Audible noise when moving my eyes

This doesn't happen always, but between 5-10 times a week I will hear (or appear to hear) a noise which vaguely sounds like someone quickly ripping a piece of paper or cloth when I move my eyes from one point to another (left to right, up to down, etc). I guess I'm just trying to figure out is this really happening, or am I suffering from some type of auditory hallucination?
There doesn't seem to be any single set of circumstances it occurs in.
Has anyone heard of anything like this?

I have mild ringing in my ears often. Occasionally, I get a zzt zzt sound when I move my eyes. It is like a quick zap zap sound. Very bizarre. I have had sinus pressure most of my life as well. I am hoping this is somehow related and is nothing more serious.
People do not understand when I tell them about my zapping eye movements.

I’m having the same issue, where I look left or right I can hear my eyes move, like static in an old radio sound, it’s the strangest sensation ever! . Also when I turn my head either direction I get VERY light headed for a second for two. I went to the Dr. about a week ago and had an ear infection. At the time a pain in my ear was the issue, now that’s gone, but now this crazy eye sounds & light headed when I move my head. I suspect this ear infection has turned into something else. It’s miserable
I have very similar symptoms to what you describe and it’s been tentatively diagnosed as part of menieurs disease symptoms due to quinine damage from malaria treatment
Yep. When I move my eyes it's kind of like a ringing or a high-pitched buzz. Like a lightsaber or a fridge. I had a migraine this week and this seems to be accompanying it.
I was very happy to come across your post. I have just recently weaned off of Citilopram (Celexa). I started experiencing these noises (which I described as light sabers) as soon as I was completely off of the meds. Thank you for the encouragement as I really want to stay off these meds. I will be patient. Again, thank you.
I get a whooshing sound when I move me eyeballs. I think it has something to do with sinus pressure but haven’t found anything to make it go away. Also get dizzy. So annoying.
Yes! I get migraines and I’m weaning off of Lexapro as well. I have the whooshing eyes, quiziness, light-headed and a bit dizzy at times. Taking my triptan medication helps a lot. I take Relpax - it saved my life.
I hope this helps someone, I was having the same issue with the swosh sound with some dizzinenes when moving my eyes to the right.
I was diagnosed with hipertension and since I started blood presure medication the swoosh time disapeared.
It often appeared during extenden periods of anxiety or depression, that also causes your blood preasure to rise.
I am coming off of effexor and am experiencing the same issue! it sounds like the karate chop noise from movies!!
Oh that sound is accurate. I have it too. And it comes with a thump thump of pressure
Hi. I decided to cold turkey Amitriptiline ( veen 1 month w/ 30mg a day) because i went to a psyfestival and used quite much other drugs. Mixing SSRIs and party stuff wiuldnt be smart. 1 week later, party was great but then withdrawal feelings came all at same time. So i don't know what can be causing what i'm experiencing with my eyes, also followed by , and or when i turn my head. This morning had massive nightmares that keep going like a stupid zombie videogame when i try to go back to sleep. All of this makes me angry. Being under the shower some seconds helped and now im going for a walk to solve stuff. Keeping my brain busy helps a lot. I see many describing the withdrawal but not helping to find solutions to relief that. Eating healthy like cereal n yogurts, many fruits cut are easy to chew and tastes fresh. I like "room temperature" soft food in this case because after "chew" alot from the party my jaws are sore and ut can also cause headaches and neck stiffness. Move, stretch, eat.
*Also followed by dizziness, getting off balance whrn I move my head.
OMG this is exactly what I’m getting. I didn’t know how to explain the sound but you’ve just described it perfectly. Any diagnosis?
