Problems with recovery after face lift

I had a face lift 2 weeks ago and I'm very worried because I have a lot of
swelling araound the ears and jowl area and my face looks distorted.
So distorted that I'm ashamed to go into work because i'm scared people
will notice (I don't want anyone to know at work).
Also, I'm having problems eating things that are hard because of the pain when I use the relevant face muscles. Even when I'm not moving my face, I can feel it so tight, as if it has been pulled upwards too much.
Can anyone relate or has advice?

I had a face and neck lift by Dr W Morris in Durban whilst I was there for a month.Everything is healing nicely although I wish my ears felt normal again. I had my surgery done on the 21/2/2012
Hi,I had neck-lift, mid facelift, and upper and lower eyelid surgery on 4/16/12. Everything has been going well, except for the left side of my neck. My parotid (salivary) gland was "nicked" during the surgery and a pocket formed that collects the saliva. The swelling was pretty severe. Initially it went down my neck and as time went on, it felt like I had a very large golf ball in my neck. My ps recognized the problem and has been draining it and using botox to help stop the production of saliva so the site can heal. He stated that putting in a drain was a possibility. Today I met with him and things are getting better. He aspirated the site, injected more botox, and put a transform SCOP patch behind my left ear to stop saliva production. He also has me put pressure on my cheek (where the salvatory gland is) when I eat. All of these things are helping and I am noticing improvement everyday. I was very worried when this first happened too. Hope this helps. Hang in there.

I had a face and necklift 20 days ago in ontario, Canada and must say I am thrilled with the results. Apparantly I had a lot of bleeding on the right side of my neck, which meant the surgeon Dr Adams had to cauterize quite a bit in that area. I have some minor paralysis in my bottom lip only when I smile. Its not that noticable and hopefully will resolve. Otherwise I have no bruising, just tightness in the neck area and some scabs bahind my ears from the drains. I look and feel 10 years younger already. I was fit and the correct weight/height ratio before and I feel this was a big plus in my recovery.
You mean, stitches/sutures, not strings, I believe. That is probably due to the fact they are self-dissolving. You should have the kind of relationship with your Dr. that allows you to freely call and pose these concerns with him and/or his staff. :)
had a lower facelift 6 mos ago, drove home the next day 3 hrs. limited ability to open my mouth afterwards but absolutly no pain. face ws numb for 3 ms but prefect now. great experience, w/o problems and great new profile.
hi! Well, I am 7mos out now and mostly ok. I still have a bump on my eyelid and a scar at the corner of my eye that is bumpy. I need to go back to the doctor to discuss. The last time I saw him, at about 3 mo. he wanted to re-lift my eyes a bit more, use the old incisions to do so. I still haven't decided but my 1st inclination is no. The nerves in my scalp and forehead are still very sensitive. A weird thing happened about a month ago I was doing yoga and had a sensation in my ear of water coming out, it turned out to be dry blood that had been in there for 6 mo. gross I know, but also to think how my hearing must have been affected by it and whatever else. I think the doc should be a bit more careful during surgery blood must have been running into my ear? strange things happen. its like the old measure twice cut once...make sure you research twice and only need to be cut once. For the most part I see the benefits but I think I might have had a bit better of an experience and a little more benefit as well. It takes a toll on you so you want to get the right result the first time.
I think this all depends on your definition of pain. When the nerves are cut you have a lot of weird sensations, numbness, crawling feeling and some pain. For me it is not screaming pain but sensitivity seems to describe it best. It lessens with time. After 7mo. and having had a full facelift I still have forehead, scalp and ear sensitivity. I am pretty sure it will all resolve eventually.
can u tell me if your mouth improved or remained the same I am experiencing the same problem and it has been 3 weeks
I am 8 months out and still have very painful days. The numbness itching and pain come and go. I absolutely cannot exercise. Even a walk or yoga causes more facial pain. I was diagnosed with Fibro recently but i think most of my problems stem from delayed healing.
I don't blame my surgeon. I look fantastic but cannot physically do much. I used to walk 3-4 miles a day. Heat and humidity cause horrible pain.
I am 55 with hypothyroidism which makes me a lousy candidate. I wish I never had the procedure as my quality of life sucks now.
I am happy for those of you who recovered easily. Its an individual outcome.

Hi 2 weeks post smas. Little bruise at base of neck. I went back to work 4 days later, wore a startle neck and a scarf. Pain was pretty intense for first 2 days, but constipation was worse from pain meds. Needless to say managed pain/discomfort with Tylenol about 1 2 times daily. ( turtle neck). For next couple of days. S far happy with result.
Hallo. Did you go with Peter at the end? I would like to hear a feedback.
Thank you
