I had a very red patch over one eyebrow and a small patch on one cheek...now, after 3 mths using the head and shoulders, that has almost gone and my cheek is clear. I only use the conditioner at night cos I dont like the smell of it. I am afraid to stop using it in case it comes back. My skin is good.

My daily routine is a normal one..washing the face in water in the mornings, add a little face moisturiser, put makeup on and in the evenings I use cleansing wipes to remove makeup

I also have a seborrheic patch on my upper arm which is proving very difficult to shift, it tends to get thick and scabby looking but the head and shoulders conditioner is having a better effect on it than anything else I tried.

Try the prescription called Promiseb.  I put up with the same symptoms for years the doc's all thought I just had rosacea and tried everything.  The Promiseb has totally stopped my symptoms and I've had no side effects for over a year now.

Thankyou for this tip. I now use head and shoulders conditioner as a cream on my face and it has worked. My face is almost clear now . I will carry on using the conditioner though, to keep it at bay.

Hey, I have SD too, for years. You need to use whatever works until it doesn't work so well, because, unfortunately, the bacteria/yeast gets accustomed to one treatment and you need to use something else. Here is what works: 1. Consume olive oil, walnuts, and avocado. Especially olive oil. Eat it uncooked, on whatever you can, besides yeasty breads. The yeast in bread makes it worse, feeding it. Also, the health of your liver is important to maintain, which is why after drinking (coupled with the yeast factor), it gets worse. Omegas are good; also, vinegar or pickled things. Avoid anything with yeast! 2. Ketoconazole worked for me for years, get it. But I now control it best with olive oil consumption. 3. Head and Shoulders works on face for awhile, though it could agitate skin, so use it at night. For some reason, generic H&S doesn't work as well. 4. I recently started washing my face with antibacterial hand soap, and it actually helps. 5. Get suntanned. It helps the appearance, plus the vitamin d is probably good. Don't overdo it though! 6. Work out! The better health you are in, the better it is, period. Nothing makes it worse than being out of shape, eating poorly, especially eating too much yeasty bread. 7. Sleep with your face off of pillow, don't let your face touch blankets or pillow while sleeping. 8. Don't let the hot water in shower hit you directly on face, it irritates it. Hope this helps, I'm constantly searching for better ways to control it.

I have had SB on and off since I was 15. That is NINE years of dealing with this! I find that too much humidity and definitely too much sun exposure make it worse. I use to use an oil called Dermassentials, but it never did the trick. The one time I did try dandruff shampoo, my face got horribly inflamed! Eucerine was doing the trick, but it seems like my SB gets use to every cream, lotion and potion that I try! Right now, I'm using coconut oil, but my SB has been sooooo bad! It now consumes my entire forehead, my nose and half of my cheeks, next to my nose on both sides, on the corners of my mouth, on my chin, in my ears, and on my chest!!!! There has got to be some relief out there! I'm so tired of people asking if I've been hit!

I have the condition more then 30 years. Around nose, eyebrows, scalp, chest, ears... (so far)

Usually when it flares up, it can be bacterial as well as fungal infection When it flares up what really works for me is combination of antifungal cream (tiokonazol) and tropical steroid (prednisolone) application for 3-4 days.

Meantime regular use of E45 cream as emollient. Keeping the skin clean with soap free washes.

Recently using just olive oil fells better. does not cure. still comes up. I am on gluten free diet, does not seem to solve the problem.

I will try vitaminC+Zink tables. (keeping fingers cross)

I've had some good results with Carmex which is basically a petroleum jelly base with camphor, salicylic acid, and a couple other things.  I shower, wait 30 min. for the skin to dry out, apply to the affected areas, wait 30 min. then wipe off the excess with a tissue.  Then I go to bed and by morning I notice  an improvement.

Nizoral shampoo 2% 3 times a week has worked amazing for me. Tanning bed twice a week has also been a benefit. Plenty of water is very important. Exercise helps as it will reduce stress and help you sleep better. Sleep is another important factor. I use a steroid cream
On my face when I get a bad flare up. Any steroid cream should be used very sparingly or you will have to change medicines quite frequently. SD is annoying to say the least and to have this skin condition is tough. Many don't realize how rare it is to have, especially if your an adult and therefore don't know the pain we go thru. A good doctor and support from family and friends is helpful as it will keep your stress levels to a minimum. If you know someone like a teenager who is struggling with SD, tell them to ignore people who stare or bully them. I have learned to develop tough "skin" and not even give a f**k what others think. At 26, and 10+ of dealing with SD, I have been thru the terrible flare ups and the awkward stares. People who care, will and those who don't or are negative, f**k them. One more tip is a good tinted moisturizer. I use this when my SD is mild and I am going out with friends. It helps smooth the skin for the night but wash it off before bed or your skin may dry. Good luck to all!

All you have to use is head and shoulders conditioner on your face as a cream. I had SB for years and now it's completely under control and has dissapeared completely. If you want to know more

I've been experiencing Seborrheic Dermatitis on my face - mainly eyelids and surrounding eye area and the area surrounding my mouth. I also have it on my arms, neck and back. I started using Virgin Coconut Oil as a moisteriser on my face and also mixing it in with smoothies and within a week it was all gone from my face. Sadly though after a diet slip up and having some lollies/candy it came back in full force and I'm now tackling it again with coconut oil and honey. I haven't tried head and shoulders on my face but I think I will to help because this time around its worse.

Hi, i was diagnosed of sebborrhic dermatitis. It changed me from a  happy to a sad and angry person. I was lonely in most years of my life that i refrain from seeing old friends and even relatives. I was a prisoner in my room for a lot of years and my family would not even want to eat with me. I noticed that having a different face will cause you to have a different identity. Then, i found this herbal called LACTO PAFI, it is brownish in color and costs Php80.00. Its equivalent to 2 dollars. By the way, I am from the philippines but a few arrangements with the dealer may allow you for a fast shipment. I noticed that when i was not using the LACTO PAFI herbal, my sebborrhic dermatitis stayed with me for 8 years but when i was using the herbal, my SB got healed after 1 year and 7 months.I just slathered them on my face and washed it up with water after a few seconds. It may sound like waiting for a long time but finding a cure for SB is very diffucult. Im so happy to have found a friend in LACTO PAFI.

That was my story. I hope you could try the herbal too and always remember that the greatest healer of all is God. Ciao.
