Hi. I have felt on the ice while snowboarding. I had a swollen one chick and I had hematoma (blood lake) so I could not walk. I got rid of it quiet fast with leech therapy. It is not the most pleasurable thing in the world to feel those creatures on your butt sucking the blood out, but i started to walk immediately and in a week the hematoma was gone. They left 3 little scars on my butt, because I have sensitive skin, but you can live with those. Also, my roundness has been deformed a little but nothing like any of you describe, and I think now that that would be prevented with every now and then massage of the butt, to prevent a scar growth. My butt is fine, and trust me I spend 3 days in a hospital with one of my chick huge like I am a Big Mama and a week at home, and and could not walk at all. This is not where I have had a therapy, but it is just an example. And I have nothing to do with this link. It is NOT a promotion.  ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** web addresses not allowed*** Please read our Terms of Use

Massage was/is totally not an option for me. I suggest trying this: gently shake or jiggle the area. Rotate hot cold as my ortho surgeon told me. Both truly helped with pain and can't hurt to try? It's uncomfortable but seemingly effective to loosen up the knot. Best wishes!

wow , its honestly awesome to see that soo many people have this problem. im 21 and i have been dealing with the SAME ISSUE for 19 years now. when i was 2 years old i fell on a sharp metal rod in a playground and it literally split my left butt cheek open causing what now looks like a dent [or so my family has always called it, they apparently think its funny] .. well, i dont think its funny. never have. in fact i have always been very insecure about it. i wish to get rid of it but i dont want to pay a million dollars for it!! had anyone ever had a surgerylike this and could give me some feedback on the cost and healing process??

I just had my hemotomia drained last friday.....It had been a month since I fell and was worried that all the blood would be dryed up but guess what.... they got 8oz of blood out that was walled off and trapped there. If I hadn't seen all your posts I never would have insisted on having it done because all the doctors said to just give it time and it would heal. I know I did the right thing. The bump is gone but I'm still sore and still have a slight dent.... I'm just relieved to have the tangerine sized bulge gone. God Bless you all and I'm praying for each of you. Love, Tara

The same thing happened go me in February this year. Doctor said it would go awayand I had an ultrasound done in which they said it will just take a long time to heal. It's been 8months and I now have a dent there of the stair imprint and a small bulge above it. I had a great but and it pisses me off everyone I see or touch it. Has anyone found any options yet for our bad luck? I was going for deep tissue massages for bit which seemed to help but it's too expensive to continue. Even she told me she will not be able go get it 100 percent:(

I am shocked to be reading this. I have suffered from the same problem for 28 years. I feel down the stairs when I was seven. I am now 35. I had surgery done to remove the large mass that developed on my hip when I was a kid. The doctors told me the swelling from surgery and the scar would go away in a few years. That was a lie. Since then, I have developed another large mass right above the original one. It is very noticeable and big. I have to be cautious of what I wear so people won't ask or comment about my deformity. As a kid I got teased because of the lump. As an adult, it's still embarrassing. I try to hide it as much as possible. I was afraid to get another surgery done since the first one didn't work. Thinking another surgery would deform me even more. It feels better knowing I'm not alone. I really thought I was the only one.. So if anybody has found something that works for good, please let us know. I would like to live a normal life one day without hiding my deformity in secret and getting embarrassed all these years.

I had the same accident and have a similar "scar." This was over a year ago and it has not diminished at all. I think the fall was so hard the muscle tore and reattached- or something. Anyway, I don't know of a fix.

Had the same injury several weeks ago.  Slipped in a horse barn and landed extremely hard on my left buttock, huge hematoma developed.  Ignored it for a week and then went to see my doctor.  He prescribed a week of antibiotics as it was hot and looked as an infection was developing, also  hot-moist compresses several times daily and Hirudoid cream (I currently live in Northern Italy so don't know what the US equivalent would be).  However, he told me the treatment was a long shot and that it would probably need to be drained/excised.  Went back after a week as instructed and he gave me a script for removal and the cell phone of the surgeon I was to call at my local hospital great doc who last year removed a lypoma from the back of my neck).  Called Monday afternoon,  he found me a spot between surgeries Tuesday morning (yesterday)  and removed a very large hematoma which he said was already becoming encapsulated and had absolutely no possibility of ever being reabsorbed.  Removal was painless, local anesthetic, whole procedure took less than 1/2 hour.  Wound irrigated, packed with gauze (I think) as it needs to be kept open, and bandaged.  Need to go back to the hospital daily for wound medication, probably 8-10 treatments after which it should be fine. It will heal from the inside out much an an abscess should.  Doc said I should have a small scar and that's about it.  Was prescribed some drops for pain but didn't even need them.  Anyway, my suggestion is to  get this condition treated early....I'm pretty fortunate here as I live in Friuli which has few residents and a good healthcare network plus of course national health so this all will set me back nada...good luck

Hey guys I've been getting 30 minute deep tissue massages every week or two weeks where she also performs cupping to get the blood flowing. It is slowly getting better. Not sure If it will ever be 100 percent though :(. I wish I had started this earlier in February. But still worth the try

Hey this is Tara. I am a 33 year old half marathon runner and I had the same issue...It's been mostly resolved now thanks to having it drained. Make sure you read my other posts....If you act now before the blood hardens you can get rid on the lump. I didnt have good ins. so was worried about cost but it only ended up being 700dollars because I did it with anestisa....It didn't hurt it actually was a huge relief of pressure. Put ice on it after the prcedure for a couple weeks..it can get a bit swollen and infamed at times if you don't. Good Luck and God Bless!

Same thing happened to me oct 28th almost two weeks ago slipped on the top stair of a wood staircase and slid all the way down on my left butt cheek. it started with an awful bruise and lump. Now I have a half moon shaped bruise with a lump at the top and a dent underneath. I'm going to go to the doctor ASAP. Hopefully we all can heal from this. I do not want this deformity for the rest of my life.

Sounds like exactly what I had happen to me in February. They said I had hematoma but docs never advised I needed anything drained and that it would heal. The scar tissue is there now as the discoloration has almost completely went away but there's a minor indent left enough to notice in tight pants. I hate it:(. I had a nice butt.

After reading all of these posts and having the exact same issue, I went to the doctor today and she laughed off these posts and said there was nothing that she could do for me and that a surgeon would not take me to drain it. I fell down the stairs 20 days ago. I am getting a second opinion tomorrow but doubt I will get the help I need to get rid of this lump. :( I wish I had your Dr. Tara. I am so upset
