Why was I born with two different color eyelashes

I was born with blond eyelashes over my left eye and black eyelashes over my right eye. It is very noticable to me so I avoid mackup as this excentuates the fact that they don't match. I have met many people with different color eyes but never any one else with different color eyelashes. What is a good way to deal with this?

I'm late 40's female and have always had albino white eyelashes on my right eye only.  I do a little extra mascara on that side, and eyeliner on both eyes is pretty much required to balance out the lack of natural pigment at the base of the lashes (where the left eye dark lashes have a natural frame, that is lacking on the right eye). I can transform from slightly strange looking to totally normal with 30 seconds and a wand! Even became a professional make-up artist for 12 years (on tv too!).  Now I frequently go without makeup and could care less if other people think I am a little odd looking...only a handful of strangers have ever looked closely enough to notice why. We are all special and "other", my pale eyelashes just show that on the outside :)
wear fake eyelashes that look really natural they may be a dollar or a pound it depending where you live
I was born like this too. One is very blonde, the other brown. Do you have an autoimmune disorder? My eye doctor told me it was involved with my autoimmune disorder, RA.
I'm 31 and have only recently embraced how unique and awesome it is that my eyelashes and eyebrows are different colors. My left side is bleach blonde and the right is dark brown. My hair follows the same pattern where I have different shades of blonde/brown hair mixed together and on the left side I have a big streak of bleach blonde hair. I chalk it up to bring a birth mark. Just embrace it...you can cover it up with makeup but when you get older you'll realize how awesome it is to be different.
I've never met anyone else who has eyelashes like this (my left eyelashes are blond and my right eyelashes are black) I usually just leave them like they are (it's fun to see people's reactions when they realize it)
Interesting to see so many others that have these genetic traits! I am a white female and was born with dark brown eyebrows and lashes on the right side, and pale blonde eyebrows and lashes on the left. My eye color is a deep blue-gray on both sides. My left/blonde side eye is considerably weaker than my right and has been for as long as I can remember. No lazy/wandering eye issues though. I also have 3 largest patches of white blonde hair, all on the left side (same side as my white blonde brows and lashes), and the nose hair (hehe) is white blonde on the left and dark brown on the right, AND my "lady stache" above my upper lip is white blonde on the left and dark brown on the right. My split hair color differences are only on my head and face-nowhere else on my body. I am 35 years old now and have birthed two lovely little girls, neither of which have this condition. I am adopted, but do have one known half sister (same mother, different fathers). She does not have this condition, and we are not aware of our mother (or anyone else blood related) having this trait. I did get teased a bit as a kid, but nothing devastating. Now I often wear make-up to blend my eyebrows and lashes and have people asking me where I get my hair done. ;) I don't know what causes this condition, but would love to figure it out someday!
Wow it's really cool there's so many people out there with this same thing. On my left eye i have white/blonde lashes, and on my right I have dark brown. The eyebrow on my left side is a mix of brown and blonde hairs, but the right side is solid brown...super weird. Overall my left eyebrow always looks weird when I fill them in, and i have to use a lot of mascara on the left side but its unique and I like it.
I have the same thing. I have tried using make up but like you said it just looks weird because they are still clearly different colors. I have also tried to "own it" and make it seem like I like it but i just cant get past the fact that I don't even like to take pictures because I don't think I look right. In all honesty though, I think its great to know tat someone else out there besides me has this. It's actually made my day. :)
This is SO cool to see how many other people have it too!!! Mine is right down the middle. My left side, blonde eyelash, eyebrow as well as semetrically streaked blonde in my hair. The other side is solid brown eyelash, eyebrow and hair right down the middle. I love it cause it makes us different, special in some unique way! I think since I have this birthmark I am observant to notice differences like this in other people and have come accross a few people with some variation of what I have. I always run up to them in excitment (lol) and sometimes they're just as excited and other times not so much. I had testing at some point and was told it was a gentic mutation, called piebaldism but that condition seems moreso to come with some skin discoloration which I don't have so not sure there's a name for our special quality. :-)
haha same ong I was born with vitiligo ( white eyelashes on on eye , back eyelashes on the other) but I don't really care that much cause I just get my eyelashes dyed or tinted or I just wear mascara !! :))
OMG SAME ITS AMAZING BECAUSE I THOUGhT i WAS THE ONLY OnE BUT YOU LITTErALLY jUST sAID WHAt I HAVE. :)))))
it seems you have small traces of vitiligo or another skin pigmentation disorder , obvsiously not in it's full state but you have a skin pigment disorder as I do the same. this skin discolouration disorder is not usually passed through family genes however it is a modification in your own genes, its amazing that so many people have come here looking for answers !!
I'm a 45 year male. When I was born left side of head was red right side was black. Within the first year it all went red. Then in my mid 20's you could see that right down the middle it was two different reds. Now in my 40's the left side is grey right side is still red.
I have the exact same thing. Not only is my right side blonde, but my right eye appears green, whereas my left eye is blue. Fascinating!
hey i was born with the same thing i am 13. i don't have any marks on my body that don't tan but i have blonde streaks on the same side of my head as the my blonde eye lash. i don't know why it dosen't have a name but in my opinion i find it quite unique. i am not ashamed of it because it is really rare. i have never met someone in real life with the same thing. it's same with my eyebrow. on the same side is blonde on the other is brown. Embrass it.
