If you're living in a tent for four days it can be a little bit difficult to wake up looking fabulous - after all, you don't have fresh running water or your usual makeup kit. But by following our clever festival beauty tips, you'll look & feel fabulous.

It's officially summer! And that can only mean one thing - festival season! Partying day and night, seeing your favorite artists live, hanging out with your girlfriends in the sun and having a few days off work... what could be better?! The only problem with festivals is that you don't get to have a shower - nor do you get to wash your hair, or wash your face properly... so it's little wonder that it's difficult to stay looking fabulous. But if you follow our clever hair and beauty tips, you can look a million dollars each and every time you step out of your tent, making everyone else think "How does she look that good?"

Keeping Clean

It might sound obvious, but if you're feeling a bit yucky because you haven't been able to just hop into the shower to wash your hair, or your body, you won't feel pretty, no matter how much makeup you put on. So it's important to keep clean as best as you can. Obviously, you don't have a full shower, so you'll have to improvise a little bit.

Dry shampoo will be a lifesaver for your locks - use a powder variety and it'll soak up grease and also help to plump out your hair, giving it extra boho volume.

Take plenty of makeup wipes for your face and for your body, either use wipes, or take a small bottle of shower gel and have a strip wash. All you need is a bit of water, the shower gel and a towel and you'll be able to get squeaky clean. Take anti-bacterial gel, too - you'll use it far more than you might think.

Preparation is Key

Putting in a little bit of legwork before you actually get to the festival means that you'll look your very best when you're there. Get your eyebrows and eyelashes tinted before you go - it'll make your features stand out and will make your eyes pop even if you don't have time to put mascara on. Another option is to get lash extensions, and to get your eyebrows shaped - you can even get eyebrow extensions now if your's are looking a bit bare!

Get a shellac manicure and pedicure and a long-lasting fake tan - some last for up to three weeks, so you should be fine as long as you spend a bit of time moisturizing every day.

As for your hair, wash with a clarifying shampoo just before you head out and apply a deep conditioning treatment to the tips of hair. That should mean that you won't need to use dry shampoo for at least a day or two, which gives you more time to get on with more important things - like partying!

Don't Forget the Anti-Perspirant

Your anti-perspirant will probably be your best friend at the festival as it'll hide a multitude of sins - particularly towards the end of the festival when you've been without a shower or running water for three or four days. Don't forget perfume, either! Get a solid perfume stick as it lasts longer, plus, you don't have to worry about it leaking in your bag.

Magic Makeup Bag Tricks

There are tons of multi-use products that you can pack in your makeup bag that'll make you look a million dollars for very little effort. Focus on taking products with you that can do a few different jobs, or that have multiple products in one single package. CC creams and BB creams are perfect for covering up blemishes and spots, but if your skin is fairly clear, a primer that includes a highlighter or a touch of concealer will do the job nicely. A cheek and lip tint that either comes in a bottle, or in a stick, means that you only need to take one product with you and it'll give you a lovely rosy glow. For your eyes, pack a kohl pencil, a mascara wand (false lash varieties are best as they'll give your lashes extra volume) and an eyeshadow pencil with a different shade at either end. It's also a good idea to take a highlighter pencil, if you have space, as well as an eyebrow pencil. And that's it! You can either use everything to give you a full-on party look, or mix and match the products if you've woken up a little bit hungover. A swipe of a bright red lip pencil will add glamour in 30 seconds flat, and a little bit of highlighter used on the browbone, down the nose, over the cheekbones and over the collarbones will make sure that the light hits your face in all the right places - so you'll look fabulous in all of those Instagram pics!

Finally, pack a 24-hour foundation or a foundation with a "wake-up" formula so you can cover up any dark circles if you were a bit late going to bed the night before.

Protect Your Skin

If you're going to be out in the sun all day, it's really important that you protect your skin with a decent sunscreen. There are some formulas that you can apply over makeup, but your best bet will be to apply it all over and let it sink in for about 20 minutes before you head out. Spray formulas are quicker to apply while powder formulas are a good choice for topping up your protection. You could also pack a 24 hour formula - that way, you can just apply it once and then party all day without worrying that you're going to burn.

After a long day of festivities, make sure to cleanse your face thoroughly to remove makeup, dirt, and sweat. Use a gentle cleanser suitable for your skin type. Sleeping with makeup on can clog pores and lead to breakouts. Applying a moisturizer helps maintain your skin's hydration levels and creates a protective barrier. Choose a moisturizer appropriate for your skin type and apply it after cleansing, both in the morning and before bedtime.

Cheat Hangovers

Many people - understandably - overindulge on wine and the spirits of their choice while at a festival. But if you're drinking every night and waking up hungover, your skin, hair and eyes will suffer.

Take rehydrating sachets - they contain electrolytes and important minerals that will help to rehydrate you the morning after the night before, so that your eyes look a little less bleary and your skin a little bit brighter!

Replenish lost electrolytes by consuming beverages or foods rich in electrolytes, such as coconut water or electrolyte tablets. This can help combat dehydration and support your skin's health. Upon waking up, drink water or a rehydration solution to combat the lingering effects of dehydration. Also, engage in light physical activity, like a short walk, to boost your circulation and help your body recover.

You might want to take eyedrops and eye brightening cream, too - just in case!
