It sounds like pancreatitis
I get this pain, I'm currently experiencing it right now. I think I know what causes it too. I am currently on a low carb high fat diet. All my life I've had chronic back pain and I started this diet because there have been links made between carb intake and inflammation. Carbs are known to cause inflammation. My guess is that when we drink alcohol (which is so often filled with sugar) our bodies become inflamed causing pain. I get the same reaction when I have a meal high in carbs these days, eg a pizza. Just a theory but I hope it helps.
I have to agree with the dehydration theory. I've had back pain for years now for multiple reasons. But every now and again if I got out on a weekend and have to much vodka I wake up in the middle of the night with severe lower back pain and have to sit in a hot bath for 30 min before I can go back to sleep. You get yourself dehydrated and your back pays for it the most because that part takes the most abuse while standing and walking. Try fitting in a glass of water between drinks. Or deff put down a couple bottles once you get home.
You might getting back pain due to alcohol drinking. You should should stop drinking alcohol immediately and consult to the chiropractor or doctor to identify the exact cause of pain.
I also suffer from back pain after drinking. When I was at university I went out partying lots and dehydrated my system regularly. This caused me to have frequent attacks of UTI's.
Since then I have stopped the partying so much and also cut out caffeine.
I now find if I don't drink enough water or drink too much alcohol (this also reduces fluid intake) then I get the problem.
It is more so if I am away and steadily drinking over the weekend rather than 1 night of heavy binge drinking.
My advise is plenty of water, stay away from dark spirits and caffeine. By doing this I can still enjoy myself without too much trouble.
I hope this helps!
I drank hard this weekend! When I drink a lot I start getting back pain. I think it pinches and messes with your nerves and muscles because you get dehydrated. if you put icy hot on your back then take a nap wake up then get hydrated with water only!!! Take a hot bath. Your pack pain will go away it will still be there a little bit. But before you go to bed put more icy hot on when you wake up you should feel much better it worked for me!!
All of you, just shut up and stop drinking. Yes study's show that a person who drinks heavily (meaning a LOT) alcohol dehydrates the muscle and causes it to weaken. You will not know a big difference when muscles are weak, so you go on start doing your normal routine like "hiking, running, and sports that deal with your spine. Well here's the truth!!!!!! Your muscles are not supporting your spine 100% which will TEAR the FIBERS around your spinal disk which will eventually will end up with herniated disc or some kind of spinal injury... SO YOU CAN STOP DRINKING SO THAT WILL STOP THE THINKING OR DRINK LOTS AND WONDER LOTS. its up to you..
Research 'Adrenal fatigue'. Pain around the kidneys (particularly after sleeping), low back pain, sciatica and other lower extremity leg pain. It took me a long time to identify that as the issue ... caffeine and alcohol trigger it for me (especially if I consume both in the same day). I threw away many mattresses, bought many chairs, consumed large amounts of ibuprofen (until that stopped working), had moderate success treating the pain with Mg supplements, tried many different strength workouts and yoga. Ultimately, eliminating my daily coffee and wine resolved the issue, without having to treat with anything else. I love both coffee and wine, but remind myself of the debilitating pain associated with it before I drink either -- I now limit myself to one or two of each a week, rather than both daily.
Your back is craving more alcohol so u must drink more and the pain will cease. If pain returns drink immediately until it subsides. Repeat as required.
I experience similar intense pain mostly in the flank but some epigastic. The pain come on right after drinking 1 or 2 wine cooler or fruity type drinks. I keep wondering if it is some flavoring or additive. I can drink regular wine or beer or mixed drinks with soda. It is only the fruity type drinks that cause the problem. The pain is much like a gallbladder attack or kidney stones. Very intense. Lasting only 20-30 minutes.
hi ..so sorry to here about your troubles .....I have serious back pain and im frightened ...I am an alcoholic who has recently totally fell of the wagon after six months clean and sober !! my back is agony inside !! what could it be babe!!?????? x
hello all, more than anything it seems as though alcohol is a diuretic causing an already chronically dehydrated person to basically bottom out. fluid loss in the vertical columns probably causing some pain and discomfort along with inflammation usually comes with 10 years of drinking sometimes a lot less than that
I am a female who is only 21 years old. i have been drinking for a little over 8 years. i drink an average of 25 glasses a week and recently i've been having the same problem. my lower back hurts so badly. i have been trying to reduce my alcohol consumption so i've reduce my drinking to a glass or two daily and my back worsens there after.
I feel humbled and honoured to have read you post. Thank you for sharing and and the article, you are truly an inspiration. From my heart to yours :-)
Hi Friends, I am also suffering from same back pain after having the alcohol. It's not any disease, I found the reason. "Sleeping position is causing this pain" generally in sleeping time some position hurting, automatically our brain tells us change position. But after having the alcohol long time we sleep in same bad position. So better sleep on floor. It solved my problem. All the best. I know my English is not good but I am trying to convey the message.
