Red, itchy blotches on body after showering

As soon as I step out of the shower, all these little red bumps and blotches appear on by upper body, especially my upper chest. These bumps are really itchy and cover my arms, chest, and back. I have no idea what is causing this. I have tried switching different shampoos and body washes, thinking I can rule different things out. I have tried no scent shampoos and sensitive skin body wash. What is wrong with me??!!??!!

I used to have the same problem for many years, but it doesn't happen any more. It might be that I've switched to dr bronners magic soap, which is all natural. Or it might be my immune system improved, or it might be something else, no idea. Anyway, it's gone now.
Go see a doctor, it could be Polycythemia Vera - they can do a blood test to check for erythropoeitin levels...

I have the same condition. I asked my dermatologist and he said there was nothing to worry about.
He said that the red blotches was just my skins way of getting rid of excess heat (caused form the shower)

I live in Phoenix Arizona, and i started getting these same hives really bad every time that i would mow the lawns during the summer-time. I still get them now everyday after I take a shower. Antihistamines help a little bit, but they are not a cure-all.
hello
i have the same problem, red spots with a little white head like a bug bite
it seems like the heat is the common thing between all of us that making these spots appear.
the heat of the sun, hot water, sometimes when i get angry the red spots appears.. i feel heat under my skin then the red spots appears on the upper chest, neck, back, forhead and cheeks
i think we have to look out for the common things between us like:
where you live? under which weather conditions?
do you have senstive skin?
what color is your skin?
are you suffering from high blood pressure?
do you have any kidney problems?
do you feel heat under your skin often?
i don't know if this helps, just trying to figure out what causing these things.
Try using medicated selsun blue, it has an anti fungal ingredient that should clear it up. My friends dad is a Dr. and he told me about this remedy. It worked for a friend of mine. He washed his arms and chest with it in the shower. It did take a month or so, definitly not as fast as what the dermatologist would prescribe.
I have cold urticaria and get these things too... Maybe some of you are also allergic to cold. You should check other symptoms of cold urticaria, maybe it will fit you.
Could be a form of urticaria, it's an allergy to heat which makes you sweat.
girls and boys. I have your answers!!!
I must say that I laughed a little about those who wrote : this is fungus, or parasites... lol
This is only a reaction to heat. heat will trigger your skin cells to release a chemical that will swollen your skin , and turn it into small red bums or big red plaques... there is no danger. soap, water.. nothing has to do with it. just the temperature...
only seek a doctor if you cannot bare it, or it last more than a day before it goes away.
alomort each time a take a shower I got that, and it goes away after a few minute. but I swear it looks really scary each time..
One person responded saying they laughed a little at peoples responses regarding 'fungus' and 'parasitic' infections, and went on to say its just a heat rash? It's actually not that simple, not that cut and dry. I would look into Tinea Versicolor (especially if you notice white spots on the skin sometimes as well), and sebborheic dermatitis. Try Selsun Blue. Apply this to skin in the shower undiluted, and let it sit for 10 minutes. Do this everyday for a week. You may notice your red blotches are even more prominent after washing this off. These are the areas that are affected. Keep in mind that the health of your skin is a window into the health of you on the inside. You'll need to work on your digestion, and bringing back a good balance of good bacteria in your intestines and colon. May also suffer from candidiasis.
Good luck, and don't let anyone tell you 'It's just a heat rash'. It's not. Get as many opinions as you need from Doctors until you are satisfied.

i have the same exact thing as described by everyone. i get itchy red-like bumps, mostly on my chest, after i get out of the shower. the bumps tend to go away within an hour, however, sometime they will flair up mid-day at work. i also get two hive like bumps right under my eyebrows, that are very itchy. also, occasionally, the same bumps appear on my face, but similarly disappear.
i have tried everything: switching shampoos, eliminate all types of sulfur from my products, eating different foods, changing my water filter in my shower to a heavy duty type filtration system, i have a cover protecting my bed from dust mites... however, these bumps just dont seem to go away. they have disappeared before, however they keep reoccurring. someone... please help! they are driving me crazy!!!
