Yes, it's called a yeast infection. Textbook symptoms.
You must shower frequently , and was externally .
My vagina (inside the labia near the top on each side) has had very small cracks, hard skin peeling, and EXTREME ITCHING for the last 5 years!! It was complete torture! I was tested for herpes and STD's and came back negative. I finally found a Gyno who knew what it was and he said it came from moisture down there, from working out. Some people were just unlucky and got it. But once you had it you would never be rid of it. He said to use Cortizone Cream on it for the itching.
I read afterwards that if you use Cortizone Cream a lot it can thin the skin, and so I thought "Wouldn't that make it worse in the long run?" I researched on the internet and read that the following suggestions might help: keeping it shaved, I used Vitamin E to keep it moisturized and help healing, and tried many different soaps that were supposed to be gentle. I did this for 2 yrs, but it was still getting worse. I also tried keeping lotion (fragrance free) but it was still drying out.
THEN I TRIED LANOLIN, AND IT WAS AMAZING!!! I AM POSTING THIS BECAUSE I WANT TO HELP THE REST OF YOU THAT ARE GOING THROUGH THE TORTURE I WENT THROUGH. I PUT THE LANOLIN ON IT ONCE IN THE MORNING AND ONCE AT NIGHT. IN 2 WEEKS MY SKIN WAS COMPLETELY HEALED! SERIOUSLY PEOPLE, TRY THIS STUFF! IT'S THE LANOLIN THAT NURSING MOTHERS USE ON THEIR SORE NIPPLES, FOUND IN THE BABY AISLE BY THE BREASTPUMPS. THE BRAND I USED WAS "LANSINOH LANOLIN", IT COMES IN A PURPLE SQUEEZE TUBE. NOW I NEVER EVER ITCH! AND PUT IT ON ONCE EVERY 2 DAYS, JUST BECAUSE IT FEELS A LITTLE DRY DOWN THERE. SURE BEATS PUTTING ON VITAMIN E 6 TIMES A DAY WITHOUT MUCH RELIEF! I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU ALL AS MUCH AS IT HELPED ME!!!
I have this too I saw 2 gynos and the last one told me I need to see a dermatologist, so I did and he prescribed hydrocordizone cream...He said it is a allergic reaction...The gyno thought it was psoriosis it could be either but I will know soon I hope, I have had it for 3 mo.
Go see your Dr. please. You could have Lichen Sclerosis. The only way to know is to have a biopsy. It could be hormonal as well. Steroid crèmes and estrogen crèmes can help. This could be an immune deficiency problem relating to your thyroid as well. There are so many things our skin tells us, but the only way to know for sure is to ask your Dr. biopsy the skin and test your blood for different hormonal levels. Good Luck!
for the last two weeks, iv had dry flaky skin around that area, my period finished 2 days ago and i noticed that the skin was beginning to break n there was a little blood, can anyone help me.?
Most likely, your condition is called "lichen sclerosis et atrophicus, or just "lichen sclerosis." It is a terrible condition that gets worse (generally) as one ages. I have had this since I can remember (maybe 13) and am now 70. The only thing that the Gynecologist gave to me that helped was a steroid cream (prescription) for Betamethasone Dipropionate 0.05% Cream. It does thin the skin, which is not a good thing . . but itching becomes so intense, you must use something or go crazy. I am 70, so have had this for years, and it is a terrible thing to live with, but there is no alternative.
I have had it for awhile now and am now going to the Doctors on Friday ... hopefully get some relief soon as it is driving me nuts and so uncomfortable
Will let you know what the outcome is
I have had this problem my entire life. I am 42 years old. It is embarrassing and frustrating to say the least. My mother has Lichen sclerosis, which is an immunodeficiency. I was tested for it, but came back as allergies. (some argue there is not test for this too, that is is all allergy related) Sodium Laurel sulfates in soaps (which is what causes suds in the soap) is my worst enemy. So I use shampoos without this added ingredient. it would get better without this but I would still itch, and skin would slough off.
I have found that being gluten free has basically resolved my problem.Going without wheat, barley, oats and other gluten grains, I am doing much better. I wouldn't say I am 100% better, but it is like night and day for me the difference. I am very careful with what I eat, and accidentally had something with wheat in it. I suffered for a month with being red and raw, sloughing skin and pain. It was horrible. I saw my mother's doctor who specializes in lichen sclerosis, he prescribed a mild steroid to be applied to the area. within a day it was better. So now it is just maintaining. Watching what i eat and using the steroid cream to maintain on a weekly basis.
My mother's story with this issue it traumatic and life changing. Her original gyn, put her on estrogen creams, applied to her vagina. She also has had a lifelong issue with this. However, with her lichen sclerosis, her vaginal area is changing is shape and appearance. She also got ovarian cancer, and ha s been treated twice with Chemo. Most of her lower abdominal parts were removed because of the cancer. Luckily they were able to catch it i the early stages. She has been in remission for three years now.
For the ladies out there that are afraid to go to the doctor.. They look at vaginas all day, it is their job. They are not embarrassed, they are there to help you. The pap smear doesn't hurt, it is a little uncomfortable for a minute. I would rather a pap smear than a shot....
I wish I could make this go away, it has affected my life and my husband's with intercourse, thankfully he is understanding and loving.

I KNOW WHAT IT IS! I first visited this page a few weeks ago searching for answers. I recently got married and you could not imagine the depression (especially after waiting for our wedding night) that loomed over me because I felt like....to be blunt... I had a gross vagina. I always made genital health a priority and it seemed the more I kept myself clean, the worse the problem got. At my breaking point, (keep in mind I am african american- thus brown skinned) the skin in the crease of my bikini line, the entire vulva, my perineum, and my butt crack were bright pink, raw, cracked, and bleeding. yet still itchy. I saw 3 gynecologists, 2 dermatologists, and 1 primary care physician. All of whom diagnosed me with lichen simplex and then lichen simplex chronicus. Imagine my relief (the first time!) I then started a laundry list of creams and ointments that just made it worse in some way or another. The list includes: Lidocaine solution, Desitin, Rx strength hydrocortisone, triamcinolone acetonide, Miconozole cream 2% and 200mg capsules, Clobetasol Propionate ointment and the cream, Sarna lotion that was refrigerated (although scintillating when applied to the problem area, i wanted relief not pleasure), Triple Antibiotic ointment, estrace cream, clotrimazole Betamethasone cream, domoboro soaks, and lastly nyastatin powder. Believe it or not, the best one out of all of these was the powder.
I was just about to give up when I broke down to a very close friend who happens to be a primary care physican (He is 31 years old, for those who care) while getting dressed up for my new bridegroom I told my friend about the problem and was looking for something to emotionally prepare me for the coming night.
I wanted to tear down walls when he GLANCED at my problem area, shrugs his shoulders and says......"ok, so you have jock itch. It's not the end of the world."
Yes ladies. It was JOCK ITCH! Unfortunately it was too late to save my honeymoon. However I went to Walmart, purchased Bacitracin and a few different jock itch treatments and started immediately. In two days the symptoms had relieved themselves and the only issue remaining was this feeling like I had cuts in my pubic hair area right at the hood of my clitoris. PAINFUL!!!! It just wouldnt go away. Finally, after babying it, I couldnt take it anymore. I had to get a closer look. Against better judgement I used an ELECTRIC razor (it left very short stubble which I wanted. Last thing I needed was to nick the skin or get razor bumps). Once completely bald, I hopped in the shower, washed the area well (it burned) washed with summers eve vaginal shower wash (burned a little too), got out, dried off, and then applied straight bacitracin to the ENTIRE pubic area. I suggest if you are going to try this, right before you do it, take a deep breath and remind yourself of all the sleepless painful itchy nights. Why? Because it burned like I was exorcising the devil out of my clitoris! After about 5-10 second, it stops burning and I go to bed. Since then, I have used the Tinactin (jock itch spray on powder) from time to time. I am happy to say I have not touched an antifungal product in two weeks. All signs of the problem are gone. ALSO my skin is back to normal. If you are worried about scarring, it didn't happen to me.
I had sleepless nights and embarrassing days for TWO years fighting this damn LICHEN SIMPLEX (which just means dry skin FYI) when all I needed was some jock itch cream.
Ladies, I wish you all the best of luck. This ordeal was EXTREMELY horrifying and that is why I decided to post here. I have never posted anything on a message board so I dont know how it works. If you have questions about what I went through and how the problem got resolved, please don't be shy to ask.
