I have had similar rashes, it's caused by citrus or something else you are allergic too. I thought it was fish oil caplets for me, then it came back after eating oranges. Stop using dangerous creams around your most sensitive areas and find out through process of elimination what you are allergic too.

I also have experienced a fairly severe rash around my upper and lower eyes over the last 3 months. I had this happen to me about 5 or 6 years ago when I lived in Canada.... it would only happen in the winter when the weather was very cold and dry, but it would stick around for several months. I had since moved to the NY and didn't have any problems with it until 3 months ago. This is also the time when the weather started to get really cold and dry (a lot colder than the previous few years).
For this reason, I am thinking it is some kind of psoriasis or eczema. If any one has any similar findings, please let me know.
I agree that skin moisturizers only irritate the problem (even the hypo-allergenic ones!!) The only thing I have been able to use on it is Vaseline...but at least it offers some relief!

I also suffer from the red itchy skin around the eye condition. It first started about 2 months ago...lasted approximately 4 weeks disappeared for a week and is back again. It is so very annoying. I have not seen a doctor yet, but it seems to be getting worse. I look and feel like a racoon. I try to cover it with make-up..but after a couple of hours it sneaks through the make-up. The itch is terrible and my skin feels as if it had a chemical burn or something....almost like sandpaper now.

I also have this rash, more on my left eye than my right. I havent had it long so far, but I developed a rash on my right arm the same day I developed this rash. My eyes are puffy and itchy and very red but I hvent seen a doctor yet. It seems that it stays in the area below eyebrow and above my eye. I do not know why I got the wrist rash, maybe it is coincidental. But still, it is itchy and very blotchy and I'm not sure what to do. Psoriasis do run in the family.

hi ive been having the same problem for a few months now. Both my eyes are itchy, swollen, red and rough and it's really painful. I've been to the doctors and he told me to switch my shampoo to Johnson's baby shampoo and also gave me creams and medication. After a few days, the symptoms cleared, however, recently they came back again...
my eyes now have some red dots on the eyelid that look like blood and my eyes are red and itchy. vaseline no longer works for me, neither does any of my medications.
I don't know the reason for this or what to do. I'm im highschool and this hasn't happened before, also, it came very suddenly. The weather is cold, but i'm using moisturizer and other areas of my skin are not dry (it's just the eyes and mouth area)
If anyone knows how to help, please tell me.

Thank you !

I too suffer from the reoccurring mystery rash around the eyes. It would come and go for months. No cream would soothe and nothing would seem to cause the condition.

I tried a week of a homeopathic remedy of Lachesis, and follow with Nat. Mur. Success.

I then found out that type of strange rash is also a rare side effect of Lipitor and other cholesteral meds.

Hello Im 24 years of age and I have been having bumps around my eyes for 2 years now.

I have consulted many doctors dermatologist and they have prescribed me creams and pills with no avail. Apparently the doctors tell me that this small bumps (rash like) has got to do with my lipids and bile not functioning properly.

Whenever I splash ice cold water to my face, this bumps will turn reddish. However, it doesnt do any major disturbance to my health being except for occasional itches.

I was hoping anyone of you who share my condition and would like to share your experience.

The following links are pictures of my condition:

I am a 52 year old female. I think what you have is called 'Perioral Dermatitis'. I had it for months around my eye and couldn't get rid of it. It can be caused by flouride and tartar control toothpaste. I am now on an oral antibiotic and a topical cream the dermatologist prescribed and my rash is gone. When I used tartar control toothpaste, I would get sores inside my mouth, so I've stopped using it, but remember that the rash around my eyes developed at the same time.

Hope this helps. See your dermatologist and find out if it's Perioral Dermatitis. No more tartar control toothpaste for me.

I am 21 I recently too had this rash around my eyes. I have had it for two weeks now and its very uncomfortable and itchy sometime it feels like it burning. I stopped wearing makeup for a while and also changed all my make up thinking that was the problem but it seems like its just getting worse! I saw a doctor who told me i have pink eye.... i thinkk he must of took someonline doctor course, i have never heard of pink eye around the eye, but not in it. I tried the eye drops that did nothing. Im starting to think this is an allergic reaction to cats i might have developed but thats my best guess.... Someone please help how can i get rid of this!

Did you know that you can actually have a rash that is caused by allergies like pollen in the air? I didn't realize it until I developed a juniper allergy. I think that's what my guess is. Do you live in an area with a lot of pollen or dander? Have you been to an allergist?

Hey, gang:

Just recently got rid of my very persistent rash around my eyes and wanted to post my experience, in case it mirrors anyone else's. I had been using cortisone cream for two straight years on a rash that wouldn't go away. It'd flare up and I'd use cortisone to keep it somewhat under control, but it'd always come back. Finally, after seeing a number of dermatologists, I saw a Dr. Rappaport in Beverly Hills who informed me that my skin had developed a dependency on cortisone, and the only way to correct the problem was to stop taking cortisone altogether. He said the rash would flare up terribly (which it did), but that after a couple of months, it would finally go away for good. I've been free from cortisone cream for two and a half months now, and the rash is completely gone.

Hope this information helps!

I have tried steriods but nothing worked and changed all my make-up. I feel really ugly and old because this condition has made my lids very wrinkly and loose I am at my witts end. I think maybe it is a virus or something please help
