Anyone, get this same thing happen to them after consuming evn small amounts of vinegar..? So I am an avid eater of vinergar and cucumbers or vinegar and lettuce, shortly afterward I get a stuffy nose and congested head. I associated this together a few months ago but was in denial of me having an allergy to vinegar, I noticed it happened every time after eating italian dressing. I soon narrowed it down to the vinegar. Wow what a deal. I have gone 30+ years without knowing I have this small allergy to vinegar, anyone else have the same thing, and what are your symptoms..?

OMG, this happens to me too, however mine also sting like crazy, a burning, stinging sensation right on the nipple and usually only the right nipple but sometimes both. My nemesis is Salt n Vinegar chips - every time....i'm worried as this surely isn't normal, but for it only to happen with a certain food source, it mustn't be too serious?
Hi. I've been allergic to vinegar since I was on my 20's. I get severe leg creams that are extremely painful anf the more I try to relax. The worse the spasms get. I take quinine and have to carry it all the time, else I'd have to call asmbulance. It's that serious. I'm almost 60.
Yes! Yes! Yes!
I get hives all over my body and my mouth and inside my stomach (but with vinegar especially they are blistering hot itchy hives that last for a few days). I went to the allergist and he said I can't be allergic to vinegar, but I am sure that in my case I am reacting to the high level of histamines in it because I have an over active immune system other things like wine, very fermented cheese like feta and bleu cheese are some of the worst offenders. Other foods such as citrus (including citric acid), strawberries, wheat, and sometimes chocolate can do the same thing. Nightshades make my reactions worse.
Anyone have joint pain when they consume vinegar?
Yes; I don't know if it was the vinegar or something else, but I had one small bite of a pickled onion and instantly had difficulty breathing and was coughing uncontrollably....very alarming...the onions jar said no preservatives???
I have been allergic to citric acid (which vinegar is high in) for 53 years. Initial reactions for me include instant sweating, HOT face, and swollen mouth afterwards if I keep eating whatever I couldn't resist. Nancy from Alaska

Sulfite allergy is probably what you have
This might sound weird to most people that are allergic to vinegar, but I have learned that water doesn't help with the itchiness especially soda. What helps the best is whole milk, unless you are allergic to milk, luckily I'm not. I have been allergic to vinegar for over six months, and I realized water actually makes it spread, making you even itch even worse.
I grew up in Southern Md., where we're raised on blue crab dipped in vinegar with Old Bay. So, now, as an adult, whenever we go out to eat crablegs, I always dip mine in vinegar (yes, we take it from home, complete with lots of Old Bay) Within a few minutes of eating, however, I get a stuffy nose and head. Now I get it. :(
I have same thing. Tried bragged and had same results. :-(
YES I GET THE SAME THING!!!!!!
Yes, it's just started. My mouth feels like it's on fire when I have anything with vinegar.
i would be extremely careful taking 'more vinegar' i found i was having the same reaction after years of tolerating vinegar, i particularly noticed this as i used to drink cider vinegar , the symptoms were getting more noticeable everytime i took it but i didnt think for a minute i had an allergy, the last time i drank it however i had a full on anaphylatic shock (i couldnt breathe...at all, blacked out) i now know i have an allergy and next time could kill me, i have to wear a bracelet have a medical alarm and carry an epi pen, its the aesthetic acid, also apparently its in some treatments for prepping they use in the medical fraternity, so ingesting within your body anywhere could potentially have the same effect as its still being absorbed into your body, please be careful
Wondered about viniger since early 20's. Eating ketchup, BBQ, now salad dressing. I break out in a sweat and skin on roof of mouth burns instantly. Then a piece of skin will peel away the size of a thumbnail, yes it hurts. Guess I am allergic to it. Finally learned lesson to stop eating it.
