I had this burning sensation in that area and it kept getting worse. I went to dr and got yeast infection medicine. It gave me no relief. Then I tried cipro (I insisted it must be a UTI). Things got worse, I felt like it was burning and throbbing. My gyne tested me for bacterial infection and yeast infection and it came back negative.  I was miserable and consumed with anxiety. I was leaving for a vacation in mexico in a few days. Finally my dr said that it's vulvitis, caused by lack of estrogen (I am 54). He gave me prednizone to take and also cream. Well it worked right away and he told me to keep using cream because it can last a year. Well the burning is now back and I am taking oatmeal bathes and using the cream. I wouldnt say its as bad as it was in October but it is sure annoying and bothersome. I am goin back to see the dr in January.  He did tell me that he sees it quite a bit so dont woory. Its not serious but its very uncomfortable. We just have to work with the drs to see what gives us relief.

Hello. I read on another blog that it could be irritation and chaffing from wiping after going to the restroom and sex. The writer suggested using a skin protectant ointment

I tried aloe vesta skin ointment three after showering and completely drying my vaginal area. It has worked amazingly. I used it very liberally and pray that it continues to work bc this was the folirst day in a long time that i wasnt miserable.
Hope this helps!!!

Hello. Doctors will do that! The reason being is because the get free trips and air fair for all the perscriptions they sell. This happened to me too and it was all pain killers when pain Wasnt my problem! Its best to stay away from meds they actually make matters worse.

I finally found the answer: I sprayed an antifungal foot spray on the outside of my lips an took off my underwear overnight. The next morning I had new skin growing down there and most of the itchyness has gone on the inside as well only after one use.

I use coconut oil (cold pressed organic). It relieves the pain and itching instantly but needs to be applied on the area affected approx every 8 hours or after a shower. Hope it helps you.
Warning, just make sure you aren't allergic to coconut

This is a nightmare!  It all started 4 years ago.  It was a yeast infection, went away with treatment, came back 2 weeks later and lasted around 7 months.  I seen so many doctors, I was experiencing burning and itching constantly and each dr. visit it was one infection and the next there was none.  Then they said I didnt have any infection and I was left with burning and itching.  After 7 months it stopped.  The following year they came back off and on, yeast infection then nothing but still experienced the symptoms.  This time around it was off and on, then I got pregnant and had discomfort all through pregnancy with no infection.  I had my baby in May 2012 and I hadn't experienced any discomfort until now, 10 months later.  I got diagnosed with a mild yeast infection, under the microscope but my cultures came back clear and was given terazol7, finished treatment and still had no relief. She started me on boric acid for 7 days I am on 6 day tonight, started my period yesterday and I am still itching and burning.  I am on probiotics, yeast cleanse, nothing is helping and it's controlling and destroying my life.  Can anyone recommend a specialist for these type of issues in OC/LA area?  I am always in discomfort, hate going anywhere, sex is uncomfortable, I just want to be normal again.  Something is causing this but no doctor can help me!  I am not diabetic, my blood work is normal, i am losing hope.   Please help me...

I too had that problem. I was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis and got oral thrush bc of it. To be safe my dr prescribed diflucan which I took once then again three days later. She also told me to apply Nystatin and Triaminolone Acetonide cream twice a day. After a week I was still burning and itching and she upped the cream to three times a day. The burning and itching got even worse! After reading the side effects I realized everything I was experiencing was bc of the cream! So I stopped using it all together. I have bot applied any topical cream to my vagina at all. It has only been about a day, but I feel so much better! Stop using the cream, better yet, don't start at all.

I. Need. Help.

Or just some support if I knew others were going through the same thing. I've been dealing with itchiness around my vagina for the past 8 monthsnow. I've gone to my doctor more times than you could count.

This first started after one time that I had sex with my boyfriend and my labia was really swollen afterwards, then the next day became very itchy. After a few more times, this same swelling then itchy phase occured after sex so I assumed this was due to friction. Tried lube which worked wonders to stop the swelling, but then realized that I was still getting itchy after sex. Kept going to my doctor. At first, I got swabbed and sometimes it would come back as a yeast infection and sometimes it wouldn't come back as anything. So I had assumed that this was all yeast infections. Yeast infection medicine did help each time, but then after one time, it didnt. After a while, my swabs weren't coming back as yeast. They weren't saying anything. The doctors also checked to see if it was herpes but there was no sign of that at all. I used to use vagicil to temporarily soothe the itch, which works, but it's such little relief. Then I began to notice that when I shave, it also creates itchiness. Then my doctor thought this had to do with bacteria so I tried penecillin, still no success.

Now i haven't had sex in a good month and a half, almost two months, because i'm trying to eliminate factors. The itchiness has been constant for basically that long, on and off in severity. I feel like shaving as impact on it, because lately the itchiness is only where there is hair and where i shave. I research if shaving has anything to create long term itchiness, but it feels like a trigger.

The itchiness is in the crease between the labia, and all the surrounding area around the vagina. My vagina also feels sore sometimes, and the itching can feel hot. Sometimes it's also like a quick jab of pain and then it's gone. Sometimes it also feels like the skin is being pulled or stretched. Basically everything. Just the normal little bumps that some girls say they have when they stretch the skin of the labia. Ugh i'm honestly so confused. No painful urination or blistery things.

I've only ever been with my one boyfriend. Had STI testing before so that's not an issue, but I can't help but freak out and think this is something worse.

I honestly can't deal with this anymore.

I'm going to the gyno soon because this is affecting me so drastically and i'm not getting results from my family doctor. I've never been so depressed in my life, I'm normally such an upbeat girl but this is constantly irritating and such a pain.

Please tell me there is another girl out there going through the same issues I am?

And any suggestions on what this might be? I can't get into the gyno for a bit so any sense of relief would be great. This has been the longest 8 months.

Thankyou!

When a friend's daughter was 8 years old she was put on very strong antibiotics by an ears, nose and throat specialist, a male, for a year (a year!) to address repeated ear infections. The mom was given no information about the prevalence of candida infection in females who take antibiotics. The poor darling, a brave soul, didn't complain just scratched her vaginal area a lot. So, Mom took her to a doctor locally, a male, who examined her and asked if she masturbated a lot. So, mom said, why don't we ask her." When he asked her, she said 'no, mommy." They were rxed the typical creams, etc and nothing worked. The mom had house help due to a back injury and mentioned the problem to her helper who said "Oh, she needs to apply yogurt inside the vagina and the outer area." She had already discontinued the antibiotic. She did and within 24 hours mom saw a change in her scratching behavior and within 3 days she seemed a much less stressed child. She continued with plain yogurt on her fingers inside and around the outside for over a month.  The agony was over!!  So....use plain yogurt as described here, making sure it contains the probiotics acidophilus etc etc. for a month. Give this a try. I've used it myself many times for vaginal irritation. It's cold, comfortable and healing.
