I share your pain. I have had no success with anything other than topical apple cider vinegar. It stopped the burning and itching and it is clearing up my sd on my scalp too! The best part is that it does give immediate relief.

Hi I have mild to severe seborrhoeic dermatitis and I was prescribed lidex solution for this and I use it every other night and I sleep in it and wash it out the next day this has worked wonders for me truly it reduced my flakes and itching which used to be pretty bad now I see very little flakes and I have light to medium itching my doc also told me to use a medicated shampoo which I do it's called dhs and I wanted to see how I could reduce the light to medium itching that I have left my doc thinks the remaining itching I have might be coming from my stress and anxiety and wants me to be treated for it and see how that goes and if that doesn't work to come back does anyone have any tips or advice on what I could do or try part of me thinks it my stress and anxiety and the other thinks it's still the seborrhoeic dermatitis my doc also said to try a medicated shampoo to see if that helps reduce my light to medium itching and I feel like it helps but I would like to reduce it some more can anyone give me any tips or advice?

manuka honey is the only thing that has helped me by not irritating my skin. I don't know how to get rid of the flakes without irritating my skin though. My skin is always flaky (my eyebrows cheeks and beard mostly)

I have SD on my face. I have tried various prescribed creams, some caused more problems, and some helped it slightly. I decided to make my own natural cream. I used organic coconut oil, a few drops of organic lavender essential oil, a couple of drops of organic tea tree oil and a small amount of organic calendula gel. I mixed this together in a sterilised container shaking it to ensure all oils where mixed once the coconut oil set. I put it on my face a few times a day. I want to share this with you all, because it has helped my SD so much. I've only been using it for a few days and already the redness has reduced massively, and flakes are minimal. I am well aware that this might not work for everyone, but I wanted to share just in case it can help anyone else.

I've found aloe Vera to help and drink plenty of water. A high vitamin c supplement of timed release throughout the day also. I stopped eating bread and this had helped as well. A vigorous walk in the hills with the fresh air and porridge before you go for the walk is great for clearing the facial skin. My friends daughter is a model and they are advised to do this up to 48 hrs before a photo shoot. It really works a treat.

Hi, so my SD started when I was 15 (I'm 25 now) and I thought it was ringworm on the back of my neck. Eventually I went to a dermatologist who prescribed me a topical steroid. It helped at first but then my SD worsened and began to spread further up my scalp and went to my face in small patches. Fast forward 10 years and I've really made progress.. it's definitely not gone but I've tamed it somewhat but I have never had a completely SD free year. I've tried a lot of remedies since then.. but most of my success is definitely due to transitioning to a completely plant based, gluten free and dairy free diet. If that's too extreme for you here are a few other changes and remedies I've found to help: I got a shower filter.. the chemicals used to treat water and the chlorine really dried out my skin and the filter has definitely helped. Apple cider vinegar.. I dilute in a 1:1 ratio and use it on my scalp in the shower and dab some on a cotton ball for my face. Dead Sea salt.. this helped me so much.. I use it the same way I do ACV and I buy Minera Dead Sea salt from Amazon. I exfoliate regularly to get rid of the flakes. Essential oils! Oils have really changed the game for me.. I use tea tree oil and oregano oil which are good anti-fungal agents.. I use lavender oil to help with inflammation and coconut oil or vitamin E oil or grapeseed oil to moisturize (like I said.. I really got into oils).. try not to use all of them at once.. just try a different combination of things or one at a time and pick what works best for you. I switched my body wash to Doctor Bronners.. there are many options but I usually go with lavender and tea tree. I started taking a probiotic daily.. SD is an overproduction of yeast.. which was telling me that my diet and gut flora were involved. I did buy a few random products online that I found helpful.. one is derm essentials that I've seen as an advertisement on this page (maybe I'm only seeing it because I've purchased it) and Brija cosmetics has a turmeric serum that I use at night which helps with redness and inflammation. Oh and drink water! (And I've also noticed that alcohol makes it worse).. Whew that was a lot..I'm still learning and I'm always searching for new ideas.. this is definitely a learn as you go process but I can honestly say with all of these changes my Sebborhea has dramatically decreased.

Sorry for the length!

I'm going to try your advice.
My problem is micro brew ales mostly, as light beer doesn't aggravate my SD unless I go on a bender. Having facial hair I can actually smell when an outbreak is coming from drinking. The aroma is not offensive, but it gives me anxiety to know what is coming which seems to aggravate it.

Currently Defence soap helps and strong scrubbing, but I'm going to try Epsom salt. I started to give Alum a try yesterday so I will try to come back and update. BTW my case has gone from minor, to most of my face over the last decade, and some of my scalp. Scrubbing till raw is no fun.

I suffer from seborrheic dermatitis on my face. I have to use topical steroids every day. With foderma serum I've completely eliminated my use of steroids.I was so distraught that my face kept getting worse and I decided to take a chance on foderma and I can say that I'll never look back. I recommended it to my sister who has psoriasis and she absolutely loves it. It's amazing!!

Have had this condition for 30 years, tried everything, been to everyone. Head and shoulders conditioner with almond oil used as a gentle face exfoliant in the shower 4 times a week or so has literally stopped this in its tracks for 2 years. No idea why, but it works. Try it, costs nothing compared to every other treatment and it will work forever, as opposed to 1 week or so.

Are you only using it to wash your hair? Or are you mainly using it to wash your face? And also how often?
