it must be the organic apple cider vinegar that is NOT distilled. It should have the sediment in it. This works great, you skin may turn red but will mellow out ! It kills the bacteria and yeast that causes it.

Was it Dermarest Psoriasis that you used or Eczema? Please reply
Do not use a steroid cream... Not on your face!!!! the er gave me that, and i work with doctors, and they said do not put steroid cream on your face...
This works.. put apple cider vinegar on it.. The plain yogurt (you can sleep with it) benedryl at night for itchiness. Their is a soap at the health food store for 10.99, and it only has probiotics and vitamins in it!!! It works awesome!!!!
I suffered with a terrible candida overgrowth a couple years ago. By reading all these posts Ive realized that my SD is caused by candida as well! I did a candida diet and the overgrowth subsided and just recently I started noticing my SD getting worse. So back to the candida cleanse I go! Very eye-opening
Be warned...the gel is not for long term use and will thin your skin causing blood vessels to show. Looks like the typical so called alcoholic nose. I was not informed of that and now my alternative to correct the effects of the gel (used for a year) is lazer surgery.
I have had SD for 20 years +. I could not use any type of cleanser on my face - basically water and a washcloth, which even though I was 40, I got zits. I finally went to a dermatologist who had me use Sebulex shampoo on my face. It definitely changed my life. I eventually developed SD on my scalp too. So now I wash the gunk out of my hair with just plain shampoo, like Suave daily clarifying, and then repeat by washing my entire head with Sebulex. It's not really bad expensive, but more than you would probably pay for shampoo. If you use it 2nd, you don't have to use as much and if only washing your face will last a long time. The corners of my nose are the flakiest, so sometime I have to wash that yet again. It's best if you can leave it on a minute. I used to be able to buy Sebulex in most drug stores, but then like most things that work for me, I must have been one of very few that bought it, so now you can order it at your local drug store, but I just get it on Amazon. I recommend checking it out and read the reviews on Amazon. I also have a prescription for Elidel of which I use a tiny bit on my bad spots.
For moisturizure, I used some stuff I tried at a motel that worked fantastic and even smelled pretty good. I was Quince by Davies Gate, but of course my luck would have them going out of business now. It says it had the Dead Sea ingredients mentioned way above. I was looking for another moisturizer that works and doesn't sting when I found this blog. It's always dry in Denver and I could use it soon. I've seen some suggestions above, so I'll start trying them.
Check out the Sebulex though.
I have had seborrheic dermatitis that started 10 years ago. it was on my scalp when i was 16 years old and thought it was just part of my pubescent years. However, several years later it started creeping on my eyebrows. i would usually medicate it with ketoconazole shampoo for 3 days then it will all be gone. now, my scalp is already clear and no episodes for 2 years, but it's now on my face specifically on the bridge of my nose and facial hair. it usually erupts whenever i am stressed, lacking sleep, sudden change in weather conditions, and using harsh soaps, though on summertime i rarely suffer from it. i use water soluble facial wash and lotions such as cetaphil and get positive results after 4-5 washes.
I have the same problem--my forehead, eyebrows and the sides of my nose become brilliant red and then scaly and itchy. I had given up anything other than waiting the "attack". On a lark, in my last attack (yesterday) I smeared Resinol over the affected areas and immediately, the itch went away, this morning my face ws normal colored and I had a few really minor scales. It was like a miracle! Resinol is an over the counter medication, although you may need to ask the pharmacist for it because they don't display it. My jar of Resinol is about 40 years old and it still works!!! Please get some and use it--you can also check Wikipedia on Resinol
Hot water should NEVER EVER EVER be used on the face! And for people with acne or types of dermatitis/skin diseases of the face you should NEVER use a cloth! I did 2 year beauty therapy course and I started getting the facial seborrheic dermatitis last year- BAD. I can't even smile, frown or talk when its there as it is so sore around my entire middle of face! The first thing you learn when it comes to the face in beauty therapy level 2 is DO NOT rub, or use steam or hot water, be VERY gentle as it is the most delicate skin on the body. In fact cleanse and tone is not actually ideal for skin types like ours, the best thing is very gently remove make up with olive oil (although obviously I can't wear make up on most of my face when i have this dermatitis) then rinse with WARM water and hands twice. PAT dry and slather on honey, esp manuka honey if you can afford it! Leave for half an hour then rinse gently and splash with cold water then PAT dry and apply a very gentle moisturiser like pure almond oil with oil of oregano added (been a miracle for most people with facial seborrheic dermatitis) or if not lavender oil is gentle enough, both have massive antibacterial properties. Also DO NOT USE DANDRUFF SHAMPOO ON YOUR FACE! IN THE LONG RUN IT WILL CAUSE IRREVERSIBLE DAMAGE!
You are right, steroid crem on the face goes on to cause TERRIBLE effects, I used it- just a mild one on advice of other peoples experiences as I was desperate to take away the stinging pain and after a few days I came out in great big red welts ALL OVER my face!!!!! I mean it was severe and caused it to get so bad that I could not step outside the house (not just because of how I looked) but because the steroid cream made my face so sore and more stripped that any air outside made my face hurt LIKE MAD!!
I too have been suffering from SD for about 3yrs now. It is just awful and it has affected my life in many ways. I have to wear my hair differently, I feel ugly and so uncomfortable all the time. I have tried a million different lotions, creams, shampoos and even changed my diet. Finally I found Cetaphil face lotion 50spf. And I know this is really bad for us but I started going tanning. it helped my face a lot. I know it will age me a lot quicker but, Anyone that is going through this understands how desperate we can become. So with all that said I tan, wash my face with H & S Conditioner and the put on the Cetaphil Face Mousterizer.
1. Dermarest Excema cream, over the counter...it's the best working cream I've used (including prescription)!
2. Eat Olive oil with everything! raw, organic, best.
3. Excercise lightly, regularly.
4. juice from a juicer (masticating juicer) kale, cucumber and other greens.
The problem is with a lot of this sort of dermatitis is that yhe dermarest excema cream and others that can be prescribed WILL block facial pores and on some (like me with combination skin) will get the worst acne ever! lol I used that and tried 3 others all pescribed and ALL brought me up in severed cystic acne and two years later I have terrible scarring from those creams! No the best approach IS NATURAL, almond oil and esp jojoba oil are so alike to natural sebum that they mimick it and fools the skin, add in lavender oil and/or oregano oil (both HIGHLY ANTIFUNGAL AND ANTISEPTIC WITHOUT DRYING) I caught my dermatitis in the early stages this week but it was still so bad so quick that I couldn't smile or frown! lol I put manuka honey on my face ALL evening and again for half hour in morning and already only 14 hours later the scaly bits have softened and I can move my face AND the stinging has gone! NATURAL IS THE BEST AND ONLY WAY. The excema creams are pore clogging.
