Take a cotton swab and dampen it with baby oil or mineral oil. Wipe it across the lash line as close to the lashes and roots as possible. You can do this morning and/or at night. My doctor said this is the best way to hydrate the skin around the lashes which will reduce the amount of lashes being lost at one time. If possible avoid using eye make up and definitely avoid curling your lashes, as curling your lashes tugs them lose. If you must wear mascara, try other curling techniques such as rolling your mascara brush upward whilst applying the product. Let lashes dry until tacky then use your finger to apply slight pressure at the base of the lash. This curling technique is not as dramatic as a using a lash curler but it saves the lashes from being tugged on.

Hi! Ive been in the same situation last year, it really freaks me out so ive decided to go to a clinic and have an eyelash extension, but it was good for only two weeks and started to fall off since the extension depends on your lash itself, the shorter the lash, the weaker is the foundation so it will fall off easily, so i asked the them if theres a way to bring back my lashes other than the extension, and they suggested me to use their product "shu uemura lash builder" its a kind of serum in a mascara form, at around $33...that product was amazing and i highly recommend it to all of you, i just tried applying it maybe 3times and without me knowing it, i was surprised one day that my lashes are back! Long and healthy!! I guess after a month, its really good coz it works for me, i just dont know how quick it will work on you, but theres no harm in trying especially when you're desperate to bring your lashes back! Hope this helps.

Stress is most likely the cause of loosing your eyelashes. This is the second time it has happened to me and both times I was having issues with my work place. They grew back the first time pretty quickly and hoping the same happens again.

I had the same problem and I read online that you can use patrolleum jelly on your eyelashes WITH OUT mascara over night. Use that every single night for 2 weeks and that should strengthen them and can also make them grow faster. I hope that helps.!!!

Woke up this morning to find a bald spot on my right eye too! I have a 10 yr old habit of pulling on my lashes but I never thought it would affect me like this. I pull on them when my lash line itches and I guess that's due to allergies broughy on by the environ and eye makeup.I have very long full lashes and so the bald spot is kinda obvious. Good thing I wear a side bang on the right. Till then I'll lay off the shadows, mascara and liner and only use Vaseline

I have recently discovered the same thing: the lashes on my left eye are gone (not the right as in most of the posts here). Unlike most, I only wear mascara very occasionally, so I don't think that's the problem.  I did have hypothyroidism at one point, but the doctor says my thyroid is fine now.  I am suspicious though, as I have been running every other day for two months, and have not lost a single pound.  I'm guessing it is thyroid related somehow.  It is disappointing to lose lashes, as mine were not thick to begin with. I have not done anything differently or used anything different to make this happen.  So frustrating!!!

I am 44 and have lost a clump of eyelashes on my left eye from the inside of my eye almost to the middle of my iris.  They fell out in November and still have not grown back and it is the end of February.  I have tried almost everything, including biotin supplements and now I am trying vitamin e oil at night.  The funny thing is that they had gone missing at the same time in the same place the last 2 years but they would always grow back within a month.  I always lose them right about November and they usually return by Christmas but not this year.  I have always worn mascara and curled my eyelashes but I don't think that is the cause as I always lose them in the same exact spot on my eyelid and no where else.  I am on thyroid medication but nothing I have tried is helping and I want my eyelashes back!

Anybody have any suggestions I will welcome them all!

Thanks!

Wow... you sound just like me! I am 44 and my doc is telling me that my thyroid is fine but I have lost a clump of eyelashes on my left eye (has happened in the same spot the last couple of years and always in November, they usually grow back by the end of December but not this year)

I workout 6 days a week and eat a clean Paleo diet and CANNOT lose any weight! It is extremely frustrating that I cannot get them to grow back. Even tried bioten supplements and vitamin e oil at night. If you figure anything out please let me know.

I have been losing my eyelashes, only on the upper eyelids. Right now, I have about only 10 lashes on one of my upper lids and not many more on the other. Sometimes I will have a gap of 1/4 - 1/2 inch between lashes. I can always see new growth coming in, but by the time they grow in, the others fall out. I've been having this problem for a little over a year. At first, I thought my eyelash curler was pulling them out or the rubber was worn and cutting them - not the case as I have been very careful to keep replacing the rubber or using new curler. (I don't know what I'm trying to curl because there is nothing there LOL) I've used an eyelash curler my whole adult life so I know it's not that. I just had my thyroid checked and the results were normal. If it were allergies caused by eye makeup, I'd lose my bottom lashes and that isn't happening. I am at a loss what it can be.

Like our hair on the human body your eye lashes will grow back to. Your lashes go through different stages of growth. The lashes are said to fall out little bits at a time and regrow new lashes. This happens about every 2 months or so. If you pull them out on accident you don't  need to worry they will grow back but it's takes a little time.

Good luck!

This discussion is soooo interesting and helpful.  I too have the problem of itching along the lash line until I pull out the lashes by the roots.  I have talked to my optometrist, who advised using baby shampoo to scrub twice a day, but the baby shampoo only seemed to make the problem worse.  My dermatologist thought it was blepharitis (as did my optometrist) but my lash lines are never sore or "crusty" as they would be with blepharitis, and taking antiobiotics (amoxicillin) did nothing.  The problem comes and goes, and the lashes have always grown back, although they are not particularly thick or long.

Here is something that I find works:  When the itching starts, instead of rubbing, scratching, or pulling, I take a cotton swab and dip it in ordinary household white vinegar, then run it along the lash line with my eye closed.  Leave it for a few seconds, then dab it off with a clean tissue.  Try not to get it in your eyes because it will sting (like getting soap in your eyes) although getting a little in the eyes makes them water like crazy, and THAT in itself relieves itching and irritation.  I have been doing this for years, and it is the only thing that helps.  The vinegar gives your existing lashes a nice, soft texture, too.  Good luck.
