hi I just started to learn guitar in class and I strum it with my thumb and since everyone on here says they play guitar I believe that is the reason but I wanted to pop it but I have guitar tommarow so do you think it would be better to pop it today and put a band aid on it to play or to just not pop it and play guitar without it popped then pop it after?

I had one on the tip of my middle finger, I poked a hole in it and some clear liquid cane out a few days later it turned a yellow green color, I squeezed it and a bunch of puss came out and then there was a hole now it's nicely healed over but it left a little scar. (In a pianist)

I have the same thing,i just poped it,squeezed the puss out, cleaned it,and put a bandade on it to make sure it did not get infected again. It hardly hurt at all.

I'm telling you people that it is indeed some foreign object logged in your skin. I have gotten this several times while working out and I believe that sometimes metal flakes come off the weights and can puncture your skin. I'm sure the same can happen from a guitar string..

I have this too but I am not a guitarist, it's very sore and annoying and has been there for ages and is definitely under my skin and is sore to touch

I developed a tiny white painful bump on my index finger and could only fine posts like these where people had the same thing and no one knew what it was. Just went to dermatologist yesterday and he said its a wart and froze it. Doesn't look anything like what I've seen warts look like but he's the pro.

Even today still a piece of wooden splinter, maybe a piece of thorn came out, besides all the hairy bits. State clinician/doctor has done nothing. I am disgusted. Suffering like this for 3+ years, they could have cleaned it out at their Minor Surgical department, but left me to suffer. (old pus, like salt and all that debris gradually coming out) Soaked in hot water too, added epsom salts. No money to see a skin specialist, no medical insurance. So seems like prayers is the only route now.

I get them too and from my research i think they are mineral deposits specifically a calcium deposit. it frkn hurts and i say get them out! They are not spoosed to be in the skin which is why it hurts. Its hard to get them and even harder to get ALL of it. Regardless, it feels tons better when you get it out even if there is a little blood, bandage it heals fast. Probelim is, these little suckers will come back if you continue whatever repetitve motion or strain was put on that part of your finger to begin with. You can google calcium deposits and see if it fits what u r hAving. Apparently they need to be surgically removed in some cases and can still come back! Ugh! I pop mine and enjoy the time when they are gone. Good luck!

I had a similar experience 3 years ago. The bumps turned out to be the result of an allergic reaction to yogurts with probiotics in it. I cut out all yogurts and any product with probiotics in them, and after about two months the bumps disappeared. Prior to that, I had the condition for more than a year, spent about $1500 in anti-itch creams and doctors visits. Finally, my ENT doctor told me to cut everything out of my diet and start over with things I have had for years like chicken, beef, vegetables, and fruit. Every few days, I added something back into my diet to figure out the culprit. It turned out to be Dannon yogurt and the Greek Yogurts. Dannon has their own patented probiotic which should scare people, but no one knows.

I've got the same thing, about 4 years now. Not a guitarist, used to play bass but didn't this thing back then. It doesn't hurt unless I poke or try to squeeze it. It's a bit annoying but I'm not quite fond of having a doctor cut it out. Just wish I knew what it was!
