Hi everyone,

I just wanted to add my two cents worth and give some information to those who are thinking about this diet.

I started 8 weeks ago, at 200 lbs., and I have lost 32 pounds with 28pounds still to lose. While it's true that we all know what we should and should not eat, we don't all have the will power and motivation to eat sensibly. For me, that is what I'm paying for at Dr.B - for someone to make sure I follow the guidelines. I would love to cheat sometimes, but I know that the urine test will show no ketones, and then the nurses will know I cheated. And yes, this is what I'm paying for - for someone to know that I cheated. End result - I don't cheat.

I am getting tired of not having treats, and I'm counting the days/weeks until I can eat "normally." But there is one thing I can truly say about this diet - it works. The only way to fail would be to quit - and you won't quit because you have paid in advance. By the way, you can pay for 1, 2, 4 or 8 weeks at a time (the longer term you pay for, the cheaper it works out to be.)

You write down everything you eat, and the nurses go over the sheet everytime you go (which is 3 times a week.) Your urine is tested twice a week to make sure you are in ketosis (fat-burning.) Every three weeks or so, you see the doctor. Every time you go to the clinic, you get a vitamin B injection. You also take a multi-vitamin and potassium supplements. Each visit takes about 10 minutes of your time, then you are on your way.

Good luck to everyone, I wish us all success.

Hi just wondering if this would be ideal for someone who is only looking to lose 20 pounds? And are we allowed to lift weights/cardio?

lol well if anyone is wondering the answers to your question id be happy to answer them

1.yes you can do this diet with your health issues.

2. it is around 700-800$$$ a month for an adult, unless of course your 15 or under then you can get the diet for half price. and if you go in with a friend/parent and you join, you both get 1 free week. the consultation fee is free if you join the diet, or it costs about $50.

3. the injections are vitamins, and theyre used to give you energy because your calorie intake is so low. you also get potassium pills, and a big vitamin if your an adult. if your a child, you get calcium pills, vitamin d pills, potassium and a big dr bernstien diet.

4. the injection is NOT optional, but you can either get it in your bum cheek, your stomach, or your thigh. getting the needle in your stomach hardly hurts at all. i know this from personal experience, and its easy peasy lemon squeezy.

5.you dont have to avoid touching oily things, they tell you not to use a lotion with oil in it but i used BIO OIL, which helped me get rid of my stretch marks. you can buy bio oil from shoppers drug mart.

Hello,

I have finished with Dr. Bernstein diet about a year and a half ago. Lost 80 pounds in 5 1/2 months. It was hard, very hard!!! I cant say I was not hungry. But maintaining this ideal weight I'm still hungry lol. Want to be healthy and skinny means no fried food, no bread, not a lot of pasta, potatoes, rice....it has cost us $2,700 and we did get a tax break. My husband was not supportive of such a high cost but understood that I wanted to do tho and do it quick. I gained all this weight through my latest pregnancy. If you cheat on this diet...you will not loose and weight that week, if you don't respect measurements the same thing, so for me I did not want to waste $170 a week because I feel like a pice of cake. Think twice that that cake or bread or extra meal will cost you almost $200...is it worth it??? I managed....made a decision and did it. And I'm soooooooo proud of myself. Keeping the weight off is up to you. If you will go back to your old ways....guess what happened last time. you gained weight and you will again if you eat more than you should. For the lady that gained 160 pound back. We all know how she gained them back!!!! By eating enormous amounts of food!!! So here is me 5'8" 135 pound for the last year and a half. Still working on it every day and being conscious  about what goes in my mouth. I went to the clinic in Mississauga on Dundas and every single nurse was amazing and supportive. I love these gals!!! Thank you for getting my life back. Loving every shopping experience again and buying a small size :o)))) Anybody who was buying clothes in plus size departments know how to appreciate  these moments. It up to you to make a lifestyle change after you loose the weight!!! Good luck

Do you know what strength the vitamin B6 & B12 are. It would be interesting too know. As my extended medical pay if it is for heath reasons, but not for dieting. I would think dieting is for heath reasons.

The diet is somewhat easy but its hard. and you need to stick to it. I lost 50 pounds in just 4 months but i stuck to it. The most hard part is to have the support around you, when you go out to eat at fast food places or restaurants. If you want it bad, then youll have to do the hard work. But it pays off in the end. Once when at your goal weight dont think that now you can eat whatever you want it doesnt work like that, its a life style change. You need to stick to it. or you'll gave it all right back. The only downfall was that my health benefits from work did not cover me at all. So everything I paid for out of my own pocket.

Thats what I thought at first but you need to check with your health benefits, Mine did not cover anything. so be prepared if you need to pay everything with little or no coverage. Its expensive.

I was on this diet on and off for a few years. Lost weight but gained it all back fast. Not a solution. PluS dr. B is not an ice person and does not care for his patients. It is all business and not a clinic. I was late for one min for my appointmenta early in the morning during the snow storm, got upset that could not see a doctor ... There was no one in the wait room but was asked to leave the program.. Spent thousands dollars with them
