I've puffed (or vapoured) for forty years regularly (daily) and suffered a problem with an allergic reaction exacerbated by Bisoprolol a year ago- halved dose and lung problem disappeared. Two weeks ago got excruciating lower left back pain just below rib cage - so bad I almost screamed every time I went over a bump in my car - thought my number was almost up. Doc gave me Tylenol 2 to no avail, then I found this thread - extreme pain has gone as I quit for a few days and things are much better. Only thing that has changed recently is that I bought new kitchen chairs, and I have a sedentary lifestyle - perhaps the posture hypothesis holds water. (at least for me, your mileage may vary) Will try some exercise and see if I can return to normal. I also smoke cigarettes, but have never had a smoker's cough. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences.

Marijuana is a paranoia! When you smoke marijuana it relaxes you so when your kickin back you could be sitting in a position that would hurt naturally when not high. But when the realization of minor back comes to mind you start over thinking about it and the more your mind focuses on the pain your brain thinks its a threat then you get anxious and the pain gets STRONGER AND STRONGER fear not this is adrenaline at work and not some mystery disease.Even small doses of adrenaline can alter the normal contractions of our muscles. This can cause not only weakness, but also aches, pain or even rapid vibration also known as twitching. This phenomenon can affect your legs, arms, chest, back even your scalp in the form of numbness and tingling. So what do you do?The best remedy for this very common anxiety symptom is to exercise its either that or when you blaze up when you feel a back pain coming on remember to stretch and fix your seating position just keep your mind occupied on interesting or funny things before you over exaggerate and get your self into a panic attack anyways hope this helped

Any remedies? If i quit does it come back?

If you quit, it goes away. There could still be a slight bit of pain but to a much lower extent and its almost unnoticeable for me. Most days its unnoticeable. When I start smoking/vaping again, it comes back gradually. A little bit on the 1st day, some more on the 2nd day, full blown pain on day 3, so my remedy is to take breaks between smoking and not to ever smoke more than 2 days in a row. I must add that exercising helps to a HUGE degree as was mentioned above. The more my joints move on a day to day basis, the less pain I get overall. (LOL, the more my body joints move) It could even be the "sitting" or being stationary that causes the pain and not the mj.....but mostly after a joint there's going to be some couch lock at some point of the experience, and days of couch lock on a regular basis is a breading ground for bodily problems.

Do you think LSD will have the same affect?

Not sure what you mean? LSD causing back pain? Doubt it although I've heard people complain about it, but people usually don't use LSD for multiple days in a row.

Not sure what's going on chemically, but the pain is probably because of the imbalance. Our bodies has to constantly filter and get rid of excess THC and other chemicals from the herb and we have no idea "how" it does this.

I heard that weed decreases magnesium levels and magnesium is 1 of the mild internal tranquillizers which helps us deal with pain. A total depletion of this over years and years would probably cause us to be more sensitive to pain - just my theory though.

I had those INTENSE back spasms as well for about a week or so.

Im kind of experiencing it to...from smoking chronically, upper back pain, left side, achey, seems to be triggered by smoking. I am a Registered Nurse and my feeling is that it has something to do with marijuana triggering inflammation in my body. I think it means you should stop smoking, I'm sorry to say. I would say experiment with lighter strains and If your body has any kind of reaction, then stop using it.

Your not alone, if I smoke it regular...which I do....far too much super back pain. Thought it was driving...so walked, tight it was the gym, so stopped going...tried everything....But it's the weed.
Stop smoking...it gets better...start heavy again, it comes back.
It's a real evil pain mid shoulders through my chest.

Trialled smoking on and off lots and the pain cooked and goes...upsetting as I use a smoke to relax, especially after a weight session at the gym....is c**p right?

So what do you guys think of these "medical mj claims"? That it eases pain, good for numbing the body, it helps cancer and Aids patients, etc, etc, etc. I never got any pain relief from any strain ever and I've mentioned that on so many forums, but always get flame responses. Makes me wonder if all the other claims are true.

Until I found this thread I thought I was the only one and that there was something seriously wrong with me. When I smoke I experience pain in my shoulders, upper back, neck, jaw, and head. This just came out of the blue about a week ago when I smoked an xl joint over the course of the night. I woke up the next morning with such bad pain in my head that I had to go to the ER, thinking I was having an aneurysm or something. So of course now I have all this herb but don't want to chance smoking it anymore.

My question is this. Has anyone that experiences these symptoms tried edibles, and if so, was the effect the same?

I don't want to let all this herb go to waste so I'm thinking of making edibles and tinctures, but I'm scared that it will just have the same effect, but last longer. Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

I've also experienced back pain from vaping MJ. It's mostly in my shoulder blades, shoulders and neck. I can feel my muscles knotting up. I've tried edibles too and found I have the same problem. It seems that edibles cause more muscle pain, Probably because they tend to be stronger. Both endica and sativa have the same effect. Wish there was something we could all do to clear this issue up.

I take medical mj for cancer. A gram a day of the indica oil. The pain got so intense that I would just sob. 2 months of this and it finally dawned on me that it was the oil. I've done 45 grams out of 60. I cannot imagine finishing those 15 grams!

So I too am having these back pains when i smoke.... same story,... been smoking for years and just out of the blue i get them, the one time it felt like i pinched one of my nerves because i had a hardcore pins and needle feeling on my one foot.....i find this to be very bad because i absolutely love getting high, i don't drink or do any other drugs MJ is what i have loved to do for years, there's nothing better than coming home from a hard days, make some food, do ma laundry, clean the house, take a hot shower, then sit down and play some online video games with friends while smoking a fat spliff, its what i do and now I can't do it anymore :-(, I actually did the Insanity program by shawn T and all the constant stretches on the hip flexer actually made the pain go away so i guess if i wanna keep smoking i gotta keep doing intense excercise, which is kind of a bummer but keeping up with those cardio excercises is ALOT of hard work.... I wish there was something I could take to make my body back the way it use to be.... if you guys ever find anything please post it here so we can all go back to our lovely MJ
