Problems with recovery after face lift

I had a face lift 2 weeks ago and I'm very worried because I have a lot of
swelling araound the ears and jowl area and my face looks distorted.
So distorted that I'm ashamed to go into work because i'm scared people
will notice (I don't want anyone to know at work).
Also, I'm having problems eating things that are hard because of the pain when I use the relevant face muscles. Even when I'm not moving my face, I can feel it so tight, as if it has been pulled upwards too much.
Can anyone relate or has advice?

Sounds like you want a lower face and neck lift only and yes it can be done in Henderson NV by DR H SHAH. Yes Most Doctors do want to do the WHOLE face and from what I have read here the WHOLE face is really a long healing and down time. DR H SHAH is the BEST. He did my neck lift, lower face lift and redone my mid face lift that was botched by other Doctors. Come to the US!!!

Hi, I had a mini facelift 8 days ago and I am also very swollen and feeling numb, sore and not able to open my mouth quite half way. I also cannot hear very well. I saw the doctor today and he said some blood may have dripped into the ear canal but with dry up over the next few days. It's bothersome. I was at a deli counter and when I was unable to understand the clerk after asking her to repeat herself, she became a little ticked off. Ugh I need my hearing back.
A few days to 10 days of a little hearing loss is what I had. I heard the Doctor can remove the blood. Also my girlfriend had ear infections, but they healed up with meds. Not sure why you cannot open your mouth all the way, yes it would be tight, I guess because mine was but I was able to open my mouth just fine. The swelling should be MUCH better by 8 days or at least mine was. I would see another Doctor and get an opinion and any Doctor that does not want you to see another Doctor is not a very good Doctor. I suggest DR H SHAH in Henderson

Had my neck /lower facelift July 24th, 2015, first 7 days were great and then I got this huge swelling on the left side, it turns out it is a damaged salivary gland. It was drained 3 times and this past Friday ,I had to go back to surgery for a botox treatment to the damaged gland and have a drain tube for 10 days. It appears to be helping. I almost backed out of having the original surgery but broke my rule of trusting my instincts. My surgeon said this is the first time he has had this happen.
Are you suffering from a transgeminal nerve injury?
Don't have one I can't stand this awful feeling of tightness and problems I would love to have my old face back and look and feel normal

Hi - I am four weeks out from a lower facelift and feel very similarly - kind of depressed and totally unprepared for the time it will take to heal. As you say, we tend to think "oh, back to to work in two weeks, no problem." But I'm swollen and don't look like myself. I hear 9 weeks for the swelling and numbness to be minimal but no full recovery for several months, even a year. This surgery was a BIG deal. I don't regret it, but I had no idea what I was getting into. I researched the doctor, etc and went to the best of the best. I just think the focus is on when you can go out in public, but people need to know how long they will not feel like "themselves" after the surgery.
It goes away and everyone is different
Thanks,
Gottcha Sister, I won't be doing this again!! 9 days post op, and while I am stable, no acute emergency's, the Severe nerve PAIN, edema, and bruising was not what I had seen online about mild discomfort!! Stay Saggy!!
Yes, your absolutely correct, Huge Big Deal! I am 54 years old, and 9 days post op, and while I am extremely grateful, I do not have a acute emergency, I was not prepared for the Nerve Pain, Burning, 9/10, and generally trauma, of a full facelift and neck lift. My surgeon told me that "a face-lift is a painless surgery". Couldn't be more untrue for me. My left eye, is still very red, lot's of bruising and edema, and the scars are very red around my eye's. So, my point, have lot's of support, to help you get through this time. I unfortunately, have had, a very depressive recovery. But, I have to be objective and note, that my precious dog of 15 years, also had to have an acute surgery 3 days ago, or I would of had to put him down. My main plumbing has backed up, due to Tree Roots, growing inside, and cannot use water, flush, etc,... for the last 4 days. Worst timing!! But, I think it's all going to be worth it eventually!!
I'm six months out from temple lift and face lift. Im 37.
If I knew that my biones woud be altered, salivary glands removed, eyrs hurt, tonsils shrunk, ears feel like someone pulling them, nose reshaped, neck choking feeling and somethin ferls loose, lips and face liposuctioned and also nipples and labia majora... etc.
I would have never ever have done this with Timothy J Marten in San Francisco.
I wish I knew. He eas supposed to be the best and now my head has been shrunk etc. problems. I'm too young to have all of these problems suddenly. I was a very healthy woman before.... Now I feel uncomfortable constantly due to the effects of the surgery. I asked for less and got too much and unwanted things done to me.
i am so sorry that you had these problems with your facelift. I had a lower facelift 2 weeks ago and every day I notice more bumps than the day before. I also have a huge pucker on my cheek and it looks so pulled and makes my face look distorted. My dr. promised me that in 2 weeks I would look great and all the bruising would be gone. Well, now he tells me it can be up until a year before everything heals and he won't do anything before a year. So I have to live like this for a year. I am so embarrassed and I still haven't left my house. I look in the mirror and I start crying. It's just so awful and my surgeon told me he can't do anything because I am still healing and he told me that I might need a revision surgery. I am so depressed and I just don't know what to do.
