I get this too, and it is torture... but i think I have figured it out!!!!!!!!!!!! I added liquid minerals called Concentrace to my water after drinking the last 3 times I drank heavily and I had absolutely NO PAIN the next day. I think it really does have to do with dehydration and low electrolytes. I always notice after drinking alcohol that no matter how much water I drink I can never get rehydrated, but the extra minerals help the water actually absorb into my body, letting me rehydrate and avoid the awful bruised feeling. If you cant find Concentrace, maybe try drinking high pH mineral water or even gatorade, but that might be too sugary before bed. If anyone else tries this let me know if it works for you! I am so excited to have potentially solved this problem!

It sounds like my situation is closer to yours. No bruises or sensitivity to touch, for me. I begin feeling this after about an ounce of alcohol; cooler, mixed drink or wine. However, I never felt like vomiting and no tingling. Usually, if I eat I don't feel it much. However, the other night I had to just sit because i felt it from my shoulders to my ankles. I don't drink often at all but it's a scary feeling and the times that it happened to me I wondered if I would end up in the hospital. The first thing that I thought was that it was alcohol poisoning. Have you found out anymore about this?

After 10 minutes of taking a shot I literally feel like someone is squeezing me so tight and I start breathing heavily and I sweat perfusely and it feels like I'm dying. My whole body aches and it's the worst pain ever. It happened once really bad after taking a shot of 40% Gin and it hurt like hell but after 30 minutes of pain I felt ok again and I was able to drink normally without even getting drunk, it was so weird!

hi there, it does sound like what all of us have here, I'm referring to the onset of bruised feeling 24 hours after alcohol. In my case it's 12 hours but I think it's all the same. as said before by many others it is related to hydration and recently I finally found a doctor that believes it's an acute form of rabhdomiolisys. alcohol triggers the exit of water from the veins, amongst the other things, and it goes into the muscles, creating this feeling of acute pain when touching. it does not only do that, it also becomes more and more difficult to expel toxins, as kidneys do not manage to have enough water to work, and also your myocardium gets enlarged. Rabhdom is a disease that can be aquired through great shock to internal system, and by all sorts of other things. check it out, even though when you read the symptoms you will find that it is not what you have, the doctor that diagnosed it to me says this is a particular and acute form of it. and it all adds up when you start reading about it. . However nobody can tell me if once you have it you can get rid of it. But you need not to drink as the damage to your body is done not only when you have the acute phase, but all the time when you drink. progressively, the body will not manage to work properly, like it happened to me. unfortunately the only solution is not drinking.

I began to suffer from the body tenderness when I started drinking at age 17 which is best described as a 'bruised' feeling but seems to really be a pain of the adipose tissue which may be connected to neuropathic pain or hormone imbalance.  I've been obsessed with researching this pain since doctors have failed time and time again to come up with a realistic prognosis.  The first thing doctors always seem to say is it is fibromyalsia and want to prescribe anti-depressants.  This is a cop-out, bull-sh*t diagnosis for doctors who have no idea what your problem is and would rather think it's in your head. I'm not saying fibromaylsia is not real, but the key indicator of this disease is MUSCLE pain that does not go away and has no particular cause.  I'm willing to bet money that all of you folks recover after a good 9-12 hours sleep and would never characterize your pain as an 'ache' or a deep, searing pain.  Over time my pain has become more acute and more frequent as well as connected to more than a night of drinking.  It also happens when I do not get enough sleep, which I read in at least one persons response in this thread, and surprisingly it is also connected to menstruation.  The common factor in all of these activators is HORMONE imbalance.  I've been tested thus far for the fallowing possible causes: Lyme disease, auto-immune, heart disease, anemia, vitamin and mineral deficiency, liver disease, and thyroid problems; that I can remember!  I have NONE of these problems and have a very healthy body otherwise.  This is my latest hypothesis and has not yet been sufficiently tested but I no longer have health insurance so the hormone panel will have to wait.  There is one more piece of information I'd like to share.  The only other people I've spoken to whom can relate to the type of pain we are all describing are people who are undergoing chemo therapy.  In one article I read hormone imbalance is one result of chemo and does cause generalized full body pain.

One obvious treatment for this pain is to not drink. But if you're like me, not drinking is simply to extreme for something that is probably not causing any systemic problem or a siren sounding a warning for a bigger issue.  After all the tests I've undergone I'm about 65% comfortable saying I think it is a fairly harmless, however annoying, bodily response to a little extra stress on your sensitive body, PROBABLY caused by hormones.  I will continue to try to solve this medical mystery and try to catch any possible cause for concern before it's too late.  If I learn anything more, or if you have more to add to this, I will return to this thread.  Good luck and happy drinking (followed by happy recovering).

I have an answer for you guys, but it may not relate to all of you. My parents both have sever fibromyalgia, and it started affecting me about 7 years ago. For some reason now if I drink beer, after the first sip I get the sever bruising pain throughout my entire body. So I stay away from beer, but I do drink liquor sometimes. The next day after drinking, sometimes if I have too much, I get that bruising feeling for days. I have it right now actually and this is 2 days after drinking. Contrary to what many people believe MEN DO GET FIBRO TOO! So don't rule yourself out just because your a guy. Doctors are becoming more and more educated on this disease and although some still think it's c**p, most don't nowadays. Alcohol is a fibro trigger, as is intense anxiety, a sudden jerk in the body, for example, turning your head really fast and getting tensed up when you see sometimes out of the corner of your eye. Hearing bad news, getting really upset, is a trigger as well. You will know you may have it if you get painful bruising feeling all over for no reason, or in just certain parts of your body. The one who talked about inflamed blood vessels is also correct. That causes the same type of feeling, although strange to think that the all over body pain is coming from veins being inflamed everywhere.
Like I said it may not relate to all of you, but fibromyalgia can be the cause of this for some. It is for me.

I just found this. I know it was posted for ever ago. Sorry. But because it happens so quickly, I'd get checked out for Hodgkin's Disease. It may just be an allergic reaction, but it wouldn't hurt to see a doctor.

Yep, experiencing that right now! Problem is when you over indulge with alcohol, it leaves you dehydrated.
What you're feeling is the drying-out effects of booze on the cartilage.
Only solution is drink tons of water :)

Funny you mention it! I was just searching online for this, because the same thing happens to me. I have some pretty rough knots in my upper back, which I'm told are probably related to a muscle imbalance. They tend not to bother me so much, but after a drinking night, I will be in pain for a couple of days. I've recently noticed that also on those days, I feel hints of an old knee injury as well. I'm wondering if maybe the alcohol just puts my body in some sort of inflammatory state. The knots in my back could be explained by maybe a sleeping position thing, but the knee in addition? Definitely something going on.

I had the same thing going on but Ive had a massive kidney infection about 7 months ago and since I feel bruised all over my ribs and my abdomen and severe on both sides of my lower back (where kidneys are) I thought thats what this was. I use to drink a lot in my past, but the past 3 years it has been cut down to almost nothing, I havent gotten drunk since october and its almost feb and I drank 2 nights ago (sat) its monday, and I feel like someone beat the sh*t out of me. Kinda happy I seen this cause I didnt think it was related to drinking but maybe it is. Still going to the er and having my kidneys looked at later because the last time i spent 10 days with my body feeling like someone beat the sh*t out of me accompained with a fever of over 105 for all 10 days and im not doing that again. But now i know to let them know I did drink the other day. good luck everyone!

I really hope this helps you! I know it was posted a couple years back, but are you one of those responsible drinkers who drinks water between each drink? I recently stopped binge drinking and started being more responsible. That was when the pain started for me. It also came at a time when I wasn't eating enough fruit. Same pain! We're talking adipose pain and everything! What I came to find out is I seemed to be overhydrating and urinating out all my vitamins. I started eating bananas
before and after like someone suggested, and drinking a LITTLE less water. The recovery was almost instant. Really hope this helps because that pain is so annoying.

Sometimes I worst than others. Sometimes it's feels like getting clubbed on the back with a baseball bat. I've been getting checked out by my cardiologist just to be on the safe side.

Well Guest , my guess is if you got drunk and feel bruising around your Torso, AND you are pregnant, I would say .....Yeah..... something may have went down the night before that you may not remember.
