Why was I born with two different color eyelashes

I was born with blond eyelashes over my left eye and black eyelashes over my right eye. It is very noticable to me so I avoid mackup as this excentuates the fact that they don't match. I have met many people with different color eyes but never any one else with different color eyelashes. What is a good way to deal with this?

My daughter is 5 1/2 years old she to was born with dark eye lashes on her left side & bleach blonde on her right side, her eyes are both blue but one is lighter than the other. She wears glasses now as her eyesight on the darker side (Left) is not as good as it is in her lighter side (Right) I never realised there were so many people with this but she is definitly a special little lady :) ... I like the saying someone had put in a past post saying about being kissed by a angel :)
My 4 year old daughter was born with one side eyelashes and eyebrows white and the other side dark brown eyelashes and brows. She has dirty blonde hair as well but on the same side as her white lashes and brows, she has white patches of hair. The doctors jsut told me it was a gene mutation, but shes perfectly healthy. I used to be worried about her being self conscience about this, but I will make sure she knows there are planty others out there like her!!
after looking through these comments, it seems like everyone either has Sectoral Heterochromia, which is known to mostly affect eye color but can also affect skin or hair, or they are a Chimera (not from Greek Mythology). A chimera is when two separate eggs are fertilized, but then combine in the zygote stage of development, causing two different traits to sometimes appear.   I have blonde eyebrows and eyelashes on my left side, plus a large section of honey-blonde hair on my left. It looks a bit odd with my dark brown eyebrow and eyelashes on my right, plus my light-ish brown hair. Personally, Im leaning towards Chimera for me, because my family has a history of twins, but no one else in my family has heterochromia at all. So I'm basically two people 0___0. Weird but kinda cool....
I have blonde eyelashes on my left side and black on my right side. I didn't realize that it was so common! Neat to see that I'm not the only one. I had them dyed for a while but it was annoying having to go in so often to have them done. Do we know what causes this? I wonder how many people have it.
Wow i never knew there were so many more like me! My right eyebrow and eyelashes are very bleach blonde and my left are brown. But all of my hair is dirty blonde.
Hi my names kayla and I have it and my aunt does I really don't like it
I have the same thing. I've always wore black mascara to cover it and it's unnoticeable with makeup. I'm 39 now but had it since birth. I think it's cool or different now! I've never met anyone eles like this and have never met my biological father. I would love to know what causes it or if I inherited it!
I have different eyelash colors also, my right is blonde and my left is black. I tend to warm makeup almost always over the blonde one because people always ask what is wrong with my eye when I don't, although some think it's cool. With dealing with it, since you like them, I just think you continue to show off the uniqueness of us different colored eyelash people (:
This is most likely Chimera (not greek mythology) its usually when two fertile eggs combine together and become one, so if your family has a large tendency of twins, this is probably most likely the reason. It's common in animals, but I think it's cool.
We do also have a Son with to different eyeslashes. They told us that it was caused by vitalgo, but i see lost of theories, very curious what iT is.
I am like that as well but my right eye has bright white lashes and my left eyes has pitch black but this has also affected my eyebrows which are the same way almost and my eyes are dark blue on the blonde side and light blue on the black side I have also never met another person with the same thing as me
Ah! I'm not alone! On my left I'm a very, very, light blonde, and one my right, a very, very, dark black. My hair is a light brown, so I'm not sure which eyebrow is the 'normal' one if either of them are. I'm a girl, but sometimes I wish I was a guy so I could grow out a moustache and see what colour it would be. Also, I've notived on my left, some of my sideburn is white and on my left, some of the hairs are black. I only recently noticed this! Cool to hear I'm not the only one.
I also have one blonde on the left and one brown over right eye, I just wear mascara to cover mine I found brown/black blends better than just black. Other than that I just enjoy the fact the I'm a lil different I go most days with no make up. Just face it we are all Auwsome :)
My son was born with Blondel on his left and dark brown on his right. He also has bright re d hair on the left half of his head and strawberry blonde on his right and its very noticeable. Have never seen or heard of any one else having this! Not sure why it happened
