of the connecting tissue. So I have a 6 inch or so insision from my belly button to my pelvic bone. I didn't want to have a hysterectomy because of my age. I put it off as long as I could. I was taking so much ibuprofen and percocet that I was probably damaging other organs. I had my surgery scheduled but ended up in the ER two weeks earlier. I ended up having it done then. My doctor was unable to take my cervix because the endo has it completely glued to my colon. Which would have caused a whole other world of issues. I am doing very well and it's nice to not be doubled over in pain constantly. I have been more active than I probably should be, but I'm not a person that sits around a lot. I have been overweight most of my life and was told that this could be the reason why. My body was very stressed by the endo and extra estrogen growing in my body. I haven't weighed myself but jeans that for before surgery are falling off now. I'm hoping with my age and getting my inside body back to normal that my outside body will also get back to normal. Finding this forum was one of the best things I've read. Thank you all!

Thank you for the positive feedback/info. I am due for a total hysterectomy in a few hours and I decided to search the web how it will look after surgery. I found this youtube info that was totally negative and devastating that I felt depressed and wanting to cancel. I am thankful that there are positives as well which gives me more strength. Thanks to all!

Hello,

Im a virgin and I am 20. I was woried about my hymen after masterbation (2 times only) and I decided to go to my general dr. to see if my hymen was intact. She said that my hymen was intact, but what does that mean? Will I bleed the frist time I have intercourse? Did my hymen stretch to accommdate whatever it was that I entered? If it did not break, does that mean I have a highly oestrogenated hymen?

I had laparoscopic hysterectomy 4 weeks ago and I feel much improvement from what I was feeling pre op. I believe everyone is different and perception has a lot to do with pain and healing. I was just so happy that my cervix was at cin3 and not cancer yet that I am pretty sure I would've tolerated daily 7 inch stakes driven through my eyes. The bottom line is that I was back at my office job after 3 weeks, my energy levels are returning slowly. The pain was not worse than c section pain and I definitely am having no issue with libido, I am counting down the minutes to when i can resume intercourse with my husband. Don't let the hype fool you, you will survive and move on!
