Audible noise when moving my eyes

This doesn't happen always, but between 5-10 times a week I will hear (or appear to hear) a noise which vaguely sounds like someone quickly ripping a piece of paper or cloth when I move my eyes from one point to another (left to right, up to down, etc). I guess I'm just trying to figure out is this really happening, or am I suffering from some type of auditory hallucination? There doesn't seem to be any single set of circumstances it occurs in. Has anyone heard of anything like this?

For about 4 days I had been feeling like the room was spinning but only at night, was when I felt it. Then this morning I woke up and my eyes where super watery then they made the noise! I'm only 12 so I got super scared and looked it up, yalls comment were very helpful! Thanks I was glad to know I wasn't the only ones havinghaving this problem!☺
Same thing happens to me. After taking a nap. goes away after 5 min or so.
My issue, to describe it better. Would seem like distortion of sounds in the room( Like a fan going, ect ). When I wake from a nap( the only time I ever seem to get this). If I move my eyes from side to side the noise is distorted or changed. This can sound like a light saber I suppose. A whisp. Up and down does nothing. I do get chronic sinus headaches under my eyes. I do feel pressure in my sinuses most of the time. The question is: Is this neurological or just pressure related in some way? Many people have this same issue. Luckily mine is temporary.
I'm so glad I found your reply. I'm currently experiencing every symptom you stated. I'm male but have horrible sweat flashes and just tonight noticed the sound from eye movements. I'm currently being passed around from doctors.
I have this noise in my ear,(aside from Tinnitus), as I move my eye left to right. I hear two noises, clapping and it gives me a bit of dizziness. The other noise is like rice shaking. Is this really a disease or a mystery to this date. What did your doctors say it is? I need a few accurate info so I can also lead my doctor to the right symptoms. Thank you
same with me
yup,,, exactly. Is that a form of imbalance or slight dizziness??
I am on Cymbalta and many more meds due to FMS/CFS, I am not weaning out and yet I have these noises. I've had it for decades.
I have been diagnosed with Fibro myalgia and I take cymbalta. I recently stopped taking it because I wanted to see how I would do without it. Everytime I stop I have the noise behind my eyes. I describe y noise as robot eyes. I read on another sight it could also be from anxiety which I have from the fibro. But I also have the fluid and crusty eye sometimes in mornings which someone said was from sinus backup behind your eyes. Just throwing that out there, I do believe mine is from my Fibromyalgia since it only does it if I'm not taking my meds.
Hi, I have the same noise in my eyes and don't know what it is from. U mentioned u take pain medication. I also take them and I never had this problem before I did. I think it has absolutely everything to do with the medication. Was ur heart attack from to much of ur medication. I hope u r ok and everything is working out for u. Please let me know if you have figured anything out. Take care.
Oh my gosh....I've just begun having this and that's EXACTLY the way I would describe the sound! Rainbird sprinkler! LOL
I have the same thing. Have you figured out what is causing your problem?
OMG! This is me exactly!! I can't believe it, this is the first place I have found anyone else with this same description of symptoms. Mine are controlled now with Cymbalta and before that it was Zoloft. Mine started about 19 years ago. It was as soon as I woke up from having all four wisdom teeth extracted. For eight months with multiple other issues then started having rapid heart rate, flutters, palpitations and cardio issues. Saw at least 25 different doctors during this time period and had no real cause or explanation. I was not on any meds at the time of surgery but had just recovered from a sinus infection and getting teeth out trying to fix migranes I had for years. everyone looked at me like I was crazy and wanted to chalk it up to panic attacks maybe a virus. I did end up testing for Epstein bar virus but I was in the last phase of it. I thought maybe somekind of spinal injury or nerve injury. Saw everyone from er doctors, neurologist, ent, and finally came across a internal medicine doctor that put me on a heart monitor and then within a week had me taking atenolol and Zoloft. Said I might not notice anything for a couple weeks but within the hour my heart rate was almost controlled and with in a day my equilibrium was good and no eye, noise falling sensation. It was great, still had to live with many other issue (fatigue, weakness, muscle and nerve pain) but I was feeling great in comparison to the previous two years. Felt good for about 2 years and then Did come down with sinus infection and it all came back. Doc upped the Zoloft a bit and was good again. Doctor retired not to long after and so for the past 17 years I've been on atenolol and Zoloft or now Cymbalta. Ever find anything out with your case
Unbelievable; this swishing sound is exactly what I am experiencing. I hope it goes away, and I will not go on another antidepressant until it does go away. I weened off of Venlafaxine ER (Effexor XR) 150 mg. I took my last 37.5 mg pill a week ago after a tapering down from my highest dose at 150 mg. After having an unwanted pressure in my ears side-effect over a few weeks, I decided that the med was not worth the side effect of ear pressure. To reiterate, I only took 150 mg for for 3 weeks, and my total time on Venlafaxine ER was 10 weeks, with the last 3 weeks being 150 mg. I am clean from other meds (I do not take other prescription meds), so there are no other substances that could cause the symptom. Anyway, after weening off the med completely, I have the swishing sound when moving my eyes. It is a "swish-swish" sound; up to 4 quick swish sounds when moving my eyes. Is this a withdrawal symptom and does it go away? I hope I did not cause a life-long sound in my head just by trying and then weening off this medication!
