Why was I born with two different color eyelashes

I was born with blond eyelashes over my left eye and black eyelashes over my right eye. It is very noticable to me so I avoid mackup as this excentuates the fact that they don't match. I have met many people with different color eyes but never any one else with different color eyelashes. What is a good way to deal with this?

I also have one blonde eye lash and one dark also blonde over my left and dark on my right ... how weird is that. I was searching to see if there was anyone else in the world with the same as me, as I have never met anyone with the same. I am 37 years old now and have dealt with this by having both my eye lashes tinted dark all my life by a Beautician. Evens it out.   ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** private e-mails not allowed*** Please read our Terms of Use
Ps ... I am a female twin my twin brother did not inherit this. So I guess I was the lucky one. Twins are definitely in all our family blood line.
Yes if your a girl get eyelash extensions on both eyes that's what I do for living, they are beautifull
I too have this trait......Love being slightly different!!!!!
You are definitely not the only one. I have different coloured eyelashes-the left side light brown, the right side very light blonde-and part of my right eyebrows and the hair just over my right ear is light blonde as well. I am not chimeric because I have one blood type, but apparently I have some sort of fluctuating melanin mutation in my DNA. I was born with black hair and very dark eyes which is strange since I have mostly caucasian heritage. My hair got a lot lighter (kind of medium brown/auburn) as I got older and my eyes turned blue when I was 1-2 years old and then bright green when I was 6-7 years old, far past the normal time for eye colours to change. I researched it all a few years ago with the head of the bioscience programme at my school and although neither of us could find much, she sent all my information to a friend she had who specialized in genetics and he found the results of a test that said my colour changing was most likely due to a genetic mutation in melanin production. Although that lab was extremely hard to find, the results said that the mutation was not terribly uncommon.  As for masking the colour differences, I have tried a few things. For formal events I will colour in the blonde part of my eyebrow, but I don't do that daily because the makeup feels gross to me. I have my hair cut with side bangs covering the back half of my brown eyebrow. My hair is dyed red, so the blonde brow looks more natural than the brown. For the lashes, I always wear mascara because it evens out my face, but I make sure to get a very precise kind so none of the blonde lashes show (Benefits is awesome, but maybeline works pretty well too). I use black mascara, but if you like a more natural face, use a brown.
Hi! I know I am late to this post, but I have the same thing! My right eyelashes, eyebrow and a couple streaks of hair are blond. My left side is brown.   I was told by a Geneticist/Professor that it could possibly be because of barr bodies. He explained that both the dominant and recessive traits are expressed as seen in a Calico Cat (http://www.bio.miami.edu/dana/dox/calico.html).  Cool to know other people have this as well, I have never met or heard or anyone else. I have had it very noticeably since I was born.
I also have a blonde eyebrow and eyelash on my right side and brown on my left. Two blonde streaks on my right side and brown hair on my left......I've always thought I was alone and very insecure about it.
OMG! i have have the same thing! my left eyelash is blonde and the other is brown.
i have the same thing!
I have different coloured eyelashes too, my left black and my right blond, even though I have blond hair. I like to think of it as a piece of my mum, and a piece of my dad. I'm proud of it.
well it kind of mean god wasn't finish making your eyelash color... He was a little lazy making you sorry.. now ask him why!
I realize that this post was a while ago, but I started looking this situation up and I stumbled across your comment. I have the exact same situation. I have very light brown/dirty blonde hair. All of the things that you listed also occured to me on my right side. I have an insanely bright blonde streak that runs through my hair (but only on the right). My right eyelashes are bright blonde and my left are dark brown/black. I always wear mascara because it is really noticeable when I don't and people always ask me what is wrong or if I forgot to take my makeup off of my right eyelashes. I part my hair on the right side for many reasons. The main reason is so that my bangs cover my left eyebrow. This is because my left eyebrow almost appears to be dyed to look ombre. It starts off brown and turns into blonde at the end, with random blonde hairs throughout. It frequently looks like I did a bad job plucking my eyebrows because the blonde blends in with my skin color and makes it look like there is no hair there. The second reason is so that my blonde streak doesn't show too much because it looks like I had a bad dye job. The third reason is so that people can distinguish me from my twin sister. Our hair parts in opposite directions to keep it easier for people around us. I always used to think that all of these things were due to me being a twin, but I'm starting to think otherwise now. It's fun to read all of these stories just so that I know that I am not the only one with these crazy situations. Haha
I'm a twin too and I have this. There might be some sort of connection.
That's funny. I have this thing too. I was just talking to my mom and made the comment that it reminded me of a calico cat. That's funny that he explained it like that. It's good to know.
I have half of my eyelashes on my right eye, blonde. The rest on both eyes are brown. Does anyone else have this?
