Hi my name is tamee i had thr with titanium last feb 2017 i had a remarkably fast recovery and had no pain this whole year..all of a sudden about a week ago i got up from a sitting position and had a pain worse than right after my operation. It felt like the middle of my femur was going to buckle and break feels fractured but at the er they said no xrays looked good they also took a dvt deep vein thrombosis test to make sure it wasnt a blood clot. None present the dr said she though i had a deepvtissue infection and put me on clindimyacin but the pain is still there and makes me walk minimally because it really feels like its going to break. Anybody have similar pains? Please any suggestions will help they keep saying they dont see anything wrong but the pain says different lol. Help please.

Would you mind if I asked if you take any medication for acid reflux or indigestion?

I was diognosed with AVN in both hips, both shoulders and both knees. I’ve so far had 4 joint replacements. Mine was brought on by some meds not letting my steroid inhaler break down. I ended up severely ill and Drs were mythd. We finally worked out what was going on after being at deaths door and have seizures in my legs! I hope this helps- have you ever been on steroids or steroidal inhaler?

Hi Mike,

I had THR a year ago. I made the decision for the same reason you had. I am experiencing the same exact thing. I even exercise similarly to you. Walking, stairs, getting in and out of my car, or uneven ground are particularly painful. It does not matter what I do or do not do; those activities are painful. I even have a difference in leg length since the surgery and my outer knee now hurts all the time. I believe the pain has something to do with the end of the post and how it sits in the canal of the femur. I have tried many times to discuss this with my doctor. He keeps telling me that all is fine and how all of his patients are happy with their surgeries. I have done some reading and have found some literature that suggests that my theory is quite real. I refuse to go back for my 12 month follow up. Instead I am seeking a 2nd opinion. I hope you find some answers and real relief from the pain.
Thanks, Sonia

I am having the same pain as you too after 4 months post op.If anything touches the side of my thigh it gets painful also I can't walk up a flight of stairs properly without pain.I am so sick of taking pain meds.I am also using one stick walking outside and I get tired and exshasted easily.I was a get up and go person and nothing was a bother to me and this op has changed my life dramatically. Everyone was saying you will be a new person after your op oh yes I definitely am for the worse not the better.I regret having this done as I have also lost a lot of weight due to also being very sick after my op with a lung infectio which went into Pluresy which made me very sick and was in hospital. The only time I had been in hospital was having my kids and was a fine healthy person since all this hip op..I am just hoping this pain goes soon

I can relate to all of these posts, I was doing pretty well for about 3 months after my hip replacement surgery, however I could never lift my right foot to put on my sock or tie my shoe after surgery. My right leg now collapses on me constantly. It will not hold my weight and I am sometimes in severe pain.
Is anyone experiencing their leg collapsing?

I had acciden tMarch 17, 2019. I was pushed and fell on my right side from around 4 feet high, breaking my hip and humerus. Dr did a hemi hip replacement and for the humerus, he put a rod and 8 screws in my upper arm. Now after 4 months, with in-patient and then out paitent rehab I was doing well, the pain is returning in my hip. Blood work shows no infection and xrays show a small amount of bone starting to grow over titanium replacement. Dr. says if this continues to grow that a year after surgery, he will have to go back in and scrape the new growth away. The humerus is doing fine. The term for the bone growth is "herteotopic ossification." has anyone had this happen and if so, what was the outcome. Dr. said I'd have to wait a year after my surgery for him to do this? Thanks for any help. Margie

I had double hip replacements (12 weeks apart) about 3 years ago. Did great for about 6 months After 2nd good was replaced and since then i have terrible pain in right thigh and extends up right mid back and down my leg and my ankle swells. My surgeon did xrays and said everything looked perfect. I can’t go for long walks and I swim and I have to stop soon after starting bc of the pain. Does anyone know if all this could be reaction to the hip device? I’ve heard some say this and what I read online I have developed stage 1 heart failure and pulm congestion in past year and all my heart valves in echo are regurgitating - I read metal particles affect the heart valves. I’m scared and don’t know who what doctor to see to help my pain. I could not find answers of what metal was used in my hips even when I got a copy of surgical notes and out the model number into search - I wonder if I’m having a bad reaction to the hips. Anyone have any suggestions

Understanding for 37 years now as a certified PT, experience is my best tool and I feel that the elliptical may have been the root cause of it. Did you have calf pains , and or upper buttock pain when ellip started. ?
