Wow thank God I decided to look this up today. I had just noticed the skin peeling, the itchin had been going on for a few days now. And yes the skin does look like pieces of toilet paper, until i decided to to feel it and it felt like somethind differnt. So I looked in the mirror to see what was going on and sure enough it was raw and the skin was peeling. I too thought it came from shaving, I though the hair growin back along the inside of my lips was irritating my skin in that area so i shaved it down as good as i possibly could to get rid of this annoyance. These responses from you guys was really helpful. I'm not really sexually active in the least so I didnt know what to expect. I've been on heavy antibiotics from doctors to treat a infection I have from prior surgery I'm taking my third one now so a yeast infection was definately in my pool of options. I'll try to keep moisturized and taken care of to get the itching away. I dont really notice it until i wipe myself or touch the area for whatever reason. Thanks again for a little relief.

Yay! I have been looking for a page like this for years! Anyway, i'm 22, get this problem on and off since i was 15. Tested for STI's - of course no problem. Pointed it out to a nurse - probably a yeast infection. But i have found a few common causes in myself. I often get it after i have been to music festival or camping in hot weather without a shower. So it would seem a build up of bactiria of some sort causes it for me. Also, it is usually on one side of my vagina where my dischange falls when it comes out my vagina. But the one comment that made me curious above about the discharge being clear or white. Mine is usually whiteish, more clear around ovulation. It seems to me that there can be something about this discharge that causes irritaion, espesially if it doesnt get washed away daily.

I don't put anything on the paper cuts - i only itch at the beginning. They go away by them selves. I get this whether or not having sex - currently have it and my boyfriend has been away a couple of weeks. I avoid having sex for friction, avoid uncomfortable undies for friction and keep clean, but not with shower gels etc. just warm water to try let my body balance things out. From today i think i'll go for daily yoghurt eating and just give the paper cut a small wash with clean salt water a time or two a day because well salt water seems good for healing cuts.

I'll keep track of when i get this next and how long it takes to heal this time (my boyfriend is gone for a few months so me and my vagina can have some getting to know each other time.) Although i'd hope not to get it again so soon. I will also keep track of this site and mention it to my dr next time i go. I guess i'll return with news. Good luck girls. Finally glad to know i'm not the only one. :)

It sounds a lot like Lichen Sclerosus!

I second the eczema post but doctors aren't very good at directing what you should do to fix it since it turns out that it's a complete life style change along with a prescription cream in order for it to go away completely... Also, most people go to the gyno for this problem but it's a dermatological problem and most gynos, when looking for dermatological symptoms, look for obvious things while the symptoms for this are pretty subtle when it comes to skin color change and inflammation.  I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't found the site above. It tells you everything.

Thank you ladies!! I thought I was the only one with this problem. I too thought it was thrush. Everytime I go to the doctor and tell him the symptoms he just gives me thrush cream. It sometimes helps with the itchyness but is so messy and doesn't help the paper cut. I too thought it was herpes (as I've had this before) but I don't have the other sores. I always seem to have the paper cut and have tried to shave because when it's hairy it seems to be worse. My partner has shaved too as he gets excessive sweating and seems to itch a lot. I just put some viatmin a cream on the paper cut and found some nappy rash cream and alpha keri cream to put on the rest of the itchy parts. I am so glad I'm not alone and it's good to read what other things are working. I might try the hydracortosone cream too.

I am soooo happy to find this site. I have been dealing with paperlike cuts along the crease in the outside labia majora for several months now. Seems the skin is soooooooo very sensitive and these cuts just appear. I can't be any more gentle when washing and I barely dry the area with a soft cloth (let it air dry). I have talked to the Nurse Practitioner in the doctor office and she said to use neosporin and vaseline. I want to know what is causing these cuts and to stop them. Like I said, I cannot be any more gentle than I am. I am not sexually active and it is not itchy or yeast infection. If I barely look at the area with a mirror it seems to open up these paperlike cuts, not any bleeding hardly at all, maybe a small dot or two on the cloth. Any advice would be much much appreciated.

it is probably inverse psoriasis

For the tears and sores try salt baths... Epsom, sea salt or even table salt in warm not hot water... Sit in the bath for 15 minutes every day,,, tears and sores should heal up in a couple days.... Do this as a preventative measure too... As for the itchy flaky issue, I'm at my wits end...

i have had these symptoms before..... i had gone to see the doctor when i was much youger maybe 13-15 he told me it was a virus that eats away at the flesh but only on the surface.... which is why i couldnt just put itching cream on it and be done with it... you d can catch this by just sitting on a public toilet i cant remember what he named it but one dose of pills and some cream and it cleared right up i have only recently had this happen to me again.... as soon as i find out what it is from my gp i will post here ^_^

Thank goodness, am not the only one suffering. I started having this itch two months ago and was afraid to tell my husband. Every time he wanted to have sex, I will come up with an excuse because I was afraid that this might be some kinda of STD however I started using vaseline and it helped the itching but I got UTI from it so I thought. So, i stop using vaseline and now as I type am itching as hell. Anyhow, I decided to do some research about it and here I am in here.

Hi after reading your post would want to share you these:

This condition is most commonly caused by herpes simplex virus type 1 or 2, but may also be caused by coxsackievirus A16, or vaccinia virus.[1] It appears as numerous umbilicated vescicles superimposed on healing atopic dermatitis. it is often accompanied by fever and lymphadenopathy. Can be life threatening in babies

This infection affects multiple organs, including the eyes, brain, lung, and liver, and can be fatal.

It can be treated with systemic antiviral drugs, such as acyclovir or valaciclovir.[4]Foscarnet may also be used for immunocompromised host with Herpes simplex and acyclovir-resistant Herpes simplex. I hope this would be the answer to all your question..

I have had a similar experience, but my issue seems to cycle with my period. It seems to happen a couple days before my period as my other pms symptms set in. I don't know if a change in ph can aggrevate down there and cause this or not, but its something I;'ve wondered. I'm going to try some of the tips on here, it makes me feel better that other people have this issue.
