ERs aren't free, you know. Clinic visit would be WAY cheaper than an ER visit. That is why healthcare is so expensive. People coming to ERs for non-emergent situations.
has anyone experienced gastric reflux since having Mirena in ? ive been in so much pain and taking so many meds for relief but they aren't working ,have heard the hormone in Merina can cause reflux and heartburn
Do you have any sort of medical experience or are you just guessing that this could be the case?
I had the copper IUD for a lil over three years and recently found out that it was sitting so low it was actually in the hole of my cervix, barely noticeable on an ultrasound, only really on a transvaginal one. I was told I had to wait 6-8 weeks for my other results from other tests before I could be seen at my doctor so they could decide whether or not removing it was a good course of action. Then my partner mentioned to me he'd been able to feel something "stabbing him" when he had sex, that had only started recently. I got sick of waiting and pulled the damn thing out myself. I had a small amount of bleeding and discomfort but it wasn't painful and honestly the only difference between the Dr doing it and me doing it is they use a speculum and forceps, otherwise they just pull it out the same way. If you're certain you know where your IUD is and you're confident in taking it out, there's no real harm in doing it yourself.
I just removed mine after researching it online. Im 41 yrs old, no kids, retroverted uterus, and got it for heavy painful periods. I dont know anything about the insertion since I got it done while under for a DnC with polypectomy three weeks ago. Spotting and cramping that has progressively gotten unbearable! I would rather have one week of pain a month than everyday and popping pain pills daily. I didnt want to wait for an appt and I know my doc would have tried to convince me to stick it out but I am OVER it! Plus I am going overseas for 10wks and did not want to worry about it. I wore a latex glove and with retrovert I figured it would be best to pull out while kneeling on ground leaning on arm (butt up in air). I was very nervous and my cervix is tight and always cramps up during paps, etc. I steadily pulled it out and it was EASY! No pain, just cramping as usual as it slid through cervix. And poof, I am so glad I didnt chicken out and had no issues. Still have some mild cramping and spotting an hour later but mentally I feel so much better!
I just took mine out too. No pain or resistance. I only had mine for 4 months but since then I have put on 8kgs, had an allergic reaction to an unknown (believe it was mirena) for over a month - even whilst on meds for it. About 3 weeks ago I noticed a yellow stinky discharge, tried antibiotics and swab came back -ve for bv. Then just this week I had a burning sensation inside with inflamed red skin. It was like an allergic reaction. Researched it and there is research to back up this thought. Tried to get into see a dr that was willing to remove it today with no luck, so 20sec and I had it out myself.
I removed mine last night. That said, I went to the OB/GYN for a check-up about 1 month prior and he said that there would be no issue removing it when i was ready, he could see the strings and the mirena had not implanted itself in my uterine wall. It didn't hurt, at all, just was a little awkward trying to grab the strings and maneuver it. I had no cramping whatsoever and no spotting at all. I had anticipated some sort of symptom, but nothing thus far. Mine was in for just over 3 years and we're hoping to try to start conceiving in 6 weeks. Good luck to anyone doing self-removal! If it hurts or you find it hard to find the strings, please go to your doctor.
You know, after reading your question, I came to realize that my heartburn and acid reflux started a little but after I got the Mirena. I never thought about the Mirena being the culprit. Well I removed mine an hour ago, so hopefully all my issues I've been having since being on the Mirena will go away!
Well ladies after spending all morning cry because ALL my hair has come out due to this mirena. I read lots of articles and watched a fee videos on YouTube and finally decided I was going to do it. I've only had the mirena for a year and in that year I have been moody cramping and suffered major hair loss. I called a few places to have it removed and they wanted any where from 250 to 350 which I don't have to spend. I did just what the video said. I squatted and placed two fingers up there is immediately felt the strings. They were very easy I pinch between my fingers. One small light tug and it was out and in my hand. I felt the same pinch I felt with it going in, nothing more. I will be going in for a check up that my insurance cover. I sat if u think you are brave enough and don't have the money to spend then do what you have to do. Just follow up with your Dr.
My iud is driving me insane, I love it but my bf and I have been talking about having a baby and my doctor is on vacation for another two months and I don't want to wait any longer how can I remove it myself? Please I wanna have another baby but I'm so sick and tired of waiting for him to return. Im tired of the dreams of being pregnant plz has anyone done this them selves?

I just pulled mine out myself, about 10 minutes ago, I felt a slight pinch as it came through my cervix but just took a deep breath and stayed relaxed. It didn't hurt, i have mild cramping now but just got a hot water bottle and im off to bed. Mentally I feel a huge relief and strangely empowered. Slow and relaxed is the key.

Yes you can..... It takes less pulling then removing a tampon. I am doing the same thing may/June
