I will be praying for you! You have no idea how hard it was to get anyone to do it for me. I doctor that finally sent me to have it drained put on the report that he didn't reccomend the drainage! But he sent me to a Radiologist who did the ultrasound guided drainage it took maybe 5 mins.... but they had to admit me to the hospital and all that.... Keep at them. The Radiologist told me that if i hadn't had it drained I would probably have had to live with it for the rest of my life. He said it was walled off! I really will be praying. Sorry you are having to deal with this!

I had the exact thing happen to me 10 days ago and went the next day to the Urgent Care where they told me to stick to moist heat and anti- inflammatories. I told them that I had heard that if it was a hematoma it would need to be aspirated within 48 hours. They said it wasn't. Then yesterday I found this blog be cause I clearly have a gigantic hematoma on my left butt cheek. I went back to Urgent care and they concurred that I SHOULD have had it aspirated the last time.  Now they say it has conjealed to the point where a plastic surgeon will have to do a hospital (not out patient) surgery make an incision that will allow a tennis ball sized blob of jello like congealed blood out. I can expect a scar and a huge bill.  So today I went to a plastic surgeon and instead of jumping right to surgery they attempted to aspirate and got over a cup of blood out. I won't know for a week if this will do the trick or if a further procedure is needed. This blog really motivated me to trust my instincts and get more medical attention so I want to thank you and to Reiterate that TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE. Do not let them talk you out of immediate aspiration and the sooner you realize that the problem is not improving the better.

God bless you!!!! I'm so glad that you got help! I'll be wearing a swim suit to my up coming trip to florida in a couple of weeks thanks to my aspiration!

So, I visited this thread in September when I fell down a flight of stairs and landed on my ass.It initially started as a huge black bruise, and then I thought the baseball sized lump would go away went to the doctor they prescribed some b/s pills and said it would go away. Well its now February and its still there.I read somewhere about cabbage leaves and some arthritis cream, I tried that too. The hot cloths with epsom salt, tried that too. After a ultrasound and a MRI later, its been confirmed that I have fluid in between a layer of fat.Im 22 and let me tell you its embarrassing any form fitting clothes its there. My friends think its funny I dont.Needless to say I will be going under the knife. My doctor has sent me to a plastic surgeon. So now in 3 days I will be having surgery to get rid of it. My doctor stated that I will have a scar on my butt and that for 4-5 days have a drainage attached to my butt. I hope all goes well. Im real nervous but I do want to give my two cents to anybody going through this to PLEASE take care of it immediately. It will not go away.Time will not heal it.You will need to have it drained.Ill keep you guys posted after it fully heals. Wish me luck.

I still have a lump. But I did have an ultra sound completed a few months after the injury where they said it was just deep tissue damage. Which I can feel. No pain but just an indent. Do you guys think its at all possible that there is blood that needs to be drained beneath it? An I don't know about it? Could the ultrasound be wrong ?

I still had a lump for awhile after my drainage too....for a while I was thinking of having it redrained but with the now the four months after my drainage the lump isn't noticable. I still have a small indention right where I hit the seat. ....but isn't even noticable in a swim suit. .....They should be able to tell in an ultra sound if there is remaining fluid as the fluid looks black .....just like the fluid around the baby when ur preg.....Hoping and praying for the best for all of your cases. Thanks Tara. Well cause of the advice here I will go back for a second opinion and perhaps MRI to be certain! But like I said previously, the ultrasound lady said there was no hematoma to be concerned about and that it would just take a Lon long time to heal. If I leave it as it, I am certain the bulge will not go away. It's slightly noticeable for me in a bikini to describe to you how big it is. I can feel my muscle damage and how much has healed over time by running my fingers over it. Well I will let you guys know how my second opinion goes. Once I have more money I may considger some cosmetic surgery if it will fix it. So long as what I'm doing now (deep massage, hot and cold presses) don't work overtime

Had the same thing happen fell down icy stairs early December and in January I brought it up to my doctor and he said it would go away just like some of yours did. And I had read these and expected he'd say that. But then towards the end of February the lump and dent started to hurt and get sharp pains not to mention was a huge insecurity because it had gotten bigger. So I went back in and my doctor sent me to get an ultrasound right away then from there I was sent to the surgeon to talk abut surgery. Tomorrow is the big day of surgery to have the lump cleaned out and removed. Nervous but ready to no longer have a third buttcheek that everyone notices! Good luck to everyone else!

Have been reading the posts and decided to weigh in. Just before Thanksgiving 2012 I fell hard on the deck stairs. I have the dent and the lump same as many have described. I played it down figuring it would just heal, I didn't want it to intefere with my plans for Christmas away. I had it drained the first time just before the trip. This was about 3 weeks after it happened. It filled up again. Then once at my destination I went to an Urgent Care and had it drained a second time. I had to talk the doctor into draining it. She didn't want to, saying it will only fill up again. Sure enough it did. Once I got home, I had it drained yet a third time, only to fill up again, again. Hower it has diminished somewhat in size, which is really no consolation because the silouette of my rear is nevertheless destroyed.  So I am not understanding the ones who advise simply to have it drained. I wish. The dent is hard enough to accept,  if I could at least get rid of the ballooning above it. I had been holding out hope until I could see a plastic surgeon, which I did today. I was looking forward to my consultation, so sure I was heading back to being normal.  But after listening to him I declined the surgery. He warned that I would probably still have a dent and that there was still a possibility it would continue to fill up, plus there would be a significant scar. So I thought why bother if I would be no better off, and possiby even worse off. Plus I did not like it that he sent me down for a couple xrays. So on top of it all, I got a needless dose of radiation. My sense was that the X-rays told him nothing. Re: the surgery, I told him I would think about it. Now I don't know what to do, but I do not want to have to live with it. Seems if there is a will there must be a way. When I massage it, I can feel grissle-like material. Someone told me the enzyme serrapeptase gets rid of scar tissue. I got some of that. Not sure if I should try getting it drained again to see if this time it will be different. I was so hoping the surgery would get rid of the dent and that the volume would retore itself. I envisioned the blood and fluid in the bubble on top would relesed to fill in that area. But he said he doesn't work like that. I wish I had something better to offer than just to commiserate.  I don't know if I should risk the surgery.  So here we go.  I guess I should seek yet another opinion.

Sorry that the drainage wasn't a perfect solution for you. You have my prayers. <3

Try heat.  I went into a tanning bed and the VERY large bump went down considerably.

I fell on 4/17/13 down the stairs.  I was sick and had chills so I was all bundled up and had slippers on.  I developed a large bruise on my left buttocks.  After about 10 days my cold symptoms were gone, and I wanted to get back to my exercise routine so I did a DVD which included some squats and lunges.  A couple of days later I developed a large lump where the bruise was healing.  I'm not sure if the exercise aggravated the area or if I would have developed the lump anyway.  I went to the doctor a few days later and she diagnosed me with a large hematoma and referred me to a general surgeon.  I ended up going to a plastic surgeon today because I thought he would be more concerned with asthetics.  He said that I did not have a hematoma and it was actually a seroma.  He aspirated it with a needle and was able to pull out 4 oz of clear fluid.  He said that I will probably have to have it drained again next week but my symptoms should resolve and the lump should not be permanant.  He said that without the aspiration the muscle can become more fibrous and harden.  The lump is immediately flatter.  He instructed me to ice the area and avoid exercise for a few days.  So far so good.  I am posting this in hopes that it will help someone else.  I will post again if the lump comes back and my symptoms aren't resolved.  Thank you for this thread.  It was very helpful to me to know to seek medical attention right away.  Also, I would advise skipping a visit to the primary doctor and going straight to a surgeon so no time is wasted.

Hi everyone, the same thing happened to me 1 year ago. I fell through wooden stairs only on my right cheek of the buttocks and had hematoma. The doctor said it would go away but it's been 1 year and it was still there, my buttocks was deformed and it was also visible through clothes. HOWEVER, I JUST HAD A SURGERY, and the hematoma is OUT, the form of the buttocks is ALMOST like it was before the accident, but i am still waiting for the swelling to stop because it is my 2nd day after the surgery. So, i went to a plastic surgeon. And he did some kind of a reverse liposuction. First, he sucked the hematoma out with a small cannula(the needle with which usually body fat gets sucked out-liposuction) and than as the hematoma contained also some fat tissues, he put only the fat tissues back in my buttocks in order to correct the form. The operation lasted only 40min. I have a meeting with the surgeon in a couple of days where we will discuss whether i am satisfied with the form of my butt cheek or not. If not, than there is the possibility to: 1stly - take fat from a part of my body and than 2nd - inject it in the butt cheek and so correct the form.

Hi The same happened to me as well 2 months ago. I have to wait another 6 to 9 months before surgery can be done. I am really happy to hear that it worked out well! How does it look now? And did they put the fat tissues back in a scare? Or did you not hevae a scare?
