Red, itchy blotches on body after showering

As soon as I step out of the shower, all these little red bumps and blotches appear on by upper body, especially my upper chest. These bumps are really itchy and cover my arms, chest, and back. I have no idea what is causing this. I have tried switching different shampoos and body washes, thinking I can rule different things out. I have tried no scent shampoos and sensitive skin body wash. What is wrong with me??!!??!!

I had the same thing and went to the doctors and they tried everything and the conclusion was like when you get a heat rash but I had a reaction to the heat so maybe that?

I have the same problem although taking cold showers doesn’t help either. I have tried as many different shampoos as I can think of and even done the lice thingy but nothing seems to work
I have the same issue. I find that when i vinegar and baking soda my shower head it helps, i believe it is the build up of chemicals in the water
I have the same thing. I went to a dermatologist who sent me to an allergist. I showed the allergist pics from my phone of the red bumps. She immediately said that I had Cholinergic Urticaria and that it was a physical reaction to heat when I bathe. I broke out in several today after bathing. Cool water helps. The allergist told me to take Zyrtec. I am doing this now. It is very stressful. It makes me want to cry. I used to love relaxing in a warm tub of water. Now I take bird baths and hurry to get out to prevent breakouts. My red spots start about 10 minutes after exposure to water in a bath. I understand what you are going through. It is awful! We have well water so i don’t feel it is that. I hope one day it will go away! My red spots also appeared after being on the lawnmower.
I’m 15 and I get the red itchy blotches all over my upper skin (back, chest, neck, face, arms) I have had this problem for a year. I have tried 15 different shampoos, conditioners and body washes. I have tried changing the temperature of water when I shower and nothing seems to work.
take allergy medicine otc allegra or zyrtec it stops it because it is an allergic reaction could be allergy to anything.
Have you been tested for MCAS
i know what this is. Its a form of Mast Cell degranulation. The water triggers your mast cells in your skin to react. Ive been diagnosed with a disease called Mast cell activation syndrome. Its awful. Good luck to all, I am miserable as my reactions occur with everything from food, temperatures, smells, lotions, stress, etc.
The problem is from the dirty bathroom not the hot water. You got the problem actually from the germs and viruses If you used to put the shampoo on the floor and the floor in the bathroom is wet and there’s a lot of germs and viruses on it. Some germs and viruses only survive in the wet environment.
I spoke to my primary who said only shower once a day and use cooler water...Wet myself up turn off the water and lather up. then rinse off..get out...pat dry. lotion up...Not only have my after shower rashes ended, my skin feels so much softer. It's hard to toggle the water since I am a shower all day long person but my skin is healthier. So try toggling the water you guys will get used to it.
I have the exact same case, but not on my arms. I’ve been getting red rashes/botches on my face and chest. Some say it’s a mosquito bite, but normally when I get mosquito bites, it swells. This is not the case for me. I take really cold showers because I live in a hot country. I even use moisturizers and toners for my sensitive skin. I’ve used plenty of face washes (natural and non natural). After these red blotches appear, they go away within 45 mins. I’ve had this for about 10 years now, I always thought I was allergic to the air...but since I’ve had this AFTER SHOWERING, I know something isn’t right. If anyone finds answers for this, please reply back.
I just recently notice this as well. I’ve changed everything from shampoo to showers and water temperature! But everytime I shower, my knees and shins break out into a weird hive! It has started to scare me a my mom but we can’t really do anything because it’s only when I’m in the shower and about 15 minutes after I get out!!
I have / HAD been having a similar reaction for a few years until , reading someones comment regarding water temperature along with time in shower along with various skin calming creams to use .
Today I found out by Lowering water temperature to cool / lukewarm along with a much shorter time in shower was the Only things that seemed to stop those annoying itchy bumps .
Give it a try .
