if u have SD on your face go to Walmart and buy Dermarest Eczema medicated moisturizer for sensitive skin. The active ingredient is pramoxine hydrochloride 1%. It costs about $6 and works like a miracle on SD patches on your face. Ive suffered from SD in my scalp for years and just control it by switching between medicated shampoos, but all of a sudden i got a bunch of patches on my face and nothing would help it go away i tried anti fungal cream, steroid ointments, and all kinds of moisturizers and nothing helped until i got the Dermarest and the 1st time i used it was like magic i couldnt believe how fast it helped my face heal and best of all for $6! My SD patches were the worst on my eyelids and the Dermarest says not to use around your eyes, well i used it all over my eyelids and im just fine i just think you should be careful not to get it in your eyes. I just want to thank the person who posted about the Dermarest because it saved my poor face and im posting about it so maybe it will help someone else who is suffering.

Use Nizoral shampoo on your hair and face and then treat with a mild cortisone cream.  You can use the Nizoral up to twice a week and then when symptoms clear once a week.  I get mine on prescription from my doctor and the mild cortisone cream I buy over the counter at the chemist.  It will say don't use on face but my dermotologist said it was ok sparingly.  Hope this helps, I have suffered for years it won't go away, but it will keep it under control.

How I cured it is by applying virgin coconut oil and leaving it for an hour and then washing the surface with herbal powder (some dhal powder). I did this every day for a week and after 4th day I could not find any trace. Meantime I see to it that I do not have constipation, take less sugar, drink more fluid, and brisk walk till I perspire. Wonder I got a glowing skin minus the dandruff.

Please note, There is a product called Champori psoriasis cream and spray which I used on my facial seborrhea dermatitis ( not psoriasis) but let me tell you truthfully that it really did work and quickly. I was very leary of ordering it, but I took the chance and I must say I am 100% cured. I know how crazy this stuff can make you feel.

Santo is most certainly on the right lines using coconut oil. I use teenage dream (an acne treatment) I saw recommended on YouTube. It is a combination of natural oils and has worked like the recommendation said. My skin looks and feels normal and this product has saved me. Acne and s.dermatitis are pretty similar when you read and think about it. I am still of the opinion though that different products can help different people. But I am totally convinced that natural oils like coconut oil and jojoba oil do work.

I have been told that SB often appears after the menopause and that is what happened to me. I have it on my face and arm. Nothing seems to work..its notoriously hard to shift. I am going to try chinese accupunture as that helped me in the past with menopausal symptoms that nothing else would help with.

Hi,

Ive had SD ever since I was a teenager although I was origianlly prescribed a cetraben moisturizer as the doctor thought it was exzema. Over the year my skin slowly got worse until last month when i went to the doctors. He prescribed me a steroid cream, however this did not work. He then suggested T/gel shampoo which has tar extract. I have been using it for 4 weeks now and can say my skin has never felt or looked better!! I dont even have to moisturize if I dont want to anymore!! Not only that but the 'blackheads' on my nose are starting to imporve. I originally thought these were normal blackheads and tried treating them with benzoyl peroxide but they didnt shift. However the t/gel shampoo has nearly got rid of them so i think they must have been related to sd all along. Know how anoying this condiiton can be but be assured you are not alone, just look at the number of products that are out there to try and help deal with it!!! I think everyone will respond different to different treatements but I know t/gel worked for me, good luck!!!

I have been dealing with SB for three years now. My scalp has ultimately gotten worse and my face has extremely vicious flare-ups. The steroid creams are not working, nor are the shampoos that were suggested to me. What I fear the most is that each and every site I have hit in the last 6 months, claims that this is a possible early sign of some neurological disorder, i.e. Parkinson's, HIV, epilepsy, vitamin B deficiency. Does anyone out there have a method of keeping it under control???

Do you want to know how to get rid of it?

I finally got relief from Colloidal Silver that I sprayed on my face several times a day, morning and night and as many times a day that I  needed relief and cooling.  After trying so many other remedies this one worked.

i have been given a rx by my dermatologist for seborrheic dermititis,
ovace plus wash. my pharmacy informed me that it was not covered
under my plan and it would cost $351.00 to fill the rx.

i was wondering if there are any alternatives to this med either generic
or over the counter

hI! I have found a wonderful way to keep the crusty patches away from the eyes. Castor Oil (virgin, cold pressed organic). I have been using it in my hair, on my scalp (night before washing following morning as well as an end hair conditioner). It doesn't aggrevate the eyes, has all kinds of healing properties and my face and skin are down right dewy; I've been asked if I've "done" something to my face.

Have also started using Wal-Mart's derma products as they are 99% natural, and do what they promise without insane prices.

I find that my symptoms worsen after vigorous exercise, such as running. Perhaps it has to do with an increase in body temperature, since I also experienced it while on vacation in the desert.

Yes, I have been using head and shoulders conditioner on my face for a few months now. I apply it on the affected areas before going to bed each night and there is definite improvement.
