Two mgs is still way too high to jump from. Instead taper down to 0.125 mgs in no more than 10% increments.
But the opiate effect you feel is far greater with morphine compared to buprenorphine.
When give for pain its given in mcg, micrograms. A very small amount maybe a tenth of a milligram.
It's an interesting idea, but for me it would be hard to get the oxy's. I've actually thought of this myself when I had shoulder surgery. I went off sub and on oxycodone 10 mg immediate release.
Now I'm tapering the buprenorphine, down to 2 mgs a day.
I too have learned this the hard way! Been on subs since 2012 & still am on them ! Tried getting off them so many times but obviously have failed .. I am only 45 & just had removed whatever few teeth I had left … Having full mouth implants. Cost …$20,000 (cash) insurance companies feel they are strictly cosmetic. My teeth were literally crumbling … it was horrible .. I’ve also been experiencing abnormal periods & hail loss …
I have been on 24mg a day for 5 yrs… I am about to attempt this ungodly feat of coming off suboxone troches! I wanted to wait until I got off of probation to avoid random drug tests. The way you are describing coming off Suboxone is the exact way I came off methadone‘s long ago and it worked perfectly. I am apprehensive about getting hooked back on narcotics but would rather Cold turkey heroin then try and come off Suboxone again by “tapering“ which just prolongs the hell you are in.
I've done this myself and it definitely works. I think it works for people that are truly ready to quit and or people that are only physically addicted but not mentally addicted. For me it was the withdrawal symptoms that made it so hard to get off so a less painful method is what worked best.
Actually that’s one of the best ways to get off subs! Might not seem ideal because everyone is different but it’s what worked for him and I myself have done this same way to get off them and everything else and it’s definitely the best way for me and will help others who don’t know what else they can do! So don’t call it stupid just because you’re ignorant to it!
